When I was 20 in 1978 I became a friend of a then 94y/o man who had dated Audrey for a couple months sometime in the mid 1900's. Mr.---- told me Audrey was a "wonderful girl with stars in her eyes, pulled away from me by the thrills of, she said: 'I want to feel special, loved by millions, I feel so empty". He said Audrey went on to say (and this wasn't quoted from a lyric of a musical): "I just want to be me", & Audrey continued to say, according to my friend: "Sorry, I can't breath, I can't live fully unless I make it". Mr. ---- said she walked away with her head down and he never heard from her again. Mr. ---- said she was his "greatest love" and had heard she'd been in a "mental hospital since around '21 or '23. RIP Mr.----, who died in 1981.

She has come all the way to Kansas City as a pair of beautiful statues of Day and Night that belonged to the former Penn Station.
