About The Killers:
The Killers are a Las Vegas-based four-piece who formed in 2003, featuring the talents of singer/keyboardist Brandon Flowers, drummer Ronnie Vanucci, guitarist Dave Keuning and bassist Mark Stoermer. The band has received countless accolades for their artistic achievement, including multiple Grammy nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards, NME Awards and more.Their first album, Hot Fuss, was released in 2004 to worldwide acclaim. The album contained the singles “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me,” in addition to the anthemic song “All These Things That I’ve Done,” which has since been referenced by the likes of U2 and Coldplay. The band toured for two years straight behind Hot Fuss, playing more than four-hundred shows, and eventually returned to Vegas to begin to work on the follow-up album with legendary producers Alan Moulder and Flood. The result, a love letter of sorts to their hometown entitled Sam’s Town, was released in 2006 and spent forty-two weeks on the Billboard Top 200.A b-sides collection entitled Sawdust was released in 2007, followed by their third studio album, Day & Age, which was released to widespread critical praise in 2008, anchored by massive single “Human.”The Killers released Battle Bornin September 2012, which saw them expanding their world tour into countries they’ve never visited before, and finally were honored to perform at the world-renowned Wembley Arena, one of the most monumental and significant shows of their career. After a decade of making music, in November 2013, The Killers released a “Best Of” collection, Direct Hits, which featured two incredible new songs alongside classics from the band’s revered catalogue. The band, who have sold over twenty-five million albums worldwide, and headlined all of the world’s top festivals (Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury), released their newest studio album, Wonderful Wonderful, in September 2017, where it landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart the week of its release, as well a stopping the charts in the U.K. and Australia. The album is the band’s fifth consecutive number one in the U.K., and Brandon Flowers’ seventh U.K. number one overall.

I’m almost 45 years old, my son who is 20 years younger than me, introduced me to The Killers about 5 years ago when we were driving to Arkansas from Oklahoma. He played Prize Fighter and told me it reminded him of me💙 His father and I have been married for 26 years. 7-8 years ago his father got into a fist fight with another man and unfortunately the other man died and his father was sentenced to prison for manslaughter. During our drive to Arkansas I was already won over with Prize Fighter and then he said this song reminds me of u and dad and he played Dustland Fairytale 💙 To me it was as if The Killers were writing songs about our life and I became an instant fan!!!! Then in 2019 I heard that The Killers were coming to Oklahoma City and I immediately ordered tickets for us!!! It’s been a year this month since that concert and it was by far the best concert ever that either one of us have attended!!! They even played this song!!! The Killers music is something that my son and I will always share and love!! No matter what kind of hell is going on in our lives we can turn on The Killers and it’s as if everything is alright. So I just wanted to tell The Killers that Stacey & Slade Tosh from Oklahoma City are their biggest fans and that their music means more than words can say to us and for that we’d like to offer the most sincerest thank you!!!! We hope they’ll come back to Okc again soon cause we will certainly be there!!!!!!!! 💙 The Killers 💙

To say the Beatles are overrated is ridiculous. They created the blueprint from which virtually all other bands since have followed. Their influence over popular music is so gargantuan it can't ever be quantified. Most artists today, from any genre, will cite them as a direct influence, or at least as an influence on the artists that influenced them. Long rant but I really hate it when people say the Beatles are overrated.

I lost my dad recently to that same disgusting illness, and through this song, I understand exactly what he felt. This outrageously amazing song makes me cry every time, gives me everlasting goose bumps; especially when I heard them live, and I feel more and more proud that I am a Victim with every single time I hear this song, and the lyrics. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

JuanjoMC10 In fairness, Brandon himself has said this song is about losing his mother to cancer after a 2 year battle. Cindarella is his mother in this song... And I think it's just all those emotions pouring out.. He's clearly angry at the world that one of the "good girls" died... and I believe the majority of that verse about how the fields don't grow, the birds don't sing and the bells don't ring is a play on the baroness of the desert around Vegas but also how he feels since her passing... He can't hear the birds singing or the bells ringing anymore... he feels such a gap in his life that the grass doesn't even grow anymore...

It's about his mom's cancer. Hence the final stanza "now Cinderella don't you go to sleep, it's such a bitter form of refuge. Why don't you know the kingdom is under siege, and everybody needs you. Is there still magic in the midnight sun, or did you leave it back on 61'? In the cadence of a young man's eyes, where the dreams all hide" he wants her to not give up and let go, that everybody needs her and he's wondering if there's still hope left - "or did you leave it back in 69' in the cadence of a young man's eye, where the dreams all hide" - specifically his fathers hope for her. I suck at explaining it through text so sorry if I don't make sense
