This is a severely underrated performance. Haven’t heard such a good rendition in a very long time.

Not by several other posters they aren't....they justify comparison with Harry Christopher's 16...which is saying something. An interesting contrast by two superb groups performing the works of mighty Handel!

They did have Zadok and I think the balance of music was well done at the Coronation , though I am not much of a monarchist. @@alishalileh

I do believe that was the most awesome and awe-inspiring performance of the king shall rejoice I have ever heard.

My god Handel and these immensely talented people truly hold the keys to heaven, theirs nothing more uplifting and beautiful than Handel's music sung by by these wonderful talented singers and musicians, we are so privileged to hear this music we are truly blessed.

I enjoy Handel's music very much. I don't think there is any composition of his that I don't like.

I have never heard this ,my favourite Coronation Anthem, sung so well. I have been listening to and singing Handel's music for 70 years and this performance is really special.I could go on in detail but really it would be only words.Suffice to say that the vocal quality, the precision without sacrificing musical emotion is wonderful.I came across you by chance and you have made my day. Also- a great band! Please come to the UK. The recording quality is also great.

I love the sixteen and have heard them live but I am so impressed by Seraphic Fire.They are much smaller in number but make a fantastically powerful sound and the band is great.

Having listened to both The Christophers version and Seraphic Fire on numerous occasions I think listening on you tube Seraphic Fire is not a poor second but a first.

IMHO Seraphic Fire and the Sixteen are equally good but different. SF's use of soloists, and its smaller ensemble give the piece a less uniform quality than the Sixteen. " ...Pay your money .."..as they say. For me the key is always Handel's genius...which is regaining rightful recognition.

Seraphic Fire has to be my favorite ensemble of all time. They are so versatile and sound like pros no matter what. Anything from this Baroque piece to contemporary pieces like I Will Lift Mine Eyes by Jake Runestad.

This performance is a joy, such polish and feeling for the style of the period. I wish I was there, it must have been magic!

I was about to just do same this morning when I came across my comment. Simply goes to show how well executed your job is to attract my comment so easily. Kudos again for such great execution.

The talent on that stage is amazing. Who said you need a group of 100 singers to execute these choruses well. This is sublime ❤

Superb performance by superb artists -great location. Something is added by the fact that the Coronation Anthems are still used for the same purpose and in the same place that Handel wrote them for 300 years ago. (Westminster Abbey is a sort of musical hotspot with its own store of great music written for it (eg Handel, Croft, Blow, Purcell, Matthew Locke etc, etc, etc . I can only think of the Vatican as having the same living tradition.)

Handel would rejoice too!

Dupre’s keen ear allows him to blend SATB in ways that perhaps only the original composer envisioned and heard in his heart when composing this piece!
