Sound stage from the left all the way across to the passenger door and depth far beyond the windshield and extension without boom and quick. In my bedroom I had very little options where I can set my speakers. I got the JBL Studio 580, matching center, Elac UB5 in rear and Denon X3500H. I had to run Audyssey about 100 times and use the port plugs that come with the JBL but I finally got the EQ to make up for the placement. It is probably horrendous by most people's standards but not super horrendous - about as awkward as you can get considering that also behind each speaker the distance to the wall and the shape are different for every speaker. But on the positive, they are basically the same distance to my head in my bed. I also had to set the 580 on top of matching Studio subs which I don't use but were on sale so I bought a pair. I feel no need to upgrade. Love this match.

Very impressive .. ok they are expensive .. but if they deliver what we strive to want to hear then they must be worth it. Just think how much money we spend on stuff only for it not to meet expectations , and then get the 'next' one hoping for it to be the one.

I'm somehow still happy with my JBL Studio 580 with Elac UB5 in the rear powered by Denon X3500h. I am a-ok on the speaker front. Completely happy with the way they sound, I just don't get enough time to listen to them. I actually play them pretty much all night as I sleep. Best recommendation you ever made as far as I am concerned and I just got lucky to pair the Elac with them. It's like they pick up everything the other one kind of lacks. It took me running Audyssey 100 times but I got it right and very happy with it. Until I get a bigger house to indulge my top theater fantasies- probably a build it myself GRResearch or CSS.

Z, I have experienced the person in the room effect twice. once when I was experimenting with Dolby FM back in the 70s. listening to a classical radio station announcer gave that effect. then again, while listening to a classical station announcer on a very good Harman-Kardon FM tuner and the Robers LS3/5a loudspeakers. both times, the announcer sounded just like he was in the room. Strike free music is used by Ron at the New Record Day YT channel. if you contact him, he can hip you to it. some of it is VERY good.

Yeah, I read a review, or more like a design review of these - seems like quite a while back. I distinctly remember how the aluminum is deadened with leather. It's great to actually hear a hands-on review. Especially because the thing that I value most is holographic imaging. Add that to zero sound signature, and for me, it might just be the perfect speaker. I have a tiny pair of the original NHT SuperZero's paired with a sub for my PC, and those little NHT'S are absolutely holographic. I fkg love them. I have a small pair of the original Dali Ikon 1's paired with two subs in my bedroom, because they also have no bass. Those are speakers that you simply don't toe-in at all, and they are also very transparent. I live for speakers that disappear. Maybe these are end game speakers...

I know you are here to hock new speakers... but it would be very Great to hear you review an ancient used pair of EPI 100v speakers, with the latest tweeter version (The old tweeter version, has a fiberboard bezel. Their best inverted tweeters, have a plastic bezel around them). These speakers also vanish into the room.. making one of the widest and deepest 3d soundstage, that Ive ever experienced. EPI was eventually bought out by Genesis Physics ... whom kept using the same Magical drivers, in the same configuration, ..and some other different combinations (such as adding a passive radiator). The difference between these Korean speakers, and the EPI's... is that the EPIs are a fully sealed speaker. No over-exaggerated "artificial" sounding bass. Just Pure, punchy, and Deep bass... that is Musically Accurate, and very Dynamic. Also, I believe the EPIs inverted tweeters, are even more expanded in sound-field projection. Meaning, the sweet spot, is MUCH greater. You dont have to place them in the "Perfect" height, or position.. and the sound is still phenomenal... and flawlessly imaged. When I first got them, I didnt have the space for them in my room... and I had to place one under the side of my desk... and one behind the center of my desk. It barely effected the sound field, at all... to the point where many would strain to tell any difference at all. I was shocked beyond belief. Now... while these have excellent bass on their own... with a slight EQ bump in the bass, you can push them even harder... and get some pretty insane "Thump". The woofers are 8", with massively powerful magnets on them. Ive had them at Sitting height on stands... and while they were fine like that, they sounded best on the floor, near the walls. Being so low to the floor, doesnt effect the tweeters Image / details, at all. Ive never heard such a wide projection, with any other tweeter. The closest thing was a 360 degree Dipole ribbon tweeter... but those sounded too artificial and strange... due to room reflections at different timings.

EPI 100v speakers - Also vanish into thin air, and create an even wider and deeper 3d Holographic Soundstage. You can pick them.. or the Genesis Physics versions up.. for like under $300 used. Make sure to get a pair with the latest tweeter model (plastic bezel, not the fiber-board bezel version). A former employee of the company has a website: humanspeakers whom sells new, hand built, replacement drivers. He even makes an improved version of the magical "Inverted tweeters". Ive not bought / heard his drivers, because all of my EPI's have flawless performance, as-is. A buddy wanted me to listen to these $3000 speakers at the high end stereo shop, to give my opinion on them. They were total Trash. My little EPI's blew them away, in every Metric, by magnitudes.

Honestly a service like epidemic sound has a ton of nice tracks. What are favorite songs are is irrelevant, you aren't playing them either. Even if I don't believe at all in "sound demos" it would be nice to ear something for more than 3s

I have heard of these from the show coverage by other large name publications covering the show. They do a pear interesting. While not cheap, I cringe at saying they almost represent a value compared to the other eye watering stuff $$$ at these shows. Remind me of magico and another speaker designer that uses all aluminum for their cabinets. All of them seem to be aiming for this colorless audiophile sound. What you feed it is what you get....sometimes good and bad. Welcome to audiophile land !

Sounds like great speakers to consider, but I am dealing with too much increases in my daughter’s tuition, food, etc… to put this into consideration. Hard on retirees. Great presentation though.

Remove the ball bearings and put the speaker back on the stand and see if it behaves exactly the same and then you’ll know whether those speaker stands are worth $2000.
