There goes that word again: underrated. If so, it means that the average listener doesn’t have the intelligence to recognize truly exceptional music. That’s no reflection on the Kinks-rather, it speaks volumes on listening audiences who “don’t get it.”

This song is so powerful; I didn't really hear it carefully until last year some time. I'm glad I discovered it.

I can't believe what a powerful impact that The Kinks had on so many bands including but not limited to Blondie, Van Halen, and others! What I don't understand is how so many websites have misheard and misprinted the lyrics to this song!!!! It actually goes; I met her in a club down in old So Ho where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry cola C-O-L-A (Coca-Cola original version) She walked up to me and she asked me to dance I asked her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola L-O-L-A- la,la,la Lola Well I'm not the world's most physical guy but when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine oh, my Lola la,la,la Lola I'm not dumb but I can't understand why she walk like woman and talk like a man oh, my Lola la,la,la Lola la,la,la Lola Well we drank champagne and danced all night under electric candle light she picked me up sat me on her knee said dear boy won't you come home with me? I'm not the world's most passionate guy but when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for her Lola la,la,la, Lola la,la,la Lola Lola la,la,la, Lola, la,la,la Lola I pushed her away I walked to the door I fell to the floor I got down on my knees and I looked at her and she at me That's the way that I wanted to stay and always wanted to be that way for my Lola la,la,la Lola Boys will be girls and girls will be boys it's mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola la,la,la Lola la,la,la, Lola Well I left home just a week before and I never ever kissed a woman before but Lola smiled took me by the hand said dear boy gonna make you a man Well I'm not the wold's most passionate man but I'm know what I am I'm glad I'm a man so is Lola la,la,la, Lola, la,la,la Lola Lola la,la,la, Lola, la,la,la Lola Lola la,la,la, Lola, la,la,la Lola Lola la,la,la, Lola, la,la,la Lola Lola la,la,la, Lola, la,la,la Lola Lola la,la,la, Lola, la,la,la Lola Lola la,la,la, Lola
