One of the last skaters I'd expect to see making YT content, but without a doubt the best content I've seen from a "real skateboarder", instant subscribe! Cant wait to see more.

yup! cant skip over the basics...they are stepping stones for everything else in skateboarding! the better you have them the easier everything will fall into place ! THANKS for watching!
I love how skateboarders always explain with hand gestures of a tech deck. It's a visual thing, I understand.
Dam. Best tip trick channel out. Gold mine.
I used to skate when I was 15-22 yrs old, but I couldn't skate as long as I wanted to because my heart would begin to go crazy (episodes of 180+ bpm), which made me feel more tired compared to the actual work I did. Last year, a cardiologist finally located the root of the problem: I had "an irregular arrythmia" (his words); the electrical impulses were not firing properly. Now, a few months after surgery and I haven't had any episodes - watching these videos have made me want to jump on my board again. After I get back into the groove of it, I can't wait to start front nose slides and back tails on a ledge at this new park they built. Hope you're still skating strong, Tom. Thanks for these tips.
tom ur definition of a pro skateboarder !! always loved the skating over the years !!!

Love that explanation for the back tail, always wanted to get that trick
such an amazing breath of fresh air for "skate KZread" to have an actual real pro skater talk about all the details
I like how he teaches you via his own mistakes made and he works you through if you’re having the same problems
Man! Thanks so much Tom! So stoked to go practice getting a good lock-in on my tricks. Much love!
This information is worth millions. I would've like to see how to control fs noseslides in further distances.
Flat bar for sure! Also watching the back tails was so satisfying.
"Your upper body is just as important as your tailslide... and your lower body is for holding the slide"😂 Tom is such a skate bro, I love it. Good channel
Crazy work ethic, Tom. Always loved watching you skate so having you on YT now is so sick. Props 🙏
Great vid dude! For me personally it really helped incorporating core training on off days, this includes rotational core exercises as well as static exercises. In my opinion this is a big key to holding slides/grinds for a long time, because it teaches the body how to get from a 'soft' core(while popping) to solid core when landing in the slide/grind and holding it. Also the timing of squeezing the core and learning how to 'release' it (generally in all skate tricks) at the right time is a technique that a lot of people lack.

Some of these details are things you wouldn't realize without years of skateboarding experience. I learned some things here and I've been skating for 20 years. Thanks Tom!
I definitely suffer from not having a trick on lock but trying to get it to slide long. Thats how I was with crooks, I would haul ass and lock into a nice crook but slowly slip into noseslide because I was focusing on the wrong things. Perfect timing for this video, thanks tom

good luck with the crooks! these things take time too! so be patient and keep at it!
Glad you threw in the back tail as a extra, heaps of viewers will appreciate that and im sure you know why 💪
bro that little carve thing you said on the back tails honestly helped me so much with them. thank you so much !
Wow that’s some insight! Thankyou! Do some smith backsmith grinds on ledge and how to hold and pop out of it. 🙏🏼
used to watch you in 2011 and im still watching you now!
I do the same alley oop for back tails, helps me put my weight on the ledge. really insightful tips on bs nosegrinds, gonna try to learn them next session, thank you so much you got me hyped
Thanks for the videos Tom, always a treat😊 It’s really nice to try out your tips and tricks. Being a 40+ skater now I have started doing more shuvs in and out of grinds and slides. I don’t know how you feel about those but it would be awesome to hear your point of view and tips in a video one day👍🏼 Thanks again for all your hard work on these videos, I enjoy them all!
Great tips, can't wait to hit the park again and go test it out
Tom you are actually really good at teaching , No Bs just step by step good advice
This is super helpful dude! I've been working on my back tails a lot lately and am going to put these tips to work.
Lovely vid definitely quality stuff. I hope more pros follow your lead in the future and share the knowledge they have.
That was a sick video, loved that kick back tail fakie and the back nose grind from the side

THANK YOU SO MUCH TOM, i f... needed this :)))
This is definitely gonna help big thanks Tom
Thank you for the precious tips.
All my life I've been in a small town with no parks nearby, but I just relocated to somewhere with a nice skate plaza and this was the perfect video for getting me exposed to ledge tricks. Thanks Tom!
Great video! For me it was so weird, one day I was practicing my FS Tailslide, had them on lock so started practicing FS Noseslide. As soon as I started getting them on lock, out of nowhere I unlocked my FS Nosegrind and FS Crooks! It was magical learning all of those tricks in a single day and having them on lock from then on. Oh and I also unlocked nose manual on a 3-deck high box which was scary before for me.
For years I've had very inconsistent fs noseslides and I watched this video for shits and giggles and went out to try it with the tips you mentioned and its as if I mastered them today in all but 20 minutes. This is the only tutorial thats ever done this for me, thank you!
Appreciate the tips from you Tom!!! Part 2 would love tips to slide fs noseslide, halfcab noseslides. Smiths, feebles, & whatever!

Wow this was very helpful! I've been skating for about 18 years and I just moved to Barcelona. The Skaters here do the longest slides ever and so my new goal was to be able to do improve my Backtails and stuff to go the long way. The way you explained and the tricks you picked were in my opinion the perfect combination to learn any other slides/grinds. Also the trys when you approached the tricks are very important to understand the way to get there. Thanks a lot Tom. Big inspiration. Glad I found your channel! PS: I would be hyped if there is a video about the diffirent ways to flip out. Like Backtail flip out, Noseslide heelflip out and stuff.
I love your videos Tom! I would love to see more grinds and slides trick tips!

(on rail fs feeble and fs blunt are mystery for me )
Back nose slides are about the only ones that I can do. Watching this really reminds me that I need to work on some new stuff more. I'm thinking back crooks might be a good next step. Great video. 👁️💚🛹

Nollie crooks and flip fs tailslides!
so satisfying to watch you clear that ledge 👍 i wonder if maybe i can't do longer noseslides and crooks because of the ledges in my area (Poland lol) which are just terrible. i feel like i did get the basics down as you said really well, but i either don't have enough room to set up or the ledge just has some cracks. some people can still clear them, so idk, but i know that these ledges (and non-existent rails) made me the flatground skater i am today who can kickflip manual (sometimes) but can't do a proper 5-0 or noseslide
Super dope breakdown super hooked !!!! I use to skate now I have Multiplesclerosis so now I just stay aware of these things … hopefully I get back to it !!

its more like a pressure jump to the side..learn riding in nosmanny on flat, and try to nollie to the side out of nose manny...you give a push foward then a quick hop to the side hope that helps!
mAsta of disAsta A little throwback to a round of BATB with Tom Asta & P-rod. At the time P-rod had a film crew with him to do a few episodes of basically a day in the life. During the time of filming P-rod was getting ready for his round 3 battle with Tom. Can’t remember which BATB it was. Anyway the name of the episode was “mAsta of DisAsta”
