    What I found funny is that Shaggy may not looks like it, but one of the oldest facts about him consistent in most adaptations is that he and his family is super wealthy. Even Daphne is poor in comparaison to him. So him getting huge mansion in inheritance from his uncle just like that is not even ooc for him.

I live in the middle of no where in the tundra of Canada and a small town about 45 min away has a authentic Mexican restaurant that has the most authentic Mexican food I've ever seen ( It's very different from American Mexican food ) they even have family still in Mexico to send them ingredients like spice and herbs and popular Mexican beverages (like spicy mango soda pop) among other things. I was shocked when I heard them all speaking Low German and half the restaurant was like a museum of German family artifacts, so I had to ask. That's when they told me how their family ended up in Mexico and then later Canada.

That meant I didn't miss the absence of Fred, Velma and Daphne and could just focus on the show by itself.

I’ve seen almost every series/format except be cool and velma 🤢🤮 and those are the only two really bad ones. The LA movies were also pretty cringey, but that’s more because of the time period

    Actually the earliest hint that dr Trebla is actually uncle Albert is in the pilot episode. Where Shaggy gives Phibes the scooby snack recipe acting as if it's the formula without knowing it actually is, and he gives it to Trebla for analysis and then he comes saying it was a sausage recipe. That was obviously because as Albert he realized what they did and covered it up. Yet I didn't catch that until after he was revealed.

    This show reminds me heavily of The Venture Brothers. Which is fitting given that the premise for The Venture Brothers revolves around the idea of "What if classic cartoons existed in a self contained world (most specifically Johnny Quest, Scooby Doo, Super friends, GI Joe, lots of DC comics). It wouldn't surprise me to learn that some of the initial formula was loosely pulled from the show. If you haven't watched The Venture Brothers, I recommend it. You will enjoy it.

    Dude, you just unlocked a closed memory of this show that I had. I remember watching this very clearly as a kid, the not common, kinda faded, kinda greenish but not grey color palette, interesting artstyle and especially the villan and the agent designs are what I remember the most. I really want to rewatch this now myself, I think as a kid I didn't really mind this show being so different, because as weird as this sounds I didn't like the very old scooby doo formula back then all that much, or maybe I just liked it but not in the amount it was used back in the day. I wish people would be more open for intersting ideas like this, but I feel like today it would get more attention than back in the day, it feels like it has a syndrome of Disneys Treasure Planet and Atlantis - movies that were not liked and watched by it's release but now are considered one of the more interesting and liked movies made by this company.

    I'd love to see a direct-to-DVD movie acting as a sequel ending to this series like The Thirteenth Ghost was. I mean both series were ones considered the worst in the whole franchise. Uncle Albert might be a problem to cast since Casey Kasem's gone now. Perhaps another older Shaggy actor can play him here. In any case, I'd just love to see Dr. Phibes and the agents one last time, and see what they can do with the premise of the Scooby Snax with a (presumably) larger animation budget.

  • @wootmasterzorsx
    @wootmasterzorsx2 жыл бұрын

    I remember watching the show as a kid and digging it because I’ve always been a big fan of Scooby-Doo. Scooby and Shaggy are my all time favorite cartoon characters, even, so a show all about them was a dream come true for kid me. And looking back on it, as I did watch it a while back to actually see the ending since I remember it just either like, stopped airing or I didn’t know the new time slot, but I never saw the ending… never even KNEW it had one, truth be told, and I do think it holds up. I do think some of the more childish humor doesn’t fully land for me as an adult, but this video reminded me there was a lot of great moments. I genuinely got some real good laughs from some of the clips you used. And while I personally like the art style for Be Cool better (not sure why, maybe it’s just the color palette, but I genuinely always felt people over exaggerated on the character design for that series) I think some of the character design is pretty solid and it is expressive and fun. Jeff Bennett is always a delight, Frank Welker was great as Scooby, and Scott Menville does a decent job as Shaggy, even if I think he’s one of the weaker takes on the character, only outpacing, sadly enough, Billy West in Zombie Island. Side note, reflecting on it, West’s Shaggy was borderline the same as Fry doing a Shaggy impression, which came full circle when they parodied Scooby Doo with Bendee Boo. But overall, I don’t think the series deserves the reputation it gets either the same way I don’t think Scrappy deserves his legacy, as the show had a fun premise and kept Shaggy and Scooby true to themselves as characters. As a kid, I’d always imagine Shaggy and Scooby planted into other series, having to hang out with and help characters in any cartoon I would watch, since to me, Shaggy and Scooby have two important characteristics- loyalty and cowardice. The cowardice is the obvious one, it leads to all their wacky antics and gives them a good story arc to go through of having to face their fears. And the other is loyalty- Shaggy and Scooby are at their best when, despite their fears, they know people they care about need them to step up, so they will, reluctantly or not, and manage to have a cool moment saving the day. It’s why I honestly think no matter what genre the duo would get thrown into, such as a spy series, they would work well in it since it’s not about unmasking a crooked real estate agent, but rather it’s about simply the duo being afraid of anything they have to face, but facing it anyways because their friends need them to. Great video, your content is always a fun watch. You have great narration and the art for your avatar is nice and it’s just interesting to hear your takes on all this. And it was super cool hearing from one of the heads on this weird little Scooby series that’s been under appreciated. The video even gave me a bit stronger appreciation for what the show did well. Also, sorry for being a touch ramble-y, I just really love Scooby-Doo, if it wasn’t apparent.

