The INSANE Funk Picking Technique Of Cody Wright
Музыка
This week, Ellen O Reilly sits down to talk bass with the amazing Cody Wright.
Cody is an incredible player with virtuoso chops and a great funk groove all made possible with his great picking technique.
Cody made a name for himself with the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra and you might have also seen him work alongside guitar sensation Eric Gales.
As well as his super sideman work Cody has also become an internet sensation with his great looping improvisations and computer game covers. From blues to funk and beyond Cody is super entertaining and groovy as hell.

Thanks so much for the feedback guys, there will be plenty more interviews coming up with some amazing players. :) x
Great to know another player I can listen to for pick bass
What a nice, humble young man. Thanks Mark, turned me on to some new music....digging the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra !
That is one hell of a bunch of different accents here now haha!
Saw both Ellen and Cody at the London bass guitar show in 2019, great players
Cody Wright has been a huge favorite ever since he did the music for ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! Insanely funky!

One of the very few games that I don't just mute the music and pull up a spotify playlist instead.
Hi Ellen! Welcome to talking bass!!!
First heard Cody at a blues fest in PA, playing with Eric Gales, such a tight player with killer fills. Good luck and continued success!
Pretty impressive stuff Mark .Cool kid and nice to see an interviewer let the guess tell their story.
I actually watched this video in order to learn more about Cody as my wife and I were asked by his current band (Chris Cain) to host him at our house for a few days here in Northern California. So, he's been staying with us and will be leaving tomorrow for their next gig. I learned quite a bit about him from watching this and want to give a lot of credit to Ellen O'Reilly for doing such an amazing job at conducting this interview. She knows enough about music and guitars/basses that she can ask the technical questions, but she also spanned a range of questions that included discussion of his parents, upbringing, etc. So many talk show hosts on TV could take lessons from her on how to properly interview someone. She shows an obvious, sincere interest in her guest and gives him room to speak and just be himself. The conversation evolves very organically. I mentioned all of this to Cody and he had high praise for her as well. He did say that this wasn't the first time they'd met, so they already had a bit of a rapport. This video actually saved me from having to ask a lot of the questions that I was going to ask of him, like what kind of musical influences his parents were, etc. Oh, and it's been great having him hang around our house for a few days as he brought both a bass and a Les Paul and we've encouraged him to play as much as he wants during his down time between gigs. Last night we watched other KZread videos of concerts that he's been in while performing with Eric Gales and Gary Hoey. And yeah, he really is a humble person in spite of his amazing career.
Nice one! Would love to hear an interview with Colin Hodgkinson Phenomenal P bass pick player - if he's still alive!
Love plectrum (pick) on bass.
