I can’t begin to describe how important this machine is. I would give everything I have to receive one. To be able to come off immunosuppressants would be life changing. I’m not sure how much longer my body can sustain itself with such a high dose of medication

I remember the wearable kidney...I followed Dr. Roy for several year..it was testef in England and it worked but it weighed too much. Then I read some years ago Dr. Roy sold the project to Fresenius Medical Care. My nephrologist confirmed this. I said; that pretty much shelves that project. Never heard again about the wearable kidney. I am thanking God that after 14.5 years on dialysis I have a transplant that is functioning beautifully.

I've been on pd dialysis going on 8 years I've been keeping up with the kidney project ever since I got on dialysis I don't see an artificial kidney in the next 10 years maybe 15 years , I remember Dr. Roy had black hair when he started on it .

As I have been recently diagnosed with kidney cancer and had it identified to me that I only have the one effected kidney, this gives me hope that I will not have to live my life on dialysis and may not have the prolonged wait until I can even go on the transplant list. This gives some light in a very dark path, Thank you.

Been on treatment now for for years. Due to PKD, I recently had both of my kidneys removed. I heard about this machine about 3 years ago. Been crossing my fingers every since. Please update when this product will be available. I don't understand though, we have home dialysis now, we do not have a mechanical kidney; why would you put more priority on the home treatment?

yes your right! ! because once implantable kidney becomes available nurses in the dialysis section will be out of job and the pharmaceutical company which supply the meds for hemo and home dialysis(peritoneal dialysis) will lost millions of profit...plus the company who manufacture the hemo machine and the home patient machine will likely lost profit when implantable kidney comes in...These are multi national companies who influence govt and law maker to protect their profit and let people die of their disease as long as they make profit...its like a domino effect from the big Pharma, manufacturing company down to the to dialysis nurses they will all lost $

The research should move out of US to some European country for quick progress.

This is the largest percentage out of any other field. Many people are getting rich from the suffering of others. There are reasons for keep people on dialysis, money is a huge reason.

Proper timeline of available in market

I am 50, with 22 ml per minute, initiating futher testing this week. I am interested in being considered for trials. I care for my 90 year old mother, and must be well and ALIVE to care for her. Please, let me know what I need to to to be prepared as a subjetct for human trials.

The comments complaining that eleven years is an unreasonable length of time to develop a bioartificial kidney and that "powerful forces who profit from dialysis" are standing in the way are simply ignorant. The development of bioartificial organs are incredibly difficult and there are many scientific hurdles to overcome. That, and funding, are the only things standing in the way.

Waiting very badly

One thing is unclear why celebrities like Selena Gomez etc do not donate this project. Dont they know about it?. I have seen Selena Gomez does donate to various NGOs in her Instagram story. Does she not believe in them or something is hidden here which normal people do not know but the powerful people know.

How about i seen and read about Japan has a nano kidney that is helping folks who are on dialysis live without being hooked to a machine. My kidney failure is due to radiation that burnt my ureters and destroyed my bladder so now I have nephrostomy tube currently in left kidney the right one stopped completely producing. I am interested in getting artificial kidney but not sure how that would work as my bladder doesnt work anymore could it possibly drain into my nephrostomy bag?
