Sylvester Terkay. Dam there's a name that I've not heard in a very long time. He was briefly in WWE, had a few decent matches than just disappeared. I had no idea that he switched to Kickboxing & even got to compete in K-1.

Sylvester's toughness, resilience, & that unwavering determination are certainly something to be reckoned with. If it were for 5 rounds, I'm pretty sure Sylvester would have prevailed, cause Hong-Man was totally run of gas. I wonder if anyone feels the same.,,,,(11/02/23)

Terkay was a very good amateur wrestler being a former NCAA D1 Champion and fought in MMA too as well as had a little career in professional wrestling. There's a story that back in the day in OVW (WWE's developmental company at the time) Around 2001 that Terkay challenged Brock Lesnar to a fight after Lesnar was bullying one of the higher ups there, Lesnar walked away.

True! And cool story with Lesnar. So or so Terkay was besides Mighty Mo (Siala-Mou Siligia) and Jerome Le Banner the only fighter who was able to hurt Choi with headshots. Neither Semmy Schilt, Badr Hari, Ray Sefo, Remy Bonjasky, Gary Goodridge or Bob Sapp were able to give him any damage with head shots. He took all their shots without being hurt. And Sefo's right hand is dynamite, but also Sapp and Hari have much KO power in their punches. So Terkay for being no kickboxer and more a grappler than striker, this was an amazing feat! So or so he gave Bonjasky the hell of a fight in K-1. I personally had him almost winning. Remy outsmarted him, but Sylvester made him move away from him.

@@chrisbach1533 I thought Terkay won the first two rounds against Remy, Imagine if Terkay went into MMA in the 90's?

@@kevthegoat8774 So or so Remy didnt look good against him. He is so much experienced as kickboxer, but you could give the win to Terkay. But Remy also didnt look so good against Hongman. He stated before the fight he would school him etc., but he was running away most of the time. And yes man, Terkay in MMA would have been great! Brock Lesnar showed not all Pro Wrestlers are fake. Sure guys like Ted DiBiase, Rick Flair, Mark Callaway "The Undertaker", or Terrence Bollea "Hulk Hogan" wouldnt do so well in MMA, but guys like Lesnar but also Terkay are legit. Hongman gave Terkay also much credit about his power and strenght.

Terkey was very aggressive for WWE and he fought really seriously for something Lesnar would back down he was avoiding a fight where he might be hurt

Choi has become colossal or gargantuan due to the medical condition called Gigantism ( or Acromegaly ) caused by the presence of a benign tumor at the pituitary gland of brain excreting an excessive amount of growth hormone.( Another example is a French wrestler, Andre the Giant. ) He was also an ex-Korean style sumo champion who had started learning the kickboxing at his late 20s. Terkay, on the other hand, was an ex-amateur wrestling champion who turned to a pro-wrestler. So he was also new in the world of kickboxing. My analysis of this fight is in the following; Choi's compact & crispy left jobs knocked down him twice which led him to the victory over Sylvester who was faster & enduring w/ much more stamina. If it were 5 rounds, then I speculate Sylvester might have triumphed over Hong-Man, cause Hong-man was running out of gas or totally exhausted. At any rate, I was entertained & thoroughly enjoyed. I wonder if anyone feesl the same w/ my amateur analysis?!,,,,,,(03/27/23)

All correct so far :). Only some numbers: Hongman was 24 when he began with K-1. He turned 24 in October 2004, and had his final Match in korean Ssireum Wrestling in December, and finised as Runner Up, defeated by his longtime rival Young-hyun/Younghyun Kim. The fight between them stands to this day most probaly as the all time record between height and weight in combination: Younghyun: 7'1.5"=217cm | 370lbs=167.82kg Hongman: 7'2"=218cm | 387lbs=175.54kg Hongman then went down to 357.15lbs=162kg for his K-1 debut in March 2005 in his home tournament in Seoul, which he won defeating Wakashoyo, Akebono and Kaoklai. And i agree with your analysis. His gas tank was empty and Sylvester was fresher. But the two KDs were too much, my scoring was: Round 1) 10-8 Choi Round 2) 10-9 Choi Round 3) 10-9 Terkay So Choi won on my card 29-27.
