Behind The Spectacular Recital 18 Shooting Star by Bovet 1822

The Recital 18 Shooting Star has an inclined case, engraved half spheres to display the phases of the moon and a second time zone, a cylindrical system to tell what time zone it is, a super precise tourbillon regulator, and a back of the movement entirely manually engraved. This is just to mention a few features among so many. In other words, this timepiece brings as much inventiveness as technique and crafts. Pascal Raffy, Owner and CEO of Bovet, explains that the Recital 18 Shooting Star was made to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the rebirthed Dimier manufacture, which is the facility of Bovet.
The pitch was all about journey and exploration. For this reason, the watch is also easy to set thanks to two secured pushers. More than a new complex watch, the Recital 18 Shooting Star brings an unexpected, fresh and creative new way to look at high-end horology. Thus it reinforces, again, the Bovet catalogue that already has now a unique collection of very rare and strong complex models.

A stunning piece of engineering. This timepiece ouses character and individuality, a genuine investment in time workmanship and monetary value. It is hard for anything modern to even compete on the same level as this for style. Let's face, if the modern watch stops because the battery needs replacing, this beauty, will still work by the shake of a wrist or a turn of the winder. Excellent video. Thank you

I always get excited when I see 'Bovet' in the video title. Their catalog of work is exquisite.

i imagine a museum in the future, say 150 years from now, people will be amazed of this kind of timepieces, perhaps they can't reproduce it so well and why not they could be may be jealous of our time!
Until yesterday I was only very vaguely aware of the name Bovet, but when I searched for World Time watches a Bovet came up and that was it....I NEED at least one Bovet in my collection. Most so-called luxury watches like gold Rolexes, Audemars Piguet etc are mass produced, Bovet offers real hand crafted luxury, occasionally at prices which don't mean selling organs.

It could be done, but I have to ask: why? I know various parts of certain watches rotate that way (sky charts, some tourbillons, some globes), but having the hands rotate backwards would just be confusing.

There's been a few exemples of these kind of watches, but it just for the "artistic" exercice, because as you say it's really confusing. I had one myself when I was teenager (had to do things differently obviously...).

As much as I'm in love with this watch I have to agree with the bullshit factor in his interviews. It detracts from his achievements. It's possible to reach this level of precision and express passion without the vacuous hard sell - eg Mr Forsey is good.
