One of the most IMPORTANT aspects of the golf swing is the hip turn.
Really good players nail this EVERY TIME - all golfers rotate, but most forget to TILT their hips.

Great video, working on the same thing currently. Understanding that the lead knee can flex more forward and the trail leg is aloud to straighten was the ahah moment to creating the feel to get the right pattern. Well explained

Thank you so much for this video. I've apparently had a very flat hip turn, and as a result I've had an incredibly difficult time trying to apply your "recentering magic" and "framing the ball" to my swing. I could get my hips forward but my chest and head would stay back, causing my hands to stay back and scoop the ball. This video along with your pros vs am hip rotation video really, really helped me. My left hip goes up now around the center of my pelvis, and my upper body FINALLY recentered and fell forward - my hands were in front of the ball at impact and I actually compressed the ball, correctly! I can't thank you guys enough. Love the gears and drill videos.

Thanks so much for your teaching. I have improved so much watching your videos, you’ve dispelled a lot of myths that held me back for a long time. I was wondering if you might do a video talking about the idea of the head decreasing in elevation as the downswing starts. I’ve noticed every pro does it but taping myself I can’t seem to understand how to achieve it or why it’s important. I’m sure there are proper body movements that lead to this lowering.

Using GEARS, have you guys measured the amount of hip tilt to shoulder tilt in PRO's. I wasn't sure if there was a standard ratio, or if it depended more on other factors such as golfer height, forward bend, etc. Be curious to know what you guys see in the backswing vs. impact ratio. Love all that you are doing with you videos. It's made a huge difference for me. It allows me to take what my coach and I are working on and further refine what the motion looks like using what you guys produce.

You gotta find the cause first. The swing takes 1 second, try making a 5 second full swing. At that speed our flaws become very evident which is good for finding what's causing those tops. Impact is always a reaction to came before it, so look there first.

I'm curious to know what you guys have to say about how the ankles relate to the knee bend (without which the pelvis will not tilt properly)? Good players don't just change the flex of their knees; they also seem to "break" the knees behind or towards the ball. I find it helpful to "unweight" the left heel on the backswing to help the knee not only flex but move inward; it is especially important for me to get off the right heel on the downswing so that my knee flex increases in the proper plane of motion (if that makes sense.) DJ and Xander Shauffele, to my eyes anyway, are excellent examples of this. I guess the knees are only designed to flex-extend in the sagittal plane. Trying to roll my ankles tended to cause me to slide my hips; consequently, my hips were I did not have enough hip tilt at impact. Any thoughts?

In the hip turn and tilt video in the 1.5 minute to 2 minute time interval the drawing shows at the top of the backswing the hips are at -41 degrees and the shoulders are at -107 degrees. At contact the hips are at 44 degrees and the shoulders are at 11 degrees. Hoever in the Free distance gift video at the 2 minute 43 second point you say a good golfer only has 2 degrees of difference between the shoulders and hips at impact. Is the hip turn video drawing actually of an Ams as opposed to a Pro?

I know this video is a little old but it did open eyes to couple of things which leads me to some questions. Doesn't George Gankas encourage level hips throughout the swing? Not saying he's correct or incorrect, but what are the major differences and results between level hips and tilted hips?

Pretty sure he encourages a tilt on the start of the backswing.

Level hips is a disaster on the backswing...sets you for not being able to use the ground effectively in transition (lack of torque)...

The amount of bad swing theory I've seen in my life is criminal. When I was young, I was told I had a million dollar swing and I rarely had a lesson because my father didn't want anyone messing with it. It might have looked good, but it often felt bad. Only when I really went off the rails did I get a lesson, and I was usually good to go immediately once I was told what I was doing wrong. Watching your videos has been a revelation. I'm working on routing out some bad habits from swinging with a bad left knee since my 20s. Now two years out of a TKR, I can make the lower body moves you teach without discomfort. Repeating it is another thing, but it does just feel right when executed. Thanks.

I appreciate what you guys do but if 70 percent of non tour golfers can't swing a club the right way, why aren't golf instructors teaching us a different way? First it was x factor, which was hard to do. Now it's the complete opposite, which just happens to be equally as hard to do... It's no wonder many of us don't bother with instruction, we're not getting anything out of it but frustration.
