The INCREDIBLE Ships & Vehicles CUT from Solo Movie - Concept Art Vehicles - Star Wars Explained

There are dozens of amazing ships and vehicles that were designed for the Solo: A Star Wars Story movie, but some of the most impressive were cut. Luckily with the book Art of Solo we can see the variants of Star Wars tanks that would have become cannon, the Millennium Falcon concept art, along with AT-Haulers, Imperial Arrestor Cruiser, TIE Brute, some new Imperial Walkers, different speeder bikes, Imperial Probe Droids, Dryden Vos’ ship, and so much more. Take a behind the scenes look at the new Solo movie.

It takes a hell of a lot to justify giant tanks. How do you get one planetside? Why can't you weaponise whatever's deploying it? What can it do that orbital bombardment or an in-atmosphere ISD couldn't? How much does it cost in AT-ATs and how much firepower and durability does it provide compared to that many AT-ATs? How many planets can it actually operate on? What are you fighting that warrants this?

3:27 I'm glad the directors didn't go with the Pontiac Trans Am look for the Falcon. Admittedly, the flames are kind of cool. 3:47 This looks like someone slapped TIE Interceptor solar panels onto the sides, added a bigger engine in the back, then extended the mandibles to the extreme. I'm glad they didn't finalize this design. Though it does have a cool, Imperial hot-rod aesthetic, it doesn't scream "Corellian Hot-rod" to me.

I get why those tanks are cool. But do they fit into star wars? I dont think so. First the Name: In starwars almost everything regarding the empire, or the repubublic ,or the first orders is labeled in a short term describing its properties. AT-AT, AT-TE, AT-OT, AT-AP, LAAT, TIE-Fighter, TIE-Mauler, ... I mean there are the more memorable names for things that take a main plot focus like: Stardestroyer, or DeathStar, Melavelance, The Citadel, etc.. You know... where almost the entire movie plays out. Its more of a Location than a vehicle. And then There ate the convoluted names from all the patchwork Rebel Fighting Force: Tantive IV, Nebulon-B, X-Wing, Mon-Calamari-Cruiser, B-Wing, A-Wing, etc... And lastly we got the Names for Character Individual Ships: Slave I, Millenium Falcon, Twighlight, Razor Crest, etc.. Yet calling somthing the "Behemoth" does not fit into this whole sheme for me. A behemoth is something i would expect from H&K, Rheinmetall, Glock, Baretta, or what ever Real World Arms manufacturer comes to mind. Its too much real world and not enough sci fi. Star wars was to me always very disconnected in world building to the world we live in. Building a big tank and call it the behemoth is just too ... lame. Second the whole Concept: Despite the fact that big tanks make no sense anyways, and would only aid as a cheap, although pretty visual element in a movie. But if you want that, you can just watch the sequel Trilogy. Thats the only thing they did right: making some pretty visuals. Or heck watch marvel movies, THEY ARE FULL OF BIG SPACE SHIPS AND TANKS... I really see nothing apealing in having that in StarWars again. There are Sand Crawlers afterall. Star Wars was always very grpunded when jt came to the casual fighting force. You got reacuring tanks that fit multiple Battlescenarios, because they needed to. The galactic war always played put throughout the whole galactic empire, not just one individual planet, so there was always a need for mass produced tanks with AT Capabilities. I cannot see how a massive tank, that would maybe fit one planet would be produced by the first order. What purpose would a giant behemoth tank even have? What justifies the investment in ressourced, and risk? The deathstar had a purpose in spreading fear and being the ultimate endgame weapon. Why do we need a big fucking tank called the behemoth on some dirt slave planet?

A lot of these tanks look like they're straight out of WWI with the triangular tracks, which I think was the point as the whole Mimban campaign heavily looks like a scene straight from the Battle of Ypres or the Somme.

Sweet show man. It's always nice to explore the "what ifs" of a series. Also nice to see they are pulling on some of the original Ralf McQuery designs to inspire them onwards

I’m happy that they didn’t go for the more outlandish designs for the falcon, and just sorta played it safe, so it was still different but not too different

I love how they’d shamelessly copy the Trans Am Phoenix onto the Falcon and how this would actually be considered, thank god they didn’t, would’ve been way too 4th wall breaking

The honorable mention with the red arrow I think is a Mandalorian Death Watch ship from Rebels. Might be a weird angle of it but that's what the wings look like and the center part.
