I'm not opposed to the idea of an international women's day in itself. It is absolutely true that women are oppressed around the world and need recognition and support. But what irks me is how middle class white American women act like they're part of the oppressed groups who need to be propped up on pedestals just for their gender. These women are comedy writers in California, USA and are all members of the majority ethnic group, yet we're supposed to act like they need to be especially praised as if they've overcome some crazy obstacles and made a difference in the world alongside people like Malala Yousafzai? Give me a break. This is the kind of thing that makes so many people view the modern first-world feminist movement as a joke.

Lifestyles and cultural environments are what oppress people. Race has nothing to do with it. Don't play the victim card for being in a minority group, and leave the environment behind that has put you in a tough position in life. There are many women and people of all races (including whites and blacks) who have taken steps to make a better life for themselves, and in America that is extremely possible. We should all be tired of the ideas that racism in the 21st century is what keeps people from exiting poverty and pursuing their dreams; it's up to the individual which is why America is so great! Meanwhile Asian-Americans are the most wealthy race so all of us lazies need to get to work, haha.

I live in Kazakhstan and we celebrate women's day here, but there is no hidden "SJW-ish" context, it is just the day to remind people to appreciate each other and women you love (we have no mother's day so it also serves like one). We also have men's day, which is in 7th of May. I know this might sound stupid to celebrate your gender, but it's almost like celebrating birthdays - something you did nothing to accomplish. also people are more chill here, almost no females complaining about the wage gape, glass ceiling etc ( we have no such things)
