The Incredible Search for Minecraft's FIRST Ever Video

Ойындар

What is minecraft’s FIRST ever youtube video? You may think it’s notch’s cave game tech test, but what about the first ever PLAYER-made video? Hint - it is not Jan Willem Nijman/jwaaap’s “minecraft” video. This is the story of the incredible search for Evil-Ville’s “Minecraft Castle”, minecraft’s first ever video posted publicly to the platform.

No freaking way. I still have my doubts, but the details lines up. The old username sharing his first name, and the Discord avatar image that can still be found incorporated into Ville's Last fm banner. Unless this is a huge Ville Kallio fan, it's a small world to find him responsible for this video.

My own personal minecraft "lost" media is a map I was obsessed with as a kid. It was a city inside an enclosed structure made in late beta or early release. Its probably not even lost and I just haven't found it yet. Its crazy how now we are reaching a time where a map the creator themselves possibly doesn’t even remember but i have looked for it on and off for a while now same with this video EvilVille deletes a channel not thinking how his video is technical part of internet and video game history. The lack of early Internet preservation is something we are just now seeing the results of as people get old enough to be nostalgic for videos or series and those creators moved on with their life and probably didn't want any early Internet history to follow them. Good luck on your hunt.

This sounds a lot like a really old Hunger Games map. Big ruined city - there were quite a few of these actually but the downloads were taken down. edit: try looking at the 'Survival Games' series specifically Survival Games 2

Mine was a map that had an Iron, Gold, and Diamond door. Chosing the Gold and Diamond door would lead to death, while the Iron one would l read to riches. A simple map but one of my first experiences with Minecraft. I wonder if anyone knows what its called.

@@ceiyre5930 It was gonna be a server map apparently but this pre dates Survival Games, I browsed "minecraft city tours" from 2008-2012 found some nostalgic stuff the low resolution and bandicam watermark are weirdly more warm and inviting then modern crisp 4k content. the lesson to be learn is just because its online doesn't mean its forever preservation is still important.

I think one of the most interesting pieces of Minecraft lost media would be the PAX Prime Beta 1.8 build. There may be some chance that someone who was at PAX could have a copy of it or it could be still lying around in Mojang's files. Due to the big differences between that and the first pre-release, I'd love to see it be brought to life. In fact, I did make a remake of it but it's yet to be released.

I still have my old hard drive from 2008-2013, and in 2009 (when I was 20) I had played Minecraft. It's important for me to note that back then I used to save a lot of videos to watch them offline (because my Wi-Fi cut out a lot). so the hard drive filled up really fast and I ended up transferring hundreds of videos to another hard drive to free up space. Also at this time I came across the castle video mentioned in this video and although I don't remember saving it, I probably did save it because I saved almost every video I watched. However, I'm not sure if the hard drive will even work anymore; I don't know if anyone would be able to help me in somehow recovering the videos saved on it but it would be great to finally put this search to rest.

History is a funny thing, everything becomes valuable when it becomes rare and time passes. In physical archaeology on of the more exciting things is finding ancient trash... Back in their day it was litteraly what they dumped in a hole to never see again but now it's a data goldmine about daily life.

web archive is able to archive videos, but it doesn’t work very often, in my experience it’s something like 1 in 50 videos properly saved through webarchive. Evilville’s castle did have some metadata and video player assets saved but sadly the video is probably not saved from the upload itself. Maybe there’s a reupload out there?

Not sure if it would count as "lost media", per se, but... I remember a series of videos that used to live on the Minecraft Wiki before it moved to Fandom. They covered all kinds of details about various Minecraft blocks, items, and mechanics, and I think I remember that the two hosts were named Toby and David, not so sure on David. The thing is, I can't seem to find the videos on KZread anymore, and they were taken off the wiki either a little before or during the transition to Fandom. Does anyone else have any more information on this?
