I always thought one way to manage such a thing would be to hold perpratrators responsible for their actions and put systems in place to protect victims and help them rebuild. Because ultimately konoha aided in wrecking Pain's village and got away with it and never helped the place rebuild but Pain at least brought back konoha's dead

I love how I get comments on videos completely unrelated and unknown to my Naruto opinions (mostly on videos about Attack on Titan's ending) like, 'I bet you're also a fan of Naruto,' implying it's obvious bad quality. It's so funny that there's been a pushback in recent years against the abhorrent mistakes of basically everything 'analytical' KZread said 7 years ago, like everyone releasing the Nostalgia Critic was stupid or that Cinema Sins is dumb, yet the Naruto hate and constant dumb shit said about the series persists. This!!!! Naruto is brought up everywhere and everything anime related. If it’s as bad as they claim wouldn’t anything that is compared to it be automatically better than it? And that doesn’t speak of the inherent quality of the work that is being used to compare. Is something is shit being better than shit shouldn’t be your selling point but the bear minimum. The truth is naruto has become an ideal. It is literal put up against new anime despite ending 4 years ago. You would think any series to come out now should be better but noo. Let’s bring up a series that started in the early 2000’s and see if it holds against a series it probably influenced.

I haven't seen enough analytical videos on Boruto to gauge any deeper meaning other than a 20yr modernization of already touched upon plot points with back and forth quality. I still watch the show each week though and the unique bits like the current arc are what makes it stand out.

Danzo did face his own hypocrisy in the end and sacrificed himself for the village that's why he gets a small win by destroying Shisui's eye so his sacrifice wasn't entirely useless

13:45 This is what so many people that fail to understand Sasukes character don't get. They always wonder why doesn't Sasuke just go back to the village and be "good" if he now cares about Itachi. Doesn't he want to honor Itachis wish, they ask? No. Sasuke is his own man with his own ninja way. If he did that he would be supporting a village, a broken system that sees shinobi just as tools, system that thinks that genocide is a good price to pay for peace as stated in the video. They never get that. Sasuke then wanted revenge on danzo and when he got it his wind started to blow again. He wanted to understand Itachi more, he wanted to understand the world more. He went and spoke to the all knowing, the 4 hokage and he found a compromise and wanted to change the world for the better. He wasn't stagnant anymore. He even managed to make Orochimarus wind move again literally as he revived him and metaphorically as Orochimaru saw Sasuke as a change that needs to happen. Wind starts to blow again. Change happens. Maybe not always good, but someday it will be good.

I just came to a weird epiphany after watching this. Talk no Jutsu is actually kinda like catching Pokémon, you have to weaken the opponent first and then you use the Pokéball/TnJ to add them to your team. It's also easier to do that if you understand your opponent because, like, Pokémon type advantages and stuff.

well said, eventhough naruto series is not a "real world conflict" (at a glance) and resemble more like a hypothetical scenarios, but the writer & mangaka did try their best to present the problem and how the character resolve it, also thanks to you, through this kind of videos i'm able to do self-instropection and able to survive my depression (somehow), by accepting yourself , your flaw, and your strength, by stop denying the reality and accept it with its flaws, letting your feelings and emotion to flow like a river, and what is more important is, how to endure it, live with it, dude i think my friends would saw me as a weirdo if they found out i cry a lot when naruto choose not to kill nagato, and in the end nagato understood he fails, and he try to fix that, forgiveness, and self-forgiveness, acceptance, enduring those feelings, mix that with sadness and sorrow song, somehow i'm able to find myself throughout the confusion and darkness inside of my head again, thanks a lot

Another Great Video. Glad to have you around since I find your content not only good but perspective changing, even if just slightly in some cases. Keep up the good work and just be yourself.

One thing that has always bothered me about shinobi in general is how they talk about peace yet their job involves mercenary work, espionage and assassination especially for anbu. Besides if true peace was achieved they would all be poor. Also, there's no accountability. When konoha and the enemy they fought used Pain's village as collateral they got away with it and they left Pain's village in shambles yet when Pain attacks konoha he's treated as evil even after he brings back konoha's dead yet konoha got away with their crap and no one bats an eye. No one got punished for the Uchiha genocide and apparently in narutoverse clan genocides are a dime a dozen like Haku's clan, uzumaki clan, Yagura's civil war etc. Theres issues of slavery like the hyuuga clan, use of jinchuuriki, and the chaos of the part 1 chuunin exams. Hell in Hashirama's time it was a miracle for a child to make it to 13 years and that's just the iceberg. All in all the shinobi world is screwed up to the core. So l wonder how exactly can one stop the cycle of hatred when perpatrators aren't made to account for their crimes (sometimes even being victims themselves once upon a time), victims on receiving end of injustice have no support or aid of any kind to overcome and rise above.

