What do people heat their homes with? With low temperarures lik Norilsk has, it must be expensive to heat.

Vladimir- 100 usd is very inexpensive considering how cold Norilsk gets. In northern USA, people pay 200-500 usd heating per month, depending on what type of heat they use. Natural gas is cheapest, then electric. Heating oil is most expensive. Keep in mind, northern USA is not nearly as cold as Norilsk! What kind of heat do you have? Is it government subsidized? Indeed but Norilsk is kinda special in some ways...in summer or autumn is ugly but in the winter is magical. If you have a job that you love it and family or friends with you than is ok to life there. You have everything there beside parks..

Many are leaving. There is a special resettlement program for them. It is an industrial city. They work here, but they go to warmer climes to grow old.

If your wife wants to stay in Norilsk -save yourself and your child! That young lady doesnt know how it is to live in the open, in the sun, among people. She doesnt know what life is. I am really sorry for you. Why do you have to stay in Russia at all? Why dont you come back to Romania? Living in Norilsk is a Masochism. If your wife wants to stay in Norilsk -save yourself and your child! That young lady doesnt know how it is to live in the open, in the sun, among people. She doesnt know what life is. However, Ulyanovsk is better, but why again such an industrial place and again not in Europe?

Not sure about S America but ..Well these countries are poor but definitely not depressing.. you can have great talks with people(even strangers) in here.
