@@elyseenger-fq8ye Different opinions are good as not everyone favors the same style of art. I believe a portrait should capture a likeness that brings out the subject's soul. No matter what style of art, without that, I believe, the painting misses, as good as the artwork may be. Seeing something in a painting isn't the same as feeling something from a painting.

@@Maywynyou don’t know anything about art, she is not skilled, because she doesn’t work from life, I am painter and of course I know how to draw and it’s a whole new world too paint or Dra from life than form picture, to Dra from picture it’s to easy, the second portrait of the two persons you can se proportions errors

I am spoiled at judges choice. The one painting looked as if strokes were big mistakes like the one which almost went into corner of eye. Oh well though what do I know?

So disappointed that the young redhead girl didn't win. I loved her work!

She’s incredibly talented. I’m so pleased for her that two of the sitters chose her paintings, that is a big achievement for anyone let alone a 17 year old without the years of painting experience behind her that the others have.

All three are incredible, no question. But I give the win to Hetty.

I liked Hetty from the moment I saw her self portrait. I think she has a unique eye that captures the sitters inner self. I can almost see the soul shining brighter than the outer shell. It makes me want to talk to/know the sitter.

Danny was heads above his competition. His commission was incredible. His use of red on the mans overalls perfect. The green tools in the background outstanding. Samira did an excellent job on her commission, though her final portrait was not the best.

IDK, I felt Danny lacked creativity. He put loads of details into his painting, but more details doesn't mean in my opinion a better painting. I would salute his work but not particularly remember it. I much prefer the ethereal poetry captured by Hetty's portraits.

3 very strong artists. Excellent portraits. I guess it really comes down to personal preference. I fell in love with Hetty's work, but that's the style I have always grooved to. She totally captured the emotion of David. And what she did with Emily is truly astounding. I truly hope she is still growing as an artist and I would gladly buy anything this young lady creates!!!

What? That was the 3rd best one... Not first!! I disagree with the judges! The other 2 were WAY BETTER than her's! I threw my remote to the ground and was stunned! This is crazy. I mean, her's was ok but not better than the other 2! WOW .... Crazy

She's the most original, that's why she won. The three artists are amazing and the 17 year old .....wow ..to be so young and talented, bright future ahead of her

I agree with the majority that Hetti had the best final portrait. Most amazingly at 17! What a future la ahead of her. However with the inclusion of the commissioned work being a factor in the ultimate winner, I am obliged to divert from the judge’s choice and would have given it to the professional gentleman. Kudos to all of the entrants from the beginning.

Yeah I liked Hetti the best but I would've been ok with the guy winning too, as I did really like his commission. The only one I really didn't like was the one they chose as the winner. 🤦‍♀️

I agree with you. The commission with all of the tools and inventions, I just think his composition was the best. And he really captured the personality of his sitter. I thought he won the commission. She won the day, but I have to say I did think Samaras commission was amazing. I actually think hers was better than Hetti’s. But overall I thought Hetti was the best. She made Emily look like a majestic queen, which she is. 😁

I liked Danny's painting more. But I thought Hetty captured more than Emily's image, amazing. I thought the judges were going to pick Hetty; I would have gone for Danny. I don't care about growth; I care about the end results. All three's commissions were incredible.

The guy was the best painter, followed by the redhair girl.

Being in the finals is already a win and great testament to the inspirational talent that each possesses. All are beautiful and stunning pieces.

I am glad to see so many of the artists use a grid. I almost always use a grid - I get a good drawing as a result, and a good drawing is the starting point to a good painting.

I just don't see the point; Samira is fantastic but honestly i have seen tons of similar modern portraits. they are literally in every gallery: combination of large brush strokes, complementary color scheme - a high chroma color vs desaturated complement. It's a recipe.

@@Robocop-qe7le as cliche as it may sound, art is in the eye of the beholder, but these judges are looking for more than mere representation or hyper-realism in the portraits which is not a bad thing because they are pushing the boundaries and questioning what makes a good portrait

Wow the comission works were great. Samari made Sandra look younger than she is, which didn'twork for me. Hetti definitely needs to try again. Her art is awesome. So was yours sir.

Sampras Zander was good but not the best one in my mind ,The man in the workshop was fabulous ,The Irish girls work is fantastic ,The winner the wrong choice for me ,I notice the judges go for more splodgey style paintings rather than realism ,

Bravo Hetty long career ahead of you. My pick was the read hair artist and the gentleman equally for the first position.

in another competition every one of them are worthy to win!° For me they are all three stunning portraits and impressive Artists. To pull that of as a 17 year old young woman...that is just crazy Talent! Very Strong episode!

I like starting with eyes, too. It gives life and directs the rest of my painting. Emily is so majestic and the energy she projects is so beautiful.

Hetty has a very bright future ahead as a painter. And Danny is soooo good if he has more time. Jamira won because of her excentrix portrait of zandra Rhodes , and it is excellent. But her portrait of Emile Sande is not convincing. Hetty should have won

I can see why Danny is a professional, he is very talented. My opinion Hetty did the best portrait.

The young girl was probably the best artist there on that day. Her portrain was just amazing. She should have won. I'm betting they didn't give it to her because she was (a) young and (b) the painting was "too normal" and not quirky enough. That's what annoys me about this competition. The portrait of Kim Cattral by the winning artist was greatly disappointing and if you did not know it was meant to be her, you would never have guessed.

Other people may disagree, but I saw the truth and understood that Hetty was not good commissioning material. She need more years of development in order to become worthy of these contracts.

They were all so different but awesome. However, Danny's commission painting was really (in my opinion), on the next level.

I wouldn’t want a painting that didn’t even look like me. I highly disagree with this choice. How are these people judges ? Let talk about how we can try and confuse people !

I didn’t like it at first. But it’s grown on me the more I’ve seen it. I do like the moodiness of it. I actually think who the winning portrait was going to be of played a role in who won on the day. I don’t think the two people who lost would’ve had the same rapport that she had with Kim.

Absolutely should have gone to Danny.

I have to stop myself from screaming whenever Mr Schierenberg inevitably comes out with a negative comment to outweigh any praise.

I’m watching this because I have recently started drawing with pencils. I’m very interested in art in general I guess I would say. I was very much let down at the end of this and I’m starting to wonder if my idea of art is what others see. There’s just no way I would have made the decision they made. It just simply does not make sense to me. Amazing artwork I agree. But I believe the winner was split between two absolutely who both captured such great portraits. Really let down on the decision.

Hettie really made Emily look pretty. The guy made her look too masculine and the purple face was a bit wierd.

I'm so thrilled for the winner! I hoped she'd win. She takes risks, which is so important. There is evolution here! Brilliant!

How mutch taste can differ. I would have plaed the winner thid, the guy second and the Hetty first. I think hers really poped while still be true to the likeness. Samiras was a little to generic to be a portrait. My taste of course.

I totally agree with you. I thought the winner’s commission portrait was hideous. It seemed an extremely unflattering portrait of the sitter. I would never guessed in a million years that they’d choose her. If I were Kim Catrill I’d be scared to have that artist do my portrait. I guess I’m more of a realist.
