I'm Roman Catholic and also regard the professor as one of the best historians on KZread. We are of Irish ancestry but there is a family fable of a Spanish jewess, Rebecca, in the family line. We have a very old black and white of great uncle Joshua wearing the skull cap. There is a Jewish cemetery in Dublin so a few Sephardi may have settled there.

Thank you for uploading the video and taking the time to expand and explain this very important period of Jewish history..I missed most of the live webcast a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised to see it uploaded so I could continue watching it! Have watched quite a few of your other videos, so much information to those that want to understand more of Jewish history and struggle for survival and it's unproportionate impact, often but not always, with tragic consequences.

Another Christian here who loves Professor Abramson. I think every Westerner & Christian should be more knowledgeable about Jewish history. Honestly, since Judaism in the foundation upon which all human rights & any logical, fair judicial system are based, I think everyone should have at least a basic knowledge of Jewish ethics & history. I don’t think Judaism & Christianity get enough credit for the positive changes they brought to the pagan world, especially Judaism.

It is also used to describe the Sabbath immediately preceding the Jewish fast day of Tisha B'Av, as it is a day of mourning.

Hi. I listened to this lecture with rapt attention. An hour and a half flew by. I then listened to your lecture entitled 'Where do the words "Jew" and "Israel" come from?'. So, Im back here for a second listen with an ear that hears 'Jehudim' when Jew or Jewish is spoken and therefore a new perspective. Thank you.

Is it true that in 1483 King Ferdinand appointed Tomás de Torquemada as inquistor-general ending the papacy’s role in the Spanish Inquisition? I listen to your teachings. I find them enjoyable and very informative. I am Catholic and believe it is important to understand history from both Christian and Jewish perspectives. I want to thank you for making your teachings available they have been instrumental in understanding my faith and world politics. ❤

Growing up in Texas, I heard hillbilly Texans say: "You cain't hep it." In other words, their pronunciation of the word "help" was "hep". "Pillow" was pronounced, and probably still is, "pillar". My explanation for antisemitism is simply tension over the doctrine of majority rule. Gentiles cannot stand that such a tiny group are so successful and so influential out of proportion to their numbers. Thomas Sowell says basically the same thing.

The story about Rabbi Yochanan ben Zackai is fictional. The story depicts Rabbi Yochanen sneaking out of Jerusalem during the siege to meet Vespasian. The issue is Vespasian was not present at the siege, Titus was. The siege began in April or March of 70CE, Vespasian was already Emperor for a whole year. Additionally you left out that the story is a near copy of the story Josephus claimed happened to him.

Im very tolerant of jew jokes and mean th ings said to me the reason being i can counter every one of them logically and stay calm . I had a friend that was one of those people that would ask to see your horns or say your jew nose is really big did you make a lot of money today . One day he came down the stairs and the first thing he says loud you dirty jew .. i think i had enough at the point and had to adjust him in my own house .
