I never got to play Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but I was always tempted to, and now that I can actually play a game like this just with my controller is the most fun I've had in a long time. And personally this is like my "main" mode of fortnite now

@@chrisscheurer9319 yeah but playing on controller on ps2 is not the intended way to play and it is unergonomic and uncomfortable for long hours of play. trust me I've. Theres a reason why whammys are not in fortnite yet, shit is difficult to do on controller.

I won't lie, this is definitely the game mode I was the most excited for this season, and I've been playing it pretty much every day since it came out. Song selection's been mostly good so far too.

it was nice for someone to at least mention Fortnite's actual origins even if you didn't put any footage from the early game there, huge fan of the game's original concept and art style from 2013-2018

I'm one of the very lucky few that actually owns a physical copy of Fortnite from July 2017! I've never played it tho, hence why I showed some BR gameplay instead lol I'll have to give Save the World a shot!

If you at least booted it up during that time, you should have Founder's status on your account, which gives you extra benefits including an account XP multiplier and gaining V-Bucks alongside X-Ray Tickets in cases where players beyond 2020 would just get X-Ray Tickets. I've always been hankering for a physical copy of the game, it'd be such an interesting display piece, especially considering almost all of my other physical PS4 games are decorated paperweights because of online services going away...

I remember playing guitar hero back then as a kid not sure which one but this Fortnite festival mode has been really fun and although it’s new feels nostalgic at the same time and I can’t wait till there’s more content added!

As someone who wanted a new 5 fret GH game / RB5 and was stuck in Clone Hero this is an absolute win.

I've only played one harmonic game but after fn festival, I want to play them all.

3:00 as much as I would like to hope that these charts are intended to be added to the game at some point, these charts very well could exist simply for the purpose of animations so that the characters play the songs correctly instead of just hitting 4 drums/not strumming every note on guitar. I believe animations were programmed similarly in games like rock band 1/2, where characters are animated using these midi files to play the songs correctly despite there being no playable pro drum charts.

To me, Festival is what I feel is the answer to an official rock band or guitar hero game. I know 4 continues to get DLCs to this day, but I think many were yearning for the next rock band.

The DLCs for 4 are nice, but you're right, the price of a physical copy of RB4 has gone up quite a bit over the years, and it's still missing quite a lot of quality of life improvements to bring the game up to modern standards imo. Harmonix already having licenses for current DLC songs is a good sign that FNFestival will have some bangers, though, and I'm super excited for these weekly drops!

Can two players both play the same guitar track at the same time? Rock band took this away from us by requiring a base and guitar thus eliminating the competitive aspect of guitar hero

yes, on a party you can pick whichever instrument you want; still, there's a small bonus modifier for points for the "band score" if everyone in the group plays different instuments

Grow up with the Guitar Hero games (World tour and my fav Guitar Hero 3) but fall off after not getting another new console to play the games. Festival made me remember why I love Guitar Hero in the first place, but even then there are a lot of things that need polish. Gamebreaking bugs like the song never starting or end, the replay button when playing alone getting removed because of how glitchy it was literally breaking the game, and the lack of good animations or even a good scenario to play in cause the one we have is empty as hell, the Eminem concert had the perfect one and they chose a empty place filled with generic bots (at least games like Guitar Hero and Rockband made sure to avoid letting you see the entire public with shadows and with how good the scenario was you didn´t even notice. Even then, I love this mode and its probably the one I played the most this whole season. Really hoping for more bug fixes and better upgrades instead of just adding new songs, even after the big update we didn´t get any noticeable change, nor bug fixes or anything. Again, I have my hopes up.

It can get to wear rockband 4 is they will just need to do a bunch of updates

Fortnite Festival is 100% the best way to get into the rhythm game highway style genre of games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. If you LOVE this style and want to try other games (and have a decent PC) you can try out these fan projects to get a taste of what the community is like, what they can make, and (if you download the old sets from past GH and RB games) what the past entries in the series had to offer. Of course, the largest hurdle is going to be getting a guitar controller/any of the band peripherals, but hopefully over the next few months that will change. I got back into guitar hero 2 years ago after suddenly getting the urge to buy a PS2 and play the original game, and ever since my collection of Guitar Hero and Rock Band games has grown considerably. Not only did I end up collecting the games on PS2, I later bought a PS3 and all the games on that console, including a few instruments. Festival's small changes to the gameplay have already made an impact on my skill, as before I could only play medium or hard mode in GH or RB when now I'm able to get gold stars on a few songs in expert. Hearing about what's cooking for the game, I'm super excited to see what the team has in store for us next.

The Sims' soundtrack has always been legendary

Tbh the mode is not bad but the most songs don't make sense playing in my opinion, cuz a rockband can't really play the music that you currently can play... and then there are songs like... gangnam style... Whats also missing for me is just the performance on stage by the characters. They do basic moves and nothing more, it feels empty. You also have just a single map, which doesn't have anything special about it. For me it just lacks the guitar hero style of being over the top with the environment and the motion capture for the songs where the characters feel alive and not just like an animation loop.

It’s so fun that I can play with friends :) I love fortnite for implementing this

It's good however the age classification thing kinda limits a lot of the possibilities this could have, it's safe to say that we will never see some songs unless Epic ramps it up a bit

The mode is rated "Teen" inside of Fortnite itself, so I don't see that being much of an issue imo

How did Fortnite go from a multiplayer FPS in the works to a multimedia video game? I'm not complaining since this gives me a spark of hope for a rhythm game resurgence, but seeing how far Fortnite has gone is mind-blowing.

The buying songs is seperate from the ability to play them in "festival." You're able to buy "jam tracks" that are usable in "main stage" or like emotes in battle royale. In festival you still can only play the songs in the rotating playlist, no matter what you buy. And the pdp guitar, it seems like, was cancelled. Or at least delayed. Which is a bummer cause i was looking forward to grabbing one. Edit: glad I was wrong on both accounts

That’s simply not true, if you buy a song you can use it in festival, it’ll appear as OWNED. And if your friend is in the lobby they’ll see the song you purchased as SHARED, not featured.

Nah, you can play jam tracks in the main festival mode. Try it- grab a friend who owns a song that isn't in rotation, you'll be able to play it. Also, the PDP guitar is still coming! Acai was actually just sent one lol

There is no importance in fortnite festival its just an ass gamemode they decided to publish
