I just realized something. Daniel learned crane kick while Dre learned a snake-form variant. Most Chinese martial arts would trace their origins from the legend of a monk observing a crane and snake fight. He was fascinated how the snake was able to deflect the attacks of the crane. Some martial arts schools would even put out the picture of the crane and snake along with the yin-yang symbol. The 2010 film was not simply a homage to the past. Rather, it complemented it. It even completed the entire yin-yang/Karate Kid circle, as seen in the finishers of Daniel and Dre.

This clip is very similiar to what Bruce Lee said about water. Bruce Lee quoted- "Be formless, shapeless, like water. You put water in a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow, or it can crash. Be water my friend." - Bruce Lee I wonder if this clip emphasizes that quote, since Bruce Lee was a martial artist as well.

I supposed he has too many options to choose his career. Children of celebrities may focus on acting, singing or career related to their parents, and they are giant magnetic to big branding investments, I mean who wouldn't want Will Smith's kid as their spokesman? Problem lies on what kind of guidance their parents given them, to focus on a single career or try everything? Will Smith is the latter.

when Dre did the exact movement as the female master did with the snake, the snake thought it was looking at a mirror image of itself. due Chengs confusion of what Dre was doing he probably thought he was fighting an opponent but little did he know, that was fighting a mirror image of himself and makes sense when you put all the pieces together. Dre was the master and Cheng was the snake.

Interesting if you watch Up Man they said that this is the legend of how Wing Chun started that a woman observed a crane fighting a snake. The concept of being still and anticipating your enemies moves to throw them off balance and then overload them with input. It relates to the constant push and pull nature to yin and yang.