It's shinobi world's hypocrisy. Look at leaf village. They talk about morals and act as if they hold the moral compass of the world but in reality hidden villages including Konoha are glorified mercenary organizations. The kill people for money. In the beginning Hirozen said that they receive all kind of missions. They won't see who they are killing as long as they get or they will starve.

yes but one piece nails characterization and roles of characters...even a character like brook saved robin in thriller bark then gets saved by zoro which already had him have respect for him on top of the kuma moments then helps get the thing from big mom...a character we just met late into the series is clutch as hell...and adds so much to the narrative...naruto never did stuff like that..a pirate who used to be on a crew joining is so cool as an idea..

It’s not a few words. It’s a whole conversation. Negotiations. Proving them wrong. Don’t forget these villains truly want peace. If they realize that they are wrong then they will change. Obito reslzied he was wrong when neji died and Naruto still didn’t give up. He knew he was wrong but kept staying on madaras side because he was alr doing this plan for years. But as Naruto talked to him personally 1 on 1 obito had no choice but to accept the truth. The old obito wouldn’t have wanted this.

Personality is not the most important thing it’s actually writing like themes/development/ideology. Not only does she parallel Christianity (Adam and eve) she represents greed by eating the fruit and then after turning evil she wants all chakra returned to her because she is the “mother”.

While these videos are really awesome and you do a good job ACTUALLY studying the series you cover I still have a lot of problems with the series like how Orichimaru is clearly the final boss but Kishimoto wasn't confident enough to end it early seeing as he was writing for shounen jump and had a lot of pressure on his back. Orochimaru was why I liked the series back in the day as he was a truly frightening, intelligent, and resourceful villain who was going to be very difficult to defeat, someone who it had seemed had contingency after contingency. When he denies that jutsu from the third hokage that shit was terrifying as a kid, he sealed Orichimaru's arms but at what cost? Kishimoto does a great job building these moments that make Orichimaru this threat and then he's not the main antagonist after a certain point. I just thought it was the most lost potential out of any of the plot personally. Keep in mind I have not seen the show in a long time and stopped when the manga ended in 2015 after its English release. So if I missed anything, that's my L.

Your video about the losers of Naruto and this one really changed me, Naruto went from a B tier to a S tier rivaling one piece good videos you even made me like Naruto again. But your last point it wasn’t talk no jutsu that saved sasuke, it was losing. Naruto didn’t say anything Sasuke didn’t know it was simply Naruto himself that changed Sasuke. Sasuke always fought and survived and when he lost the person who beat him wasn’t trying to save him or change him, Itachi was still playing the role of evil brother and even said his eyes was too weak. Madara defeated him to take his eyes. Every fight Sasuke got out of alive or won, he was proving their ideals weren’t right and that’s why they are dead and he was alive. All Naruto had to do was win, Sasuke knew Naruto’s ideals and no matter what talk no jutsu Naruto used Sasuke wouldn’t have listened, he needed to be proven wrong by Naruto keeping the peace by not killing him. Naruto won because Sasuke saw Naruto do what he said, he saved Sasuke without killing him Kaguya still sucks and what would’ve been better is if Madara dies because the chakra he obtained was harmful to himself and Madara has a choice to pass the power to someone else to have them die from it and it’s Hashirama that uses talk no jutsu doing what he couldn’t all those years ago and stop Madara and Madara decides to let the chakra kill him

By the way, is there any specific reason you left Gaara off this list? I feel like Gaara vs Sasuke ideology-wise was crucial to the Chunin Exams arc during the entirety of it. It is THE first plot point developed in the arc. Directly after the land of waves, when they get back to the village, and Team 7 is introduced to Gaara and his team.

Because Kakashi, despite best intentions, was speaking kinda horseshit on that dialogue. The only vengeance craving he could ever crave was on the rock ninja guy who destroyed the cave that crushed Obito. And he got it immediately. If anything it goes to show that maybe it's that vengeance that gave him the peace of mind he was able to achieve? Certainly a possibility at least. And his hypocrisy only goes deeper when he encourages seeking vengeance in Akatsuki Suppression, even though leaving village without permission in order to battle is also technically a crime and dragging along 2 other people to certain death is much worse. Reason? Difference in power. He just knows Konoha is too fucking weak for taking down Itachi so he tells him to let go, even though Sasuke "deserves" his revenge much more than Shikamaru. And if the system he lives in fails to do it's job that happens to be HIS ONLY REASON FOR LIVING, then why would he care one bit about it? Anybody would see it as worthless in his place. If Sasuke lost to Gaara while embracing bonds, Sarutobi lost to Orochimaru and Kakashi lost to Itachi, then why would anyone expect Sasuke to NOT think that solitude is the path to true strength? And it certainly worked out for him.

