I was lucky enough to meet Jann Mardenbrough at my local karting track 2 years ago, he’s such a nice guy, and I was fortunate to meet him. I will always have huge respect for him.

For those that think these are just games, Max Verstappen, the current F1 world champion, is one of the most active simracers in the world. And in his position he could race in whatever category he wanted to, but instead he prefers to do simracing to try different categories. These "games" have gotten that good over the years.

I was invited to the GT Academy Finals at Silverstone in 2014. I wasn't good enough to qualify on the Gran Turismo 6 route, but I had entered an online competition and scored highly enough to be invited to the Silverstone finals. Unfortunately, I couldn't go as I didn't have a driving license at the time.

Yeah, the real story is amazing, and honestly, it's more inspiring than the film.

As much as I enjoyed the film, it's incredible to me that they took Jann's story and somehow made it LESS interesting by disregarding many of the details to make it a better advertisement for the PS5/GT7. I really wish they'd committed more to telling the true story, and not just a story based on a true story.

His father scored a goal against Liverpool, and he scored a goal against the odds, awesome story!

jann grew up in the house next to my mum, janns mum still lives there and I always ask how he's getting on especially when he was in Japan, about a 2 years ago he bought a ferrari which proves his success, and he also brought home a 370z nizmo and let me get a little ride in it, he is absolutely amazing and he loves cars and racing, any time he's home I always speak to him

Dude got to live out the dream so many of us have and did so for a decent amount of time. Hats off to him for taking the chance and running with it.

I really enjoyed the film. I didnt know much about him, but it did open the door to me learning a lot more about him. The movie did take some "liberties" with his story, but I still felt it was a good movie for non-racing fans and racing fans would enjoy it. A bit of a disappointing decision to make a crash that happened a couple years after the movie as a big story element, especially when it resulted in the loss of life though. Kinda felt like they turned a tragedy into a opportunity without paying proper respects to the individual who died and Janns story. However, it was a good movie, the acting was good, the story (minus the crash) was good, and the cinematics were amazing.

I actually remember trying out for the Gran Turismo Academy for Gran Turismo 5. This is why I loved the movie because I was actually involved in this story as well!

He's a terrific racer. Hope he's got a seat for next year somewhere, if not during this one. Getting away from Nissan might be the best thing to happen to him given the increase in the hypercar grid (taking over from LMP1) in the last couple of years. More manufacturers are due to join, so it's possible we'll see him up the front again. Very proud of my young countryman! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

It seems like his career was a bit all over the place, being so good he was just kept on climbing the ranks. The movie was great and it was definitely inspiring. Coming back from such a traumatic accident takes guts and skill.

Ah yes, the movie when games help you get skill instead of skill issues

In the same vein, Id love to see you do a video on Jimmy Broadbent. Hes proof that not only sim racers can become real racers, but that its never too late or too much of a ling shot to pursue your dream
