The Inside of a Windmill
This is De Kat (The Cat), a dye mill at Zaanse Schans, in Holland. The first windmills in the area were built around 1600. There were up to 1000 windmills in the area at one time but only 12 or 13 have survived. De Kat windmill is a combination of two old windmills - the machinery of an old dye mill called De Duinjager and the base of an oil mill called De Kat. Production recommenced about 10 years ago so it is probably the last wind-powered dye mill in the world. There is a Windmill Museum where you can find out more about the operation and history of them www.zaanschemolen.nl

A rare treat to see the inside of a working windmill in Holland. #windmill #holland
Thanks for making this
Would've been interesting to see the inside of a Dutch Windmill many centuries before-when they were used for their original purpose of pumping water out of the ground, to form the many polders that comprise the present-day Netherlands.
There are working of gears inside helps to rotate vanes.
The sail size needs adjusting when wins changes. Looks as if stoping mill only option
A machine without the energy part lol
Too many extreme close-up views keeps it from being educational.