@@Reality-Distortion i agree with most of this but how tf did sasuke deserve his revenge more then shikumaru and kakashi what 2 ppl he dragged to they death and tsunade approved the mission to go take out kakazu and hidan because they just attacked the village and was near by and she only let shikumaru go because kakashi offered to go sasuke mission with itachi wasn’t a problem it was never approved or did it benefit the leaf or sasuke so if anything sasuke didn’t deserve it more and u gotta at this kakashi was close to asuma so he was getting revenge for a friend he didn’t know sasuke family and like I said revenge didn’t benefit sasuke so he was right but not right instead of telling sasuke what u doing is wrong he should have said wait and we can go together

@@dancarli8639 1. That's the thing - Shikamaru intended to go with only his teammates, which would be a suicide. And they were allowed to go ONLY because Kakashi tagged along. 2. I agree that Kakashi should've supported Sasuke and not just tell him to forget about it. It's an abysmal advice to be honest. 3. Saying that Itachi wasn't a problem is a complete bullshit. He's the most dangerous criminal in the Konoha's history and already came to it once and is associated with organization that is a threat. Also every village is obligated to deal with their nukenins. 4. Sorry but asking why does Sasuke deserve his revenge more is such a stupid question... in what world are their circumstances even comparable? Shikamaru's master dying is a walk through a park next to arguably the most fucked backstory of the series.

Sorry for the bothersome comments, but also not sure what exactly you are referring to with Orochimaru becoming stagnant. If he DID become stagnant then your point is significantly and substantially validated, as you provide plenty of complementary arguments, I'm just not sure how well your evidence stands up. He sees the village as stagnant, so he changes it by destroying it - giving up the past for a new present. He joined the Akatsuki, gave up on that. He even tried to "destroy" the Akatsuki by killing Sasori. When that didn't work out, rather than abandoning Kannabi bridge (stagnation) he instead stayed to fight FOR NO GOOD REASON (change). This even lead to further fostering of the next generation. If anything, Jiraiya is the one who stagnated by not training the next gen. Look at how much Sakura improved during the time skip compared to her part 1 self, and especially how much Sasuke improved. Compared to these two, Naruto had an internal battle all of the first 3 arcs of Shippudden about how weak he was... Pathetic ;.; Getting back on track, Orochimaru couldn't beat Itachi, so rather than having a "death grip on the past that he could not let go of" and continuing to pursue Itachi, he instead chose to give up on that specifically to foster the next generation with Sasuke. So much so, that Sasuke was fostered enough to SURPASS Orochimaru. You consider this as a contradiction to Orochimaru whereas I do not. Orochimaru was always changing, as he was a scientist who wanted to know all jutsu. He constantly experimented on numerous things, always changing and adapting. Again - so much so that he literally changed his OWN body. To me, Orochimaru is the embodiment of change rather than of stagnation.

@@Crunchysopa52 Haha nice, i already have a ton of ideas and even a few scripts already written. I've studied screenwriting seriously since I was 18 and I'm about to turn 23. I'm in my last year of college where I've taken screenwriting classes

Stuff like this makes me wish for a naruto reboot in about a decade that has better animation and pacing

For reference, I have a 50 page college thesis I am writing on why Madara is, and can ONLY be, the best character in all of fiction (objectively). So I would love a Madara video at some point. Maybe I could slide ya some pointers XD

I disagree with your premise that Naruto did not try to reach out to Sasuke during their fight in The Valley of The End. To say that Naruto failed to reach Sasuke would be more accurate.

"Itachi caused him GREAT PAIN. But perhaps that's because Itachi, too, had experienced so much" So, Itachi made Sasuke suffer because Itachi suffered. Screw Sasuke. Revenge is #1! *I'll just... pretend I didn't hear that.* :P It CAN kind of make sense if you argue it in a very specific way, but it also indirectly contradicts so much that - just..... No. XD

Also on the Itachi segment, you list his contradiction, but not his resolution. "Maybe if I had been honest with you from the beginning, you could have changed the clan". This is what would have stopped Itachi's compromise. Not doing this was his flaw. He only recognized this once he recognized Sasuke, in the end. That is the true tragedy of his character. Not his life, nor his contradiction, but him realizing (recognizing) his flaw and what he should have done from the beginning. Based on how you describe it in the video, it CAN be interpreted as Itachi living a not-awful life. At least in comparison to Haku. "Itachi's plot was one that manipulated the one he loved no differently than a tool. *Sasuke's emotions and feelings didn't matter.* What mattered is that Itachi BELIEVED he was thinking of him. Even as he used Sasuke for what he *BELIEVED TO BE* Sasuke's own benefit." Itachi DIED thinking this. It was not until the end of his Edo Tensei life that he realized he was wrong. This assumes that this did not bother Itachi throughout his entire life! "Sasuke was wielded as a tool for the sake of Itachi's love; Not Sasuke's own feelings... In wielding Sasuke like a tool, negligence of his younger brothers feelings... that brother would very much put his own feelings first. Even over those of the brother he came to understand." Itachi was selfish throughout his entire life, and this resulted in the suffering of the one he loved the most - his little brother. His own self interest blinded him to the point that he couldn't even recognize this blatantly obvious contradiction. This means that Itachi's character arc is just straight up "don't be obnoxiously and blatantly obsessively selfish to the point that you are blindsided from the world around you that you supposedly love" Itachi sucks. XD This takes a lot of the weight and meaning out of the tragedy of his character, as this is explored at the end with his recognition, as described above.

