You need to be mindful of the content you release. It's a reason why most musicians only give out scale exercises to keep from giving out to much free content to unappreciative musicians, who will never mention you or your teachings as their source for growth. Keep the lessons simple and beginner level. It also keeps other teachers in business. This is entirely to many gems to be giving away for free. Trust me, I am not against you and it's no need to be offended. Yiu are very sweet, honest and respectful. Charge people for lessons like these. You deserve to be paid for the many hours you practiced and the "tricks" discovered while doing so. That knowledge is for you, and if a musician is serious they'll pay you with no complaints. Also you have purchased thousands of dollars on equipment, fuel for your car to gigs etc. get your money. This is your profession. Pressure washers don't wash houses for free. Lawyers don't take cases for free. Doctors don't perform surgery for free. You shouldn't give out your advanced stuff. . The women pianist are so humble, you don't realize how wicked and unappreciative and arrogant musicians can get when they haven't earned their music knowledge.

Hello Thembi, this is a very good encapsulation of what really is important here. bravo. The little offramps - such as bebop scales, chord tones scales are like little "click to see mores" . Firming up the knowledge while always keeping the big picture in mind (your 3 points). Practice is practice and playing is playing. but sometimes you can do a little of both!

Very nice - thank you - gotta love sharp 11, diminished maj7 chords, and super locrian! You may be optimistic about having 3 hrs to practice ... I love how you sing with yourself - that's an important basic so many don't get told.

Is there a rule to the fingerings or it doesn't matter which fingers one uses??
Hey. Is there a description for what is contained inside your “I wish I learned this at Jazz school” booklet? I’m not a complete beginner so trying to decide if it’s useful for me. Love you videos
@thembelihledunjana
13 күн бұрын
Hi Alex. Thank you. The main purpose of the booklet is to help the learner understand where chords come from. So practicing scales as chords (in all 12 keys). Thereafter we do 3-note voicings over tune “Misty”, then choosing the right tensions for the tune. Lastly I speak about the importance of shell voicings as a fundamental for jazz players. This is covered over 3 modules and includes a video for more clarification.

Thank you. The thing is I am not sure of what material to use if i´m a beginner in the jazz techniques. I would like to get like an all-in-one book or something, just to get started in jazz, what would you recommend?

The Mark Levine jazz piano book is a good place to start, I used it a lot to teach as well… Alternatively I do also have a booklet for beginners that you can check out in the description.
Ok I think I like you 🎉🎉
Please, what mic do you use?
I'm a beginner and I really love jazz music. But where do I start from?

Can u breakdown how you're doing those diatonic major arpeggios? I tried to slow down the playback speed, but it didn't help.
@thembelihledunjana

I’m playing each chord within the major scale as an arpeggio up to the 7th, in an up and down motion. Does that make sense,
@DJlamoun

@thembelihledunjana Yes, that makes sense. We're you using the f scale on those diatonic arpeggios? Or was it Bb?
