it's not as perfect as the original, but i guess that's what happens when an actual quintet tries playing it. props to the first trumpet for being able to play from beginning to end.

I'm so sad that this can't be distributed, I would've loved to play this with the other seniors for my last year at music festival. Surprisingly enough we have a trumpet player who could actually play the first part.

@@brycesusong6307 A3, but like I said it was my mouthpiece. Or it was probably a problem with my trumpet because I had the hardest time blowing air through it. Whenever I switched trumpets with someone else, I could hit the note fine

If your tuba is in Bb then it should be able to, fourth valve or not. Edit: My bad, I failed to notice the low Eb shortly after Mark F, but that could be taken up the octave and still sound fine.

bruh i’ve only played tuba a year and i can play the real low baseline playing low is easy it’s just some of the partial jumps that get me

Some actually did the screamer version of this but it was a trumpet duo and it was godlike

Yeah. This is one of the hardest quintet pieces I've seen. The time signature changes, the key signature changes, the tempo changes, the rhythms. I haven't played this version, but I want to. It's so challenging but worth it.

So, I'm in ninth grade and I've been playing the first trumpet part for this and working on Maynard stuff and as I'm playing the high notes when I try to jump back down I cant play the notes clean and even sometimes at all. I figure this is normal and will improve over time but is there anything in particular I could do to improve this?

Maybe you're resetting your whole face to change pitch? Remember to try to keep most everything possibly with your lips and jaw sturdy when you're ascending and descending and let the acceleration of air do the work. I'm pretty bad with high notes myself but I always hear to not push your face into the instrument and to try to be steady and relaxed. If you use more changing air than changing lips you should hopefully be able to switch between highs and lows (or just less highs) more fluidly. Hope this helps even though it's kinda just general regurgitated advice!

Bailey Dillinger It's a technique called flutter tonguing. It's like playing and rolling an "R" at the same time.
