An Argentian here! I'm not of black descent, but I love this video and how this man goes to places that no one goes to when they come here! One thing to mention! That's Buenos Aires, people there are different than those who live in the other "states" of the country, I'm from Santa Fe, a little city in Santa Fe, and I feel like racism here is less, because here we have more people that have Latin American Natives descent. And it's a lot more accepted, we don't even think about this, and yeah, sometimes you have one or another case, but it's a lot weirder than in Buenos Aires. Excellent video by the way! I love it!

When Argentina was separating from Spain they FORCED every single African/African-descendant(women and children included) to fight as frontline soldiers to be cannon-fodder, Argentina wanted to reduce their black population and make it more euro, they also knew Spain was too poor/weak to resist a rebellion so they fought for their independence for a few years and once they got it, they imposed strict immigration laws on people coming from Africa and increased immigration from europe, and all this led to the black population decreasing from 35% down to less then 5%, Truly heartbreaking genocide our people go through all around the world, and its not taught to us, its all hidden so it is forgotten. Ps: María Remedios was an African slave women forced to fight in the war of independence for Argentina, She fought for all 4 years of the war, lost her husband her son, led many men into battle and won, she lost everything for a country that didnt want her, and when the war was over, she was given nothing and died in poverty, youll never see her in a history book,Argentina just gave her a national day a few years ago, and i think everyone should know her and what she did.

It was the policy of whitening society, many Latin American countries fostered it in the previous two centuries with greater or lesser success, promoting the immigration of Europeans, with the premise that they were the only ones capable of creating civilization in the territories to be populated. and whitewash the local population as much as possible. The United States, Australia, for example, had similar policies, in promoting the immigration of Europeans, with a somewhat similar approach.

As an African person dating a Mexican woman, I can say that this is not just an Argentinian problem. It's a Latin American problem. White aspiration is a part of Latin American culture. You needn't look too hard to see that. Just take a look at their film and marketing industries. Even in Brazil, which boasts one of the largest black populations, people aspire for whiteness.

From my observation, most Latinos embrace African cultural influences but hate blackness. Whilst English-speaking diasporas like USA and Jamaicans identify more with their blackness than Africanity, or rather identify with Ancient Egypt or Ethiopia than Yoruba or Mandinka. Whilst in Africa, the more privileged and educated classes look down on Africanity and strive towards Westernisation. Most Africans don't even think about race, or realise that we are viewed as 'nxggers' by those we strive to emulate whether Arabs or Europeans. There needs to be a huge cultural and psychological revolution amongst all Afro populations.

The way they were treated is shameful you act like they have not been treated wrong or perhaps you were not paying attention because you're so concentrated on leaving this comment. Obviously they are Argentine but sometimes they are perceived like they are not because of their skin tone what part of that did you not understand. Also if you didn't notice they were mentioning they were getting treated differently because of the way they looked. It's cool that you know your heritage. These people Ancestors in this video have been living in Argentina longer than your Is great grandparents. And have preserved their African Heritage The same way you know your parents have some Italian linean. A problem is some people like to act like they don't have any African heritage. And the truth is many don't even know And the reason why is because of the same reason the lady in the beginning of the video great grandma told her father To marry white people. I find it for the any time we talk about black history it needs to be a victim history the truth is black history is full of victimism. When you are being treated differently because of your skin told does not make you a victim? When you are not allowed to live in a house because your skin tone does that now make you a victim? When you are not allowed to practice your own religion because of your family lineage does that not make you a victim? When people assume things of you negatively because of the way society has used the word black and have portrayed it in the country does that not make you a victim? You are speaking from a privileged point man that you will never understand but how about I give you a chance live one day as a black man. Figure out how to do that and tell me what was the end result some have made that challenge happened and learned so much.