For FURTHER evidence of this, even after his death, Itachi still tried to control Sasuke. This is 1 through implanting Amaterasu to go off when he sees Obito's sharingan and 2 for kotoamatsukami to go off on him if he fights Naruto to destroy the leaf village. Even when revived with Edo Tensei, Itachi does not remove this factor. Instead, Itachi is forced to use that Koto on himself. Itachi would have left Koto with Naruto had Itachi been given a choice, but Kabuto essentially left him no other options. It is not until after the edo tensei is broken that Itachi, for the FIRST TIME can actually trust Sasuke. You know, the one he is supposed to love more than any other? Imagine not trusting the most precious person to you..... Haku blindly trusted Zabuza. Gaara blindly trusted his surrogate mother person that tried killing him. Kimimaro blindly trusted Orochimaru. These 3 trusted their most precious person so much that it resultred in all 3 of their deaths (Or in Gaara's case, her death, but that is a special case at no fault of Gaara) Heck, before the massacre, even SASUKE BLINDLY TRUSTED HIS MOST PRECIOUS PERSON TO HIM: *ITACHI..............* Itachi sucks. I rest my case. XD

FINALLY. It doesn't matter if Itachi is recognizing Sasuke in general (all forms of Sasuke, including pre-massacre Sasuke) becauses it is WHEN Itachi recognizes Sasuke that matters. He only recognizes Sasuke once Saske is nearing in power, relative to, or already surpassed Itachi (depending on your interpretation) which leads to the conclusion that Itachi believed Sasuke to be "too naiive" because Sasuke was weaker than him? Or because he perceived Sasuke as weak in general??!! This can assume that Itachi would have continued setting something up, controlling Sasuke in some way, not trusting in Sasuke or allowing him to choose whatever path he wants to walk down, before the edo tensei is released. Look at the examples listed above. Nobody who trusts the most precious person to them thinks that person is weak. Nor would they not trust (or think of them as naiive) if they were to be weaker than them, or that individuals perception of "weak". Screw Itachi! XD

I'm confused in your line of reasoning. So, there are clear disparities between part 1 Sasuke and Shippudden Sasuke in terms of resolve. Rather than treating these are 2 different characters, separated by a skippage of time, you seem to grasp at straws by claiming Sasuke took on Naruto's flaws. You claim that whereas Sasuke allowed Naruto to test his resolve, leading to Naruto utterly failing to compromise, this lead Sasuke to adapt this failing ideology? This makes no sense to me. Sasuke didn't "show no mercy" to enemies because he beat Naruto :P If anything, I believe that beating Naruto would strengthen his ideals and further his resolve, rather than the opposite that you seem to be claiming. If not that, then AT LEAST acknowledging Naruto's ideals as a failure and moving on - leading to a stagnant character rather than literally regressing into a weaker conviction. What do you think? Hopefully that came across as NOT unbearably rude... :P

Sasuke prefers to meet people with stagnation and despair. He tried to acknowledge Naruto, but Naruto didn’t acknowledge him just like nobody truly acknowledged sasuke his entire life. It was always about other peoples wants (what Itachi wanted for sasuke, what kakashi wanted for sasuke, what Sakura wanted for sasuke, what Naruto wanted for sasuke, what his father wanted for him) but never about what Sasuke wanted for sasuke. It was always about them and their needs, so it showed him that understanding your opponents or understanding others in this world is pointless, so that’s why he met people with the stagnation that everyone had met him with his entire life.

Talk no Jutsu was never good. Cope, seethe, dilate, etc.

Talk no jutsu is good but there should be limits to it. the conclusion to the pain arc sucks cause the tnj doesn't work there Nagato had tried finding alternative everywhere but saw he had no other solutions to try and bring some peace, he even read jiraya book and saw no answer yet naruto changed his heart without finding any solution just reading the same book. Also it doesn't work where obito is fully redeemed same guy that caused naruto parents, countless other's to die and toiled beast to die. He had a choice and his choice of destruction doesn't work the way naruto present it. You also have the 5 nations just one speech and now they all work together without any drama like the hyuga could have had some beef with Ao or Hinata and Neji with the cloud, everyone just worked well together right away. There is nothing wrong with tnj but it felt forced later onwards to the point they forgave orochimaru and kabuto
