Hard work and Consistency towards success is very important for sure!:)
Great talk ! If only, in my country, the government uses that kind of idea to make school's program's, I wouldn't have to waste half of my time in a week learning stuff that aren't very useful for what I want to do later. Anyway, this video is just awesome !!!
I love ted talks
What a really good serie

yeah I think I had a bunch of projects to do but I was just watching videos instead.
Concentration and Focus are linked, that's it. Because you can't focus unless you care about the thing you are concentrating on...The two are one in the same. I would say it would be a better to say the two key principles here are Focus and passion or whatever you wish to call it, pursuit or whatever you are committed to. They are yin and yang just like everything in life.
The mother/father of all skills are motivation, purpose, values, discipline, focus and readiness.
That is exactly what i needed to hear.
That laughing tape though..
Discipline is obtained by practicing. Practicing discipline is what makes focusing possible!

I believe as much as it is practice it also about being in a mind set to say "anything that does not get me to my goal, is not important". so when you get that text message you should say if it doesnt get me to my goal the do not engage.

imagination vs focus which is better
Really great animations !
So so helpful & to th point.
When I focus like a lazer I do well with a single mind that helps to do things well... one project at a time.
this video helps me understands focus thank you this video helps
can't agree more. you can't imagine the good impact of turning off the social media on concentration and efficiency on daytime work and quality of life.
Very informative 🌸
i've been looking for a key to accomplish certain goals, i think i'll give your advise a try )
Great Video, Thanks for sharing I had like 1000 goals and did not achieve anything. Luckily, I caught hold of this “importance” mobile app by Lokesh which helps prioritize my goals into 5 types and now I can easily manage all my things. One of the 5 types is delegating which has alone saved my 70% time and energy!
Many successful people have ADHD and they can focus very intensely, but only for a short period of time. So they focus like crazy on one thing, then they switch to focusing intensely on another thing, and then another, and another. And all the things they're focusing on are usually related to their one major focus and passion, like Bill Gates with software.
actually what I read sometime back is that, when you are not planning then your planning to fail and hard work am to it starts with dream.

I have a lot of trouble concentrating, and staying focused. I have a lot of memory problems. I have brain damage, and had a stroke. That was undetected because I couldn't get to the dr. I had no insurance when that happened.
Liboo52, thanks for your comment, had never heard of Big Think, just subscribed, looks great !
Working while watching this...oh focus was it? >.
superb
very right. focus is like a laser light so more you concentrate more you will find solutions. thank you and welcome on my channel. all the best.
ironically, watching this video has been a distraction from me focusing with my homework... lol
where are the other links of those 8 traits?
Focusing on just one thing can make you achieve your goals and be successful, but it makes your life super boring: there are super interesting things to know about in a lot of fields and the knowledge of one area nourishes the knowledge on the other areas. That is why the concept of the renaissance man or multipotentiate is nowadays so trendy.
Best Music Blog
where's the other 5 presentations?
Alan Turing who is regarded as the father of computer science ran marathons at a world class pace.
Only focus on one thing at a time. Once you feel confident in that field, move on (if you want to). You can master a lot of things if you do them sequentially, but if you try to do them all at once you won't master any.
Yea... I'm watching this video while I should be studying.... I'm delaying it... xD...
The Importance of Focus
Focus focus you will achieve what you want.
Concentration is great, but can you only be great at one thing? How do you explain the achievements of polymaths like leonardo da vinci?
I like to be a programmer someday but im focused in music making what should i do
Nice

Comments on Leonardo Da Vinci. How do we know that he didn't just FOCUS intensely on many things?? Obviously no one can know since none of us where there. But we can not make the assumption that he didnt focus, just because he did many things. Do you think he didn't focus on painting?? Do you think he didnt focus on inventing? he has books and books of inventions, you cant do that without focus. He was just a rare human that could focus on many things, and off course he was brilliant !
How will I become Lawyer without attending a day of school and then in the future a university to get the Law degree?
blame the browser for having an open in newtab option :D
where is the rest of the video? for 4. Push, 5. Ideas, 6. Improve, 7. Serve, 8. Persist? TED-Ed or anyones?
Wheres the next one?
It's ironic because i'm watching this video when i should be doing my homework right now...
Am i the only one who thinks about how someone knows there is a sirene if he cant hear it?
nice
wow
Even if i want to focus on one thing (long term wise) i can't coz i get bored...if i want to keep somethin goin i have to do several things so as not to have a chance to get bored :/
Srsly guys? He said to young ppl to not focus too early, find what they love first and then focus on it. And 1 more point dat u all miss: FOCUS ON WHAT U LOVE so dis focus advise doesnt really work for studying schools subjects if u didnt love it. Watch the entire series so u can understand.
but now microsoft is doing surface pro which is not just a software company anymore as it has expanded its business towards hardware as well, wish them a success anyway
Hey, is this guy Canadian? His "out"s sound just like Buckley's.
I am watching this video. ( 2021 )
Your content is great Richard, but the laugh track is super distracting. Keep the message coming!
He looks like the person from Detroit become human in the painting scene
Its funny because I should be studying right now. Okay okay, I'll accept the message and study... well... maybe one more video
Focus Guys, Focus. =D

8 to be great but there's only 4 videos
Bu... but Richard Feynman? he was very good at one thing and good at several many other things.
I can sleep with noises surround me
Wow, the Bill Gates part says a lot about his role in Microsoft. "If you want to be a great software company, you have to be ONLY A SOFTWARE COMPANY" he is quoted as saying.... Explains a lot about Microsoft, whom makes software, hardware, and even products containing both.

How do you define young when you say, "When you are young, dont focus too much"

maybe the beginning of your career life or adulthood , because when you were not old enough this would not mean that much to you probably , anyway it is not any kind of age limitation I guess rather stage limitation . I believe you should always start the wildest thinking then narrow it down by time , by stages. anyway catching chances is also a key, many companies do this all the time and I forgive them for their mistakes because I can see myself doing the same. rushing for the opportunity that may rise, I believe this one would be a very clear red big freaking sign in your life that will read " you have to focus now".

it's not actually you just spent 5:56 minutes to make your life successful and i think that's a great investment.
I brought in nearly 3 BILLION dollars. I guess that means it was successful regardless of how crappy you or I thought it was.
Get Brain.fm. It will change your life in terms of "focus on demand", whenever you need to.
I'm focused towards internet. B-)
What if I don;t want to focus? what if my passion is just to be decent at everything? what if my passion is to dable and seek for new experiences? what if my passion is to be the jack of all trades? does this mean I will not be successful?

RodasTadeu there is no harm in learning new thing, it in fact gives meaning to our lives, but if you want to do something extra ordinary you have to focus on that thing only.. we are humans not machines, we can not be great at everything..
Good point Raymond. Now get back to your homework! Richard
So, I should stop driving my car to focus

I woudn't dare to disagree - I'm all in favor of the message -, but his 'evidence' is completely anecdotal and there's hardly any analysis.

People this is complete bullshit. I would go as far as saying, most of the successful people in the world have hobbies. And they're pretty Damn good, if I do say so myself.
Cameron focused for 4 years on that piece of crap Avatar? That's just sad.
Really didn't like this talk. He is the complete opposite of Ken Robinson. And will probably just convince young creative people to focus too early on stuff they really don't want to do.
And his jokes are horribad!
