The Julian Assange Show Episode 1: Nasrallah (2012)

The Julian Assange Show Episode 1: Nasrallah (2012): A freedom fighter to some, a terrorist to others, this is Hassan Nasrallah's his first interview in the West since 2006. From a secret location in Lebanon, Nasrallah gives Assange a rare and frank insight into his vision for the future of the Middle East.

"This is exactly what America and Israel want for Syria", Nasrallah insists. He also blames Al Qaeda for "trying to turn Syria into a battleground". He's certainly not holding back, and with Assange throwing the questions the revelations keep on coming. He believes in Bashar al Assad: "I personally found that President Assad was very willing to carry out radical and important reforms. But the opposition needs to agree to dialogue."
But it's not only Syria that's on the agenda. He vehemently denies allegations of corruption pointed at Hezbollah. "This is part of the rumours that they wanted to use to discredit Hezbollah and distort its image. It's part of the media war against us." What about Hezbollah's violent past? "Hezbollah resorted to bombing civilians only to prevent Israel from shelling our civilians" he says. So what is next for Hezbollah's campaign against Israel? And what does Nasrallah really want for the future of the region?

    Initially Sweden wanted him arrested and sent back there for trial. He was given safety in an ecuadorian asylum in London for seven years. Although that Swedish case against him was eventually dropped, he was arrested more than once in the past for breaching bail conditions, and ever since he's been sitting in a jail whilst his own lawyer fights the US lawyers in a UK court. Perhaps he will be thrown out anyway if thought assange supporters will kick up enough of a fuss in the US for the next president to give in and allow his release, to boost their own party reputation. As unlikely as that is. The US want him in their own courts for a lifetime sentence of what they describe as their largest security breach of all time, and it's now up to the court to allow a final hearing against the extradition to throw him on a plane to the US later this month or next. Similar happened to two US men in the 1970s with vietnam war info, CIA agent Phillip Agee and Pentagon paper leaker Daniel Ellsberg. One was thrown out, but to another country instead of the US, and the other went into hiding. @@hasnfyf

    Just off top I’m going to say, if there is zero tolerance for open communication, and each side refuses to acknowledge the others point of view, the paths towards reconciliation are severely limited. That’s what happens when those in power occlude the reality of the situations overseas, dehumanize the enemy, and paint the narrative as black and white.

  • @ffii7773

    @ffii7773

    4 ай бұрын

    Google "Dahiya Doctrine". There is no military solution to defeat Hezbollah, so the official Israeli strategy is to deliberately destroy civilian targets in order to obtain political and military concessions from those who resist. This is not me who says this, but the Israeli military and political elite who regularly threaten to "return Lebanon to the stone ages". There is a definition for this strategy and it is called terrorism, i.e. the use of random violence directed against innocents in order to achieve political and economic goals.

    you should answer this - where was the Israeli state in 1800? What were its major cities? What were the borders? What was its capital? Who was the president of the Israeli jewish state in 1800? Is it not the case that zionists invented the spoken Hebrew language, because no one heard it hundreds of years, so now the Israelis speak something concocted that may not even sound like the Hebrew language? Is it not true that Jews as a nation was invented by the zionists ? - the only thing that connected Jews in 1900 was their religion, but they were coming from different states, had different languages, different cultures, different nationalities and different ethnicities? Is it not the case that the whole Jewish state is an invention of a few political zionists that originated in the 19. century? Isn't it true that today most Jews are secular so even the single connecting factor of the past is slowly fading away and was replaced by the made up Hebrew language and the zionist project of the Jewish state? Isn't it right that in 1900 the territory that we today call Israel, was 90 per cent inhabited by indigenous palestinian arabs? Isn't it true that most Jews came to that land in the late 19 - 20 century, ethnically cleansed the territory, stole the arabic land and proclaimed it their State? Did the indigenous arabic people that were being ethnically cleansed and the neighbouring countries have a right to attack the zionist fashists that were trying to establish that state and steal that land? Is it true that ethnic cleansing and stealing other people's land, occupation and apartheid are wrong and under international law can be resisted by lethal force? Isn't it true that in 1947 the UN passed resolution 181 where it called for resolution of the conflict by creation of two states in return for the recognition of the nascent Israeli state? Isn't it true that although at that time there were 1 300 000 arabs living in the territory and only 600 000 jews , in that resolution the UN proposed to create Jewish state on 56 per cent of that territory and only the rest was reserved for the Arabs? Isn't it true that that division was unjust towards the Arabs? Did the Arabs have the right to not accept such unjust division? Isn't it right that in the subsequent war Israelis expelled cca 800 000 arabs from their land (ethnically cleansed the land) and absorbed 80 % of the territory? Isn't it true that in the 1967 war Israel conquered territory by war, including West Bank and Gaza and under UN Charter it is prohibited to acquire land by war? Isn't it true that according to UN resolution 242, Israel must leave these occupied territories and Palestinian state should be formed under pre 1967 borders and in return the neighbouring arab states should recognize Israel as a state? Isn't it true that all countries of the Arab league complied with resolution 242 and recognised Israel as a state, but Israel refused to accept its part of the deal, refused to leave the occupied territories and to this date opreses the Arabic population living there and builds illegal settlements on these territories to ensure that the two state solution will never be realised? Isn't it true that that UN votes every year on the resolution of the conflict by means of two state solution described above and the vote is overwhelmingly in favour of the notion, usually something like 157:5 states in favour, the only states not voting in favour are Israel, the US, sometimes Australia and some small atols in the Pacific? Isn't it true that Israel regularly kills Palestinians by their thousands and incarcerates them without trial?

