Listen, we hate Todd because he uses the move only because he has a bone lock in his arm, and when he uses the king's move, his bone lock saves him from being pinned. All you people defending him and saying it's his bicep locking, that's impossible. Sorry to tell you. He broke his arm multiple times, and it reformed into what it his now to keep him from bending it when it is compromised. What he does isn't fair and it's bullshit.

Yes legal move but MT doesn't exactly execute it properly. His elbow is no longer on the pad and its his tricep on the pad. Also coming off the pad they let him do it and they should call foul immediately. Make him work at either doing it properly and knowing he's not going to get away with sloppy arm wrestling or he should just retire!

Just seeing that last match at WAL 406 with Devon and Todd, have to agree with you that having a referee not calling for keeping the shoulder higher than the table and/or elbow on the mat is a real issue for this sport. Also, this is arm wrestling and not break the bone wrestling. If your arm is straight, you lose. If the sport keeps going in this direction, I’m afraid it will go back to a bar sport for another decade. What Todd was allowed to get away with at WAL 406 recently was a black eye to the sport and the WAL organization needs to make it right. A good example of how the kings move is more trouble than its worth. That said, also look at FIFA and the corruption of referees and how it has damaged the sport-I’d rather watch MLS. Who knows the ref could have been paid off at WAL 406 to fix match(s) and so we may have 2 significant problems with this sport and that isn’t good to get the sport off the ground in the U.S.

Almost no one will be able to pull off a kingsmove because most people never had enough trauma on their joints to the point their arms can't open properly. How many times has Todd torn his tendons/bicep and had it reattached? I don't even think he knows the exact number. Thanks why I think the move should be illegal. It's basically unfair use of a handicap. I think it's already an illegal move in Russia. Cyplenkov lost to Liliev that one time when Cyplenkov tried a kingsmove and the referee pushed his shoulder up.

You didn’t really address one of the main arguments against the kings move: elbow too often comes off the pad. You’re only “arguments” for the kings move were (1) that it’s hard and most people that hate the move can’t do it. That is attacking the debater and not their argument. (2) Other people get away with “cheating” /breaking the rules so why can’t Todd bring his shoulder below the table. That is a horrible argument. When you use other people breaking rules to justify you breaking rules, you create larger issue of having a culture that accepts accepts cheating, which is bad for the sport.

Yes. Because I have a hard enough time convincing my mates that dropping your body a bit still counts as arm wrestling - let alone dropping your body weight under the table n going no wait- my elbow is still on the pad! It’s stupid. It’s arm wrestling. Not hang off the table until they get tired arm wrestling. If it’s a strength n technique sport - let it sit in that order

The king's move does not bother me. I see it as a challenge i would overcome. I'd use it myself if it helped to keep me from getting pinned. Im trying to win, in a legal way. Thats smart, really.

I agree with lots of the comments and some of the video. To the video, I agree that it should be allowed, but I disagree with the challenge of "If you think it's cheating and it's so easy, then you try it and see what happens." Presumably the idea here is that "trying it" could easily yield a loss to the objector and thus make him realize that the move isn't as easy to perform as it may appear. This is faulty logic. Just as using PEDs doesn't guarantee me victory in an MMA fight, or using a corked bat in the MLB won't guarantee me a home run every at bat doesn't mean those things shouldn't be outlawed. Plenty of things are still hard, even if you cheat. The merits should be on the legality of the move, not the guarantee of the outcome. To the comments, I agree that the move ought to be legal, but I also think Todd takes it to a different and gross level, and yes is bad for the sport. I think the move is ok as it stands and ought to be allowed, but, as someone said below, it should be far more and better regulated than it is, and certainly should've been in the match with Larratt. Todd's elbow at points was completely off the fucking pad! If your forearm or tiny sliver of the side of your elbow is all that's left on the pad, you get an elbow foul or lose. That was bullshit. His elbow was so far off the pad and his arm so far extended beyond the pin zone, it was nearly impossible for Devon to push any farther while keeping his OWN elbow legally on his OWN pad! The whole thing was a fucking disgrace and shouldn't have been allowed to happen that way. I think they should really take a look at this moving forward.

  • @TruthTe11er

The move is fine as long as their elbow stays on the pad. Michael Todd's elbow is clearly off the pad in some matches. The refs need to be more strict in their regulation.

Michael Todd has not mastered the move. He has mastered getting away with cheating during the kings move. Both shoulders often below the table, elbow constantly off the pad and tricep often resting on the pad. Nearly every match ive watched of Michael Todd he breaks the rules and the refs never call fouls on him. Thats my issue with it. Should be stricter rules that dont allow so much slack that guys like Todd use to their advantage. As you mentioned everyone gets away with something every now and then but I cant even watch Todd wrestle anymore because its such a joke.

I remember seeing a video of michael todd saying that his move isnt a bone lock, if its not a bone lock what exactly is going on inside his arm? I have no problem with the move either btw i give just as much props no matter the style, that includes jerry cadoret. that huge norweigan strongman that i forget the name of, or anyone else with a unique style. If it fits in the rules its all good, some styles are just prettier than others.

