The Kettle Pizza: Pizza in just over 4 minutes!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Edit: It’s amazing to look back at how much of a Pizza making amateur I was. The comments here are totally correct and justified! Think this was the 3rd or 4th Pizza I cooked with the KP.

This is a very good idea. I'm going to build a base for the Kettle! Could definitely be taller......the Weber performer would probably be perfect too.

Hi Derek! Technically, you could probably do that, but it wouldn't be terribly safe. Also, if you check out my video of setting it up you'll see that I put the stone closer to the opening than the fire, so it's not dead center on the rack. So with the setup I prefer it wouldn't work very well to turn the entire unit. All this said.....turning it isn't tough at all if you let the crust bake for just a bit on that stone and this is how the real wood fired places do it so its authentic!!!!

Put a good layer of corn meal on your pizza peel and it will do double duty. It keeps it from sticking to peel and the stone. Turn the stone or turn with a peel. Much easier.

Regboy - Yes it was awesome! I've made 50 or more pizzas. I would put these pizzas against any restaurant in my area. Toddster - Thanks for writing! Sorry you can't see! I wish I could give the exact URL of the entire review I did (probably me, but KZread won't let me). This video goes with it and another video of the setup and many pics. It's out on BBQRevolutiondotcom on the blog page. I think it's worth it but up to you of course. I hope you and your family have a wonderful day.

How did you initially fire up your oven? That fire looks extremely hot, and the way I fire up mine, well it doesnt look anywhere near the quality of yours!

Other than not having a spatula the length of a boat oar, his technique is very similar to videos I see of Chefs cooking in a real pizza oven. I wonder would there be an benefit to the device being slightly taller.

I have owned several versions of lots of different pizza ovens for the back yard and my 3 favorites are the KettlePizza (an insert for the Weber 22), Ooni and the Green Mountain Grills pizza insert. My two cents..... In terms of pizza quality, here’s how I rank them with no bias... 1. KettlePizza and it’s by a wide margin. This is the only one that uses a true wood fire and I would put the pizza up against any wood fired restaurant I’ve been to. It’s legit. You can also cook up to a 16” Pie if you get the Pro 22. 2. GMG Pizza insert. It does a really good job and also has the space for larger pizzas, up to 14”. The taste is very consistent and reliable 3. Ooni. Works great, super portable, but the floor space is small as you can really only get a 12-13” Pizza in there unless you get the Pro. Also, I often have soot tasting issues cooking with this and of these 3, the risk of having an off tasting pizza is highest. In terms of convenience / ease of use: 1. GMG by a hair. It’s the easiest to run because it’s all automated, but it’s the least portable of them all since you have to have the smoker too. It also requires electricity. 2. Ooni and I would make it #1, but it can be tougher to run in windy conditions. The portability is tops in the market. You simply cannot beat how small it is and how easy it is to setup. 3. KettlePizza. While this one makes the absolute best pizza, it does take real fire management and lots of fuel to run. You have to run several sticks of wood to keep the heat. I find it all worth it, but it’s a different animal than pellets. Also - I do like the Roccbox and Adore ovens and if you are looking for a gas option, don’t overlook the Blackstone. The Blackstone is amazing in terms of heat consistency, but like the Roccbox - it’s tough to get real wood tastes so the wood fired and pellet fireds stand above. I have videos on how to run them all on my KZread Page. Good luck and ask me anything you need help with: m.kzread.info?uid=noacxYkeAW1VeECLeb6kvA

What did this take for Ever??? Why couldn't you peel it and move it easier earlier on? I have been a pizzaiolo in Italy and this does not look like t is working out well by the time it is out it should be charcoal according to the time you spent in it in this video.

This was the first wood fired pizza I ever cooked. I've improved a bit since then I think, or at least I'm trying to! This oven is my favorite for the backyard. Pizzas in 90 seconds or so. I'm sure you are a great cook. Thanks for watching!

I see all these people trying to turn their pizzas on this thing... my question is, if the grate is attached to the collar and there are handles, couldn't you just turn the whole KettlePizza to get even cooking?