    some basic facts for you: 1. Judaism is a religion, not a race. Mass conversion to Christianity replaced Judaism as the main religion in the Holy Land in the 5th Century, 500 years before Islam became the main religion. 2. Genetic evidence shows continuity between ancient Israeli/Jewish/Canaanite populations and those who refer to themselves as "Arab" today in Lebanon/Palestine/Syria. Arab just means Arabic speaking. It's not a race... 3. The Arabic script originates with the Nabataens, an Arabic speaking kingdom concentrated in the Negev desert. 4. Hebrew was already a dead language at the time of Jesus. It existed only as a liturgical/clerical language, similar to Latin or Church-Slavonic today. Modern Hebrew was invented just over a century ago by speakers of European languages. Ancient Hebrew and Modern Hebrew are not mutually intelligible since Modern Hebrew is heavily influenced by German and Slavonic gramma and Arabic slang. Modern Hebrew is the only reconstructed language in the world currently recognized as a national language. 5. Since the 5th CE Christianity became the main religion, followed by Islam in the 9th CE. This remained the case for more than 1,000 years. The Ottoman census of 1914 found that Jews made up ~5% of the population, half of which were immigrants from Europe. A 1931 census conducted by the British colonial administration found that 17% of the population was Jewish, again noting that the majority were foreign born. When the Jewish state was declared by European powers in 1948, only half of the population of the "Jewish state" was Jewish. 6. Israelis want Westerners to believe that the conflict is religious, claiming there is a "clash of civilizations" between Islam and the West. This is false. The conflict is not rooted in ideology, but in very real material grievances shared by people subjected to forced displacement and colonization. That they happen to be Muslim (and many are also Christian) is not relevant. In reality, Jews are being cynically used by global financial powers to colonize a strategic geopolitical region, and without gratuitous Western military support they would cease to exist. 8. Israel has neither declared borders nor a constitution, they also reject equality under the law because their state would no longer be Jewish. Arabs reject Zionist ideology because it is the Jewish equivalent of ISIS - a religio-supremacist state without equality under the law for all religious/ethnicities. 9. The solution demanded by the Arab world is simple: non-Jewish refugees must be allowed to return to their homes and lands, equality under the law for all ethnicities and religions, and a referendum of all concerned peoples to determine the new government. 10. It's not wise to have strong beliefs about subjects you known very little about.

    Despite his words, this person is complicit with international intelligence and acted as an imaginary enemy created by these services, as Machiavelli advised Prince Through him and others like him, many organizations have been infiltrated and many reports have been prepared about sympathizers or resistance fighters, and he is the one who protects the back of the regime he claims to be fighting. It is very likely that he reported on Assange himself and this meeting #FreeJulianAssange

    Google "Dahiya Doctrine". The official Israeli strategy to restrain Hezbollah is to deliberately destroy civilian targets. If you cannot trust Nasrallah on this matter, who Israeli's trust more than their own government, you may at least trust Norman Finkelstein, Gabor Matte, Ilan Pappé, Lenni Brenner, or Edwin Black. All are holocaust survivors or the descendants thereof who have written extensively about the history of Zionism and terrorism.

    Julian Assange you are a hero, but on this show you should be shame in yourself. Giving Hezbolla place to rubbish the world with their lies - you should know better! dont you know that they lie endlessly? that deceiving is a must for them by Qoran? You should have brought Brigitte Gabriel to confrant him. Maybe then this show would have some value.
