Great lecture
Love it
Hi Ben, great lecture. Thanks. I love the KID. But I am one of those that you mentioned in the lecture. I do both "plays all the same moves no matter what white plays" and "only knows it so far then just plays legal moves". LOL. Clearly, I am not very good at it and my record with it is not very good but I hope to start figuring out the different lines. There is a great young NM that has a youtube channel, Robert Ramirez, that loves the KID/PIRC and has many videos on it. Cheers!

Best Intro
isnt the leningrad dutch just better then the kings indian defense? I mean, regarding, you want to play f5 in the KiD anyway. So you dont lose that time with the knight jumps in the leningrad. Or is that to simplified of a view?If yes, why? Thanks in advance :D

This is a really funny question because objectively kid is better opening then the dutch. Yes you play f5 in kid but you do so most of the times when the center is already locked, in dutch on the other hand you play f5 on first move and white can answer with many things so its not like you get same positions as in kid, where you win tempo because you did not have to move knight, no you get completely different positions.

f5 is good when white closes the center cause by closing up the position and by giving up so much space queenside and middle you gain some dominance kingside. In the leningrad if you push every pawns kingside white should be able to open up everything middle and punish you, where in the kid they can't do that. They have to survive the attack long enough to win queenside. It's 2 very different openings. Also the kid isn't about playing e5 and f5 every game, you can get plenty of structures where you don't care about f5 : maroczy bind, benoni, benko, exchange structure and boleslavski wall. Ideally you have to be ready to play all of these structures in which most of the time you don't need f5.

@@nikamumladze8220 Which is why the Stonewall is objectively better than both the Leningrad and KID, because you ensure the center is blocked and also you don't have to give away your intentions from move one. Carlsen agrees and has beaten Anand and Fabi with the Stonewall as black. Fight me.

@@nikamumladze8220 This is a metaphorical and tongue in cheek definition of "agrees" (hence "fight me") but I'm not 100% certain he disagrees. I mean probably he does, because at the super GM level the stonewall probably is too rigid compared to KID, but it's certainly not losing for black even at the super GM level, which is more than you can say for many things that aren't commonly seen at the super GM level. Anyway, he did indeed defeat Anand and Fabi with Stonewall as black in slow games; that part wasn't tongue in cheek. Stonewall is incredibly underrated nowadays, at all levels. Actually the more I think about it the more I'm not sure Stonewall isn't objectively better. It depends strongly on which move order we're talking about (are we excluding anti-Stonewalls or aren't we?) , but even though it's more rigid, the Stonewall doesn't automatically cede the center like KID does.

Lol the "political stuff" is making fun of Donald trump, who broke all of his promises in office and then tried to install himself as a post-democracy regime when he lost an election. You're probably not made for this game if you're getting offended over trump jokes.
