Umajunkcollector, The correct meaning of CED is CAPACITANCE ELECTRONIC DISC, not CAPACITIVE ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. Because it is the trademark of RCA, known as SelectaVision.

+Andy Pandy cool. I bought about 50 disks at a garage sale for a few dollars about 4 yrs. ago. Just yesterday a guy on CL was giving this first selectavision away. I got it with a new stylus and a stylus in the unit plus about 10 more disks! FREE! Sometimes waiting does pay off. :0 It works to. I think a little cleaning and it will be perfect. Finally get to watch all these disks on my 48" lcd. Do you have any tips on what to watch out for with these units?

I do. My grandpa had one with Star Wars and we thought it was awesome.

If you push forward and reverse visual search you can cause it to pause still frame.

+Cesar Schrega HandyCams weren't invented in 1981, they came about around 1983-4. This was shot on a portable Betamax with a separate video camera.

That host is too hip and ahead of his time. I can't tell if he's making fun of the format or not. I wonder if he hooked up with the display model after the show.

Hindi lang RCA ang mayroong CED Player, kundi meron ding Samsung, Sony, JVC, NEC, Sharp, Pioneer, Sanyo, Victor, etc.

NOTE: This video is from August 1988, not 1981. Alam ko na mayroon pang CED noong 1988 until ngayon, onting uso nalang kc blu ray na ang uso ngayon pati na rin VHS at Betamax.

CED Players were only manufactured from 1981 - 1984. The first model they are talking about was the first ever CED player, Model SFT 100 W