Guy has a point, Kings Move should be legal. Also in Nascar and F1 racing the lead car shouldn't go fast, it should just drive really slowly in a way where nobody can pass them. See its all about being patient, and it takes a lot of skill for the lead car to go so slowly and still not let anyone pass.

Watch this, kzread.info/dash/bejne/d6qXypuDncq6j5c.html how Trubin kills the Kings move. Todd waits for the breather and then gets behind the opponents hand by moving the elbow superfast once. After that Trubin understood it and he won't allow Todd to get into a low angle shoulder lock (a la Larratt). Trubin also has his elbow close to the inner edge (look at his video with Brzenk), and at the "Go", slides it to the side to get a wide angle for a leveraged press. I don't think it is easy to press all of Todds weight, but Trubin does it, and forces Todd to "Get out from under the table, lest his elbow breaks", and Trubin has the strength to break the elbow on a kings move.

THANKS for your answer ! ➡I was thinking the exact same thing bro !! We all know that George can't toproll MT but neither can Michael toproll George. ➡Because if one of them tries to toproll the other one, he would lose his hand when hitting onto the other one's pronation & bone lock. SO the only way for Michael would be like u said to use his triceps press (dead wrist or hook press) but ALL guys I watched trying to defeat George with a press failed (including much heavier guys). But I guess Michael's press would be enough to "parallel" George.

I saw another match between them where George got the slip, they went to straps and it was the same story once Anthony was in a strap with him... But I'm convinced that John Brzenk can pin George. I remember back in 2014 after his match against Mask, John went to practice against George and he was clearly making George's hand touch the pad. No one else in the world can do that to George (maybe Trubin & Gasparini now)

There needs to be a more discernible method for judges to make sure that guys are not dropping too low below the table. But we have the same thing with elbow fouls, sometimes fouls are missed. It would be a bad thing to take away the creative aspect of the sport, but I have replayed matches were these really quick starting guys come off the pad and still get the win. I am all for explosive starts, but elbows got to stay on the pad.

Todd, I believe, relies on the king's move cuz his arm is messed up after having been fractured 70+ times. Check out his older matches, his match against Neil Pickup, I think, well demonstrates what he's capable of without the King's move but also the kind of shit he's been through that lead to his arm getting fractured 70 times and why the king's move is a safer way for him to pull today. His match against Dirk Schenker also shows what Todd's capable of

I've always been very entertained watching Michael Todd!!!! The thing I've noticed is he's became either weaker with his side pressure and or the ability to take the hit from someone really strong without dropping straight into the king's move! If you watch his earlier past matches he didn't use to automatically dive straight into the king's move. He could in the past actually arm wrestler and use other moves but at least to me it seems like he's lost strength . Still love the guy he's a badass !! I do miss his shit talking and stuff that's another thing he's chilled out on , it's probably his age he's definitely looking older as well!

as an interested but untalented observer, it seems like if an arm wrestler's arm is as straight as it will go (I've heard some arm wrestlers can't straighten their arms fully), shouldn't that mean they have lost?

It shouldn't be outlawed. But the referees must enforce the rules. Plus they should put a rule where the elbow must always on top of the pad

I think you should be limited to a time frame in the king-move or a fowl. It can’t be a go to every match.

Just because the kings move is difficult to pull off doesn’t negate the fact that for most people it’s not relevant to the sport of Armwrestling.

Most people hate it, so I say ban it or modify the rules for it. Any time a man's arm is fully extended to it's maximum that should be a pin.

I never saw it till I started watching agin 20 years later. My biggest move was to hold bigger guys and just try and let them wear themselves out. Then id make my move. But like i said ive been out of it for 20+ years.

As long as the elbow is on top of the pad it should be legal. Todd didn't win against Larette the ref just wasn't watching.

the edblow locks on the side of the pad.. so the side of the pad is like a second hand helping the main arm..its like using 2 arms.. in bench press the benchers use the chest strap to help bench 400 pounds more for a world record 1,100.. same way to cheat to get a little extra leverage.. in armwrestling the elbow should be on top of the pad and not on the table off the pad and using the edge of the pad as leverage

King’s move is fine, but Michael Todd put all his weight on the metal table at times, which is a penalty. Also I feel if the arm is completely straight, the arm arm is compromised and should be considered a loss.

Could someone snap his arm doing this? is that very likely? I've seen some serious pressur be put on it before.. it's like the opponent is after a pin by just snapping the arm if he has to. Todd's arm is far more suited for this, than the majority of the viewers..

Dont ban the whole adjust the rules like there should always be an angle near 45 degrees for the arms plus shoulders should always be higher than the table and elbows should always be within the pads not around it.

The first matches seemed fine. Todd had a running foul in the last match, where he was using the elbow pad as support. His elbow was literally on the table, leaning against the pad. That is a very serious foul on its own, not even thinking about the other fouls he is in. Devon won that match, the referees failed.
