The INSANE Bovet Récital 22 Grand Récital | Luxury Watch Review
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I recently had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of the new Watches of Switzerland boutique in the Wynn Las Vegas. And one of the biggest pleasures (and honors) of the occasion was to get hands-on with the Bovet 1822 Récital 22 Grand Récital, one of the most insanely complicated watches on the planet and a true masterpiece of modern watchmaking. The latter point is underscored by the fact that the Bovet Récital 22 Grand Récital took home the Aiguille d'Or, or top prize, at the 2018 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève, watchmaking's most prestigious awards.
This watch is built around a tellurium. A tellurium is an astronomical model that shows the relative positions and relationships between the sun, moon, and earth. In this case--no pun intended--the sun is represented by a beautiful one-minute flying tourbillon, the earth seen from a point above the North Pole is hand painted, and the moon rotates around the earth once every synodic month, or every 29.53 days. The fact that these types of astronomical movements can be mechanically engineered to run so perfectly is absolutely mind-blowing to me. And the watch, including the full perpetual calendar displayed on the back, is accurate to one day's error in 122 years. Yeah, that's pretty incredible. This watch is limited to 60 pieces.
Now, I'm sure you're interested in the price of the Récital 22 Grand Récital. In 18k red gold, you'll be shelling out $469,800 and for the platinum piece shown in this video (the only platinum piece available in North America), you're out $502,200. Obviously, this is not a watch that the vast majority of us will ever be able to purchase, but if you're a lover of fine watchmaking, like me, it's nice to know that something like this exists in the world.

Whilst I definitely can appreciate and respect the almost unfathomable craftsmanship of this piece, I wouldn't be brave enough to even touch it. Thanks for the presentation.

Ah, you'd be fine. They'd probably give you gloves. As a platinum piece, you can imagine that it has a good deal of heft to it, which is interesting to contrast with the ridiculous intricacy of the movement.

Brian, thanks for this. How cool for you to be able to attend their grand opening AND get your hands on that amazing piece! I was just at the Wynn last fall and walked through the shops very quickly - bummed and had I known that they had a Watches of Switzerland shop, I would have spent major time there!! Once our world is back to "normal" - a visit is in order! You put it perfectly that just to behold such an exquisite and hugely complicated creation like that, regardless of price, is something to marvel at. I will never cease to be amazed at what man can create. :-)
At 400,000, I feel this watch presents so, so, so much more value than the equivalently priced Jacob & Co watches like the astronomica and twin turbo furious. This feels like a true masterpiece of engineering, rather than an excess of design and spectacle.
Wow. That is a thing of beauty

Nice review! Support and feature great watches. By all means i hope you keep it that way so we wont see in the near future a "Vincero suggestion/option" from you. Promote quality. Great video as always!

Many thanks! Oh, if you knew me from the HSS website or Instagram, you'd know that I wouldn't touch stuff like MVMT, Invicta, DW, Vincero, et. al with a 10-foot pole. I have turned down large sums of money from some of those players and while it maybe wasn't the best move for my pocket book in the short term, my integrity and brand image is way more important than that. I've worked with the likes of Vacheron, Lange, JLC. What would my friends at those brands think if they saw me hawking a DW?! No thanks!

@@hespokestyle That was a great response! I 've just starting following you so i didn't know your perspective about that matter. This path is difficult although you 'll gain subscribers that love quality stuff over mass production/ lower quality products and you'll create a nice community with the same passion as yours. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, man! Been at it for six years on the web and IG. I've had the KZread channel for that long as well, but I felt it was time to get serious about it. Honestly, I'm pretty down on Instagram at the moment. It's gotten to the point where anyone who learns how to pose, has a nice camera and/or a photographer who can edit well can be an "influencer". It's so disposable. And people can literally fake it 'til they make it--I know several of them--without having any real knowledge or anything to say at all other than, "look at me!". You can't mask that on KZread--what you see is what you get, unless you're a fantastic actor. The space is coming due for a reckoning and, for me, this is the way to distinguish one's self.
I'd be nervous to pick it up lol.

What's the blue button down shirt u are wearing Brian?

It's an old Brooks Brothers Black Fleece shirt, size BB0. They killed the line about three or four years ago so this exact shirt isn't made anymore, sadly. One of the best OTR OCBDs I've ever worn.
Hold on sir. Did you say 24 hours signifies the Earth's daily trip around the Sun?

Yeah, not something I would personally wear or buy, if I could afford it. But you have to respect, no, BOW DOWN to the horological wizardry.
470000$ You can't afford such things by honest work, without scamming and manipulating people. Simple as this: those who can own this are criminals. Political, financial, drugdealers etc.

If you actually WORK hard you CAN have that kind of money honestly, but I wouldn't expect you to understand that.
Firstly: Show the watch on a wrist. Secondly: show the watch from the side so one can the thickness. What's the matter with you???