France colonized countries from all over the world but never wiped out a race. They gave some of them independence and some of them are still colonies. I hate colonialism but they are still allowed to go to France and live a normal life . They might be descriminated as refugees but they won’t be racially discriminated at least not on a high level next to total erasure. The way the described the destruction of the the African identity hit so close to home. In fortunate to live in a mostly black country, so I don't have to deal with racism in my everyday life. I, however, observe it online everyday and I just want to tell every African ( all brown-skinned people... Cause we are not black like THEY strategically named us) all over the world that you are loved, you're important, you're the heart and soul of the world. You bring love and excitement and energy to this world. Creativity in thought, action, whether in science, architecture, dance, music, athletics whatever it is. Your contributions are seen and those that have not yet been accredited will continue to be unveiled with time. Honor the sacrifices that your family before you has made. @@light279 doesnt seem like it, all the people i know loook down upon americans and send me photos with the popular "NO dogs-No mexicans-No nwords" or the "we serve white only no spanish or negroes allowed" restaurant signs. but the truth is, southamericans also have some xenophobia and racism (it doesnt even compare to the US, od course) but it is still there. We have to learn that despite our cultural differences, indogenous roots or not, we are all brothers and sisters that share the same hispanic culture and past, and we have to learn to appreciate more.

Racism is still very much visible here today...the current Conservative government has a policy for asylum seekers that says people coming from Ukraine can come here & are welcomed they even went as far as to tell people to let Ukraine asylum seekers come & stay in YOUR house but asylum seekers from Rwanda will be deported. There is an Indian politician who publicly said "it was her dream to see a front page of a newspaper with flights deporting people to Rwanda" So basically they said white Ukrainian is welcome but Black Rwandan are not. This happened because since the World Cup, they have been bombarding TV with aggressive comments towards Argentina, labeling it as 'the most racist' when we haven't even come close to what happened in first-world countries. And all because 'there are no black players in the Argentine team'... black players have played, even in the 1930 team there was a black player. I also don't see Jews or Muslims in the national teams of other countries, and I don't see the rest of the world calling them anti-Semitic or discriminatory... even when we are discriminated against as 'Latinos' in those countries or called 'sudacas' in Europe... it seems that discrimination holds hypocrisy depending on who is being discriminated against.

We might have been spread all over the world, for different reasons, but we are one, forever united in spirit and no one could take that away from us. They talked a lot about being invisible but the African spirit never dies. It can be seen in the dances, music, even certain foods all over the Americas, Argentina included… as well as our genes. Some will deny it but DNA does not lie. Once again, thank you.

I add a few more things, it is a topic that gives a lot. During the independence struggles, one of our heroes, Manuel Belgrano, named one of his battle companions, a black woman, Remedios del Valle, as captain. Does this happen in a racist country? At that time she began to be recognized, and still is, as “Mother of the Nation”. What other non-African country recognizes a black woman as “Mother of the Nation”? The highest denomination banknote at the time of this writing (May 2024) features the image of General Belgrano next to Captain María del Valle. Sergeant Cabral, recognized for having saved in battle the life of our greatest liberator, General San Martin, was a mulatto. The country is full of tributes to his memory. There is a hymn to his memory that has always been recited in schools (I am more than 60 years old). “Cabral, heroic soldier, covering himself with glory”. Of what invisibility do they speak. My country, Argentina, and we Argentines, have many problems and defects, but we do not have the horror of racism. Our problems are inflation, poverty, lack of economic growth, corruption, ineptitude of our politicians. Our conversations and news are about that, but not about racism, because it is not, thank heaven, a problem that we have had or have. Argentina receives many immigrants from all over the world, especially from Latin America, and these immigrants who choose our country are the first ones who will say that in Argentina there is no discrimination based on skin color or religion. I am guided by the norms dictated throughout Argentine history, by witnesses of those times and by concrete facts. This does not mean that there may not have been slave attitudes in its inhabitants, I have not been aware of their existence, but they may have existed. But to qualify my country as a slave-owning or discriminatory country, I believe that its laws and history and its current coexistence show that these qualifications are far from the truth.

The ones who aren't afro argentinian look so uncomfortable, almost like they know their friends and family are being treated unfairly but it's almost like survivor's guilt, they don't know how to cope or handle it. Sometimes you just have to support your people and listen, when people hear the word racist they think they're being called haters, but in reality it's not about hating it's about having the mindset that someone of a different hue as you is viewed less than on a prejudism and classism level
