i actually love this comeback better than dumb dumb.( Dumb Dumb's chorus and dance will forever be iconic tho) Like you said the chanting is awesome and adds such a perfect vibe to it. Also at 3:34 is a reference to Jennies Solo. they are such great friends and i think it was cool that she did that.

It leans to western type of music, it don't have sick transitions or insane beat drop but I could listen to this song a thousand times because its so catchy and a head banger. But the structure of the song reminds me of old kpop songs that literally start the chorus at the beginning of the song that stucks in your head for months.

Bekuh BOOM composed and also wrote Birthday. PinkSweats also composed and wrote “Anymore” one of her Bside and it has a Taylor Swift vibe. Since you like “Outta My Head” then you’ll mostly like “Watermelon” both are written and composed by SOMI and a touch of 24. Perhaps you can do a XOXO album review? 🤩

This is her first title song that I like on the first listen. Tho at first I was like, ehh too slow..? but before I knew it, I was jamming to it & it stuck lol. Song is chill yet a total bop, the length is just enough, not too short, not too long so that's good in my book, tho the creative side inside of me is questioning the opening scene so much because you know the golden rule for writers, "show, don't tell". Maybe they deliberately did it to stand out, but eh idk lol.

Outta my head was a song she wrote. Watermelon on this album is also written by her and has been pretty highly anticipated by the fans as she’s been teasing it for the last 2 years. I’ll be interested what you think of it. This definitely leaned western pop but I still love it. My prediction from your dumb dumb video, that western debut is eminent still stands, especially after this album. You’ll see why when you do your listening party. Interscope promoted this album on their channels and Spotify took out a huge ad in Times Square for her. I wouldn’t be surprised if by January/February she’s releasing a full English single.

There were so many nods to Blackpink and even one to ITZY. Exhibit A.) Somi destroying the windshield of the car with a sledgehammer. Lisa did this to a car in ‘Lovesick Girls’ as well. Exhibit B.) The desert car chase. This scene is very similar to Itzy’s ‘Not Shy’. The car is nearly the same, and the way it’s shot is very similar, too. It makes sense that she nods to ITZY, as she was supposed to be a member of the group but dropped from the lineup last minute. Exhibit C.) Somi and her friends walking towards the overturned car. This nods to ‘Stay’ by Blackpink just before we see the four girls on top of the overturned bus. Exhibit D.) The scene of Somi fighting with her ex while he’s tied to the chair. This scene gives me the same vibes as when Rosé was fighting with the boy in ‘Lovesick Girls’. Exhibit D.) Somi standing on the car. Jennie did this in her ‘Solo’ music video. Actually, there are a lot of similar themes between ‘Solo’ and ‘XOXO’. Exhibit E.) The use of Jennie’s lyrics and choreography. Somi uses the choreography and lyrics to nod to her unnie, but also is trying to tell a story of how she finally became okay with being single. Exhibit F.) The exploding house. Somi accidentally blows up the house and garage, but the way it’s shot and the outfit that Somi’s wearing reminds me of when the car blows up in Rosé’s ‘On the Ground’. Thanks for listening/reading my little analysis here.

She's proven that she doesn't need to fit the generic model of having to be something or look a certain way to be successful in the world of Kpop. Paramount Music produced a mixed girl group that consisted of almost all its members being biracial. They didn't have alot of success but they did make an impact on me because no other company was producing groups that had a minority member count of biracial members. They were Chocolat. & since then debuting someone like Somi prior to Vernon, Huening Kai & bahiyyih was questionable since the KPOP category barely included Japanese, Chinese and Thai ethnicities let alone the artist's that were mixed. Somi epitomizes that there shouldn't be stereotypes for talent regardless of where the talent originated but by its true potential.✊

Hey PD I was just wondering would you be interested in reviewing Cl's Album and Era Alpha? I think it's really good and it deserves a review. I really liked the XOXO album from Somi. But I was a bit disappointed by the amount of new songs. But we will see I am definitely excited to hear more from her.

Regarding “Outta My Head”, if you watch Blackpink’s Netflix documentary, there’s a scene with the girls in the sound booth singing that line. I wonder if Teddy used those vocals in Somi‘s track.

Outta my head is SOMI self produced song and was released in 2019, along with her debut song Birthday. Stop assuming

@@einaphetsk Yo, I ain’t doin’ shit!! Watch the Blackpink documentary!!! Rosé is in the sound booth singing the words “outta my head”. It’s how I found Somi. I searched if that song was ever released by YG and found Somi. What I’m asking is, “Did Teddy use the vocals in Somi’s mix?” Where’s the “assuming”???

Why do I feel like the path Somi’s going on is like…. Korean Taylor Swift… anybody else?, just me? Her music so far is directed at current and ex boyfriend’s (fictional as far as we know) hopefully it will change because that will get tiring at some point.

Most songs are about love, money or being intimate. Persons have just found several ways to present that in order to appeal to the general public.

the dog mask is a reference to the lyrics. the original lyrics says "don't call me a bitch, your new girl is the bitch." as we know, bitch refers to a female dog who chases male dogs first so they posed the boy as a dog bcs he treats his girl as a bitch. so smart 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
