Johnny starts it off at 190bpm (beats per minute) and within seconds, Vannucci (the drummer) seriously rushes the tempo and is suddenly pounding it out at 230bpm. I can only imagine what that did to Johnny's adrenaline. That's a tough part to play at 190 but 230?? Johnny never shows any signs of stress or panic. He stays cool through the whole thing. Living legend.

That's exactly how you do this shit. Well rehearsed, well worked, well played by Johnny Marr and the rest of the band were epic. Vocals were smashed - this is what it's all about! Bloody brilliant.

Didn't ever think another vocalist could do this phenomenal song justice...but of course I was wrong. Branden sings like he fully understands the sentiments behind the lyrics and sings with total fidelity. And of course 'Why pamper life's complexity when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat' is the best lyric ever written.

@@bright9187 It's a fruitless pursuit to try and sing a Smiths song differently and have it come out better. Eventually the only way is to copy the original, which is why Smiths covers end up sounding like a diminished version of the original. This version is some festival fun though, at least Marr didn't try to sing it.

One of my favs covering one of my favs... I know Flowers is supposed to be super straight and christian dad and all, but Hot Fuss is one of my most listened to records and the between the lines homoeroticism (And youre a star, etc) is one of the best parts (as with Morrissey and the Smiths - Morrissey gives you SO MUCH STORY to imagine around just a few words). Sorry for the four yrs later reply but ive been down a morrissey revisit rabbithole all wk...
