The Jam guitar tone... How I do it.

Ойын-сауық

I've had so many requests for this information over the years I thought I would finally just make a video showing you how I go about approximating The Jam's fabulous tone...

Being a big Jam fan and owner of the Boss ME 50 (still using this unit for most of my sounds).. this video was inspiring and informative... would appreciate other ME 50 videos if possible!🙂

It's the only effects pedal I use... ;-) One day I'll expand, but for now, it works. Glad to hear I'm not alone.

“Artistic Freedom” at its finest! Your time, effort, and generosity is tops. And, your patient pace and articulation is commendable. I’m confident I am not the only viewer who ‘appreciates’ your ongoing posts. “Keep playing The Jam”, INDEED! Cheers mate.

Your video is so informative for Rickenbacker players. Yes, BD is the best pedal of BOSS for Rickenbacker crunch sound cos others are too much gain.

You've got some great gear. I don't have anything that great, but I did pick up the UA Ruby, which is a pedal that simulates the AC30. It made a HUGE difference to my sound, as well as my enjoyment of my limited gear (I play a cheap Chinese Telecaster). ☮

Doesn't matter so much what you play, but how you go about it, right? Thanks for your kind words.

Another great video! This was a treat! My only question is are these the same settings & setup for when recording your smiths videos? Thanks again, cheers brother you rock!

Smiths videos are different--less Overdrive (depending upon the song) and more chorus/reverb, often.

It's interesting to see your amps. The Vox AC 30 wasn't a surprise but the Fender Bassman I wouldn't have guessed. Whatever gets you the sound is the main thing though. Weller didn't seem too slavish about amps, as I recall. I've seen him using Marshalls, Peaveys and Voxes. I wouldn't be surprised to see him use most amps if they gave him the sound he was after, quite frankly. Cheers!

I agree with you about Weller and amps. Yes, even Peaveys... I have two such Peaveys (Backstage Plus) from the late 70's on hand here, both covered with printed dish towels--Union Jack and a 50 pound note. Whatever gets the job done, but yes--cool amps are just that.

No, that's a Mastery Bridge for Rickenbacker. An expensive but wonderful piece of hardware that really improves the tone and sustain on the instrument.

@@modfather1965 Thanks. I've heard a bit about Mastery hardwear from the surf people I'm following. Didn't know that it's available for this manufacturer's instruments.