    I've never watched this show (well, technically I have, but only the first episode due to it being the only free episode of the show on the Boomerang site/app), but even then this already sounds like MY kind of Scooby show. Having grown up with Ben 10, this is almost the _exact_ kind of action-packed and transformation-centered content that would've been RIGHT up my alley! (not to mention as a kid I always imagined crossover/mashup type scenarios, one of which being "what if we gave Scooby the Omnitrix?" and this kind of seems like that but replace the watch with some dog treats, so small wish-fulfillment there.) Too bad I almost never watched or don't have a readily accessible way to watch this show. I did have a side tangent ready about an idea for a third season, but it's a little long and not relevant. Basically, my idea was "give Scooby a snack that gives him a kind of Master Control (think Ben 10 in this regard)" and things sprung from there. I don't know how to end this short paragraph so I'll just put a period here and hope for the best.

    At least when Casey Kasem did both roles you can tell the difference in voices. Scott Menville on the other hand, he didn't do a good job using another voice when it became to doing Shaggy.

    Oh damn, I remember this show fondly and never having missed an all new episode. Maybe it's just me but the humor just about always landed, some of the jokes even got hard laughter out of my childhood self. Thanks for covering it, I see how many would have passed on this show.

    Duude, I remember watching this as a kid. I think we had the first two volumes of DVDs, which means whenever I come back to it there'll be some fun new episodes to watch! I think you might have misunderstood the theme song (and accompanying visuals) though. In my eyes it revels in how bonkers, comedy-focused, and just... different, this show is compared to the rest of Scooby-Doo. Similar to Gotta Go Fast from Sonic X, it wasn't really liked for the lyrical content, but rather, for just being a fun jammin' song that gets you hyped for another episode of the show. If I pump this through the stereo, my family knows what time it is.

    Wow, this really turned my opinion around about the series. I've always seen this show on a lot of "Worst's" lists and kind of left it at that. Now I see it's just... different? But at least has some interesting elements. Kind of reminds me of "Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!" which had a similar problem where people got turned off by the art direction, missing out on a fun series. Glad I ended up watching this. Been really feeding my "Scooby-Doo" addiction recently

    I remember this one! I'm actually helping write a Scooby Doo story that retells the live action film, but with changes to it. Such as Scrappy actually being a member of the team who helps save the day, and the villain being Phibes, who has been capturing the kids on the island with the monsters he's created in order to have them build a machine that'll resurrect the monster he used the DNA of to create the monsters, in hopes that the monster will make him.... IMMORTAL!

    When I was watching it originally, as a kid, it felt to me like a Scooby-Doo show that's NOT boring. (A blashpemous thing to say, I know.) Like... each episode wasn't a mystery, but an adventure, does that make sense? Like, what would Scooby Doo be if it was originally made in like, 2007. I didn't care for spooky things happening and then the gang working it out, but Scooby and Shaggy just doing stuff? I'm down for that. The art style is pretty cool, too. Honestly, I think about this specific series every now and then, and I can't remember a single thing I disliked about it.
