    How bruce played some of these lines and sung harmonies i dont know...for me it's an up stroke for the B just seems to flow and sound clearer (my hammer ons are particularly weak though)

    Hey Mark, I know you don't typically do death metal songs, but would you be able to give a tutorial on how to play Together As One - Death. The intro I've found incredibly difficult to play fingerstyle as Steve DiGiorgio does and I can't seem to get the groove and sound down for the rest of it.

    A band mate just swapped to me a highway one jazz for a guild B301A that i wasnt a fan of. I am selling the jazz and just sticking with my 1968 telecaster bass. I love a beefy neck.

    Hi Mark , great video , I was wondering if it would be possible to highlight the note you are playing, I tend to get lost due not hearing you say the note or when I look back at my fretboard then back at the TV?

    I'm a huge Mr. Bungle fan. Trevor Dunn is an incredible bass player, he is very eclectic and can play anything, from Jazz to Metal, from John Zorn to Fantômas. Each Guy in Mr. Bungle is so good and talented!

    This was the first drill my old instructor had me do, every lesson for the first 2 months was opening with this and some arpeggio work. Best part of that was the fact that the same shifts apply to almost any key, with few exceptions. Great way to learn your way around.

    Thanks a million Mark. I’ve learned so much from your videos. But, I’m finally taking my bass playing to a serious direction and signing-up for your classes via online modules. Rather than just play music, I want to understand it- I cannot afford lessons to attend a Conservatory, or renown music school, etc; but I’ve decided I can still improve greatly…it’s on me to get done. Hope to transfer what I learn to six string bass so I can do my own music. Peace, my Brother. Stay well.

    Yes! The Rumble 40 is ideal for home practise. Everything set flat, maybe roll the bass off to about 11 o'clock for my bass (Mustang with flats).

    Hi, can explain somebody why Marc says that the there is a V to I resolution (minute 17") if we are going from C to F so I would think this is I to IV rather than V to I. ??

  • @talkingbasslessons
    @talkingbasslessons5 күн бұрын

    C is the fifth degree of F. It’s a V to I resolution to F. Then F becomes V of Bb etc.

    The root on the top is called the octave Hello Malcolm When I was younger I went to music school, and I tore apart my music theory book. I like it when you say that these are B chords, because when I was analyzing the counterparts album back in the 2000s the same thing came up. Whereas the music publishers got it wrong. Feel free to click on my icon and watch some of the videos that I posted, these are all top of the notch professionals in Las Vegas Nevada performing cover songs.

    Pls comment some day on the grief suffered by us mere mortals should we dare try such a bass line in most bands: "Too busy! Too much! Shut up and play the root! What, are you the lead bassist?"

    I have a MIM RW Flea Jazz. It’s as close to a vintage stack knob as I’ll ever get. Yea, the RW look is t everyone’s favorite and this one is a bit manufactured looking. But I got one with a stable neck and great pickups …… Love it .

    As a beginner in the literal meaning of the term, not a beginner from another instrument, not a beginner who has learned the basics, but a true beginner, I find it a huge barrier that every bass teacher for beginners chooses songs that are too hard, or that only have an easy riff, but the rest of the song is impossible for a true beginner. Can we please start with a song which is slow and easy from beginning to end? Beginners need enough time to get their hands and fingers in position, figure out muting, play along in time and pick the stirngs properly. That is a ton to keep track of. A song please, that's slow, easy, just quarter notes, beginning to end. Not just riffs, not just intros, but a recognizable song easy enough that you could put a bass in the hands of someone who has never played an instrument, and can play along. I hope you take this to heart Mark.
