He is operating well within the law that’s why he doesn’t care about criticism and that’s why he didn’t care to comment about those Dudula hooligans either. He is lawfully carrying out his duties, lawfully catching crime syndicates and lawfully arresting and deporting them.

Finally the truth is spoken. People in ivory towers are clueless as to what is happening at the bottom, hence they have no empathy for suffering SANS. It's more important for them to look good internationally. I am a foreigner in the UK. I had to abide by strict entry laws. I had to have a certain amount of money and the salary i would be earning have to above the UK standard level. In other words a highly skilled or short skilled job. Although the UK has a lot of people flooding into the UK, they are better controlled. Employers are strictly forbidden and heavily fined if they employ illegal migrants or don't follow the law of making job available to a British first. . They have a whistle-blower line for the public if they suspect it is transgressed. Doing this alone had reduced a lot of influx of economic migrants pretending to be asylum seekers. They also randomly check that business owners are legal and registered as businesses and are tax payers.. Asylum seekers are forbidden from working, and this a major contributor to their asylum seeking numbers going down, because it cuts out bogus asylum seekers. Asylum seekers are supported by the Home Office. They in Hostels/ B&B , run by local businesses/ people who has to provide them with meals, help get children into schools, etc. A good incentive for job creation for local people. Also the fallacy that documenting everyone will not make the problem go away. As long as you competing for scarce resources, i.e basic jobs, places in overcrowded schools, you will have problems. Poor Citizens don't have issues with high earners because they do not usually compete with them. It the ones at the bottom they compete with. Hence the reason why British had problems with Eastern Europeans and opted to Brexit. As for Crime. Any serious offence, including just having an illegal firearm (this alone will give you mandatory 5 year sentence British or not) you are a flight risk. It's remand for you. You get a prison sentence of more than 12 months, you are deported automatically. You can fight your case if you have family in the UK, but if its rape, murder, armed robbery drug dealing forget it. SA needs to apply the law and you will have less problems. Migrants do not come to SA for the nice weather(unless you a retiree from the northern Hemisphere). Some come for family, but the poorer ones comes for jobs, health care. and of cause criminals come to commit cross border crime. Cut out these opportunities and you have border control.

There is a big difference between Europe and Africa so please do not give Britain as an example because it is advanced economically…African countries do not need borders because one way or another, our ancestors came from the other side…African governments need to agree on free movement which will encourage Africans to trade this creating less problems.South Africans have a problem of thinking and believing they’re superior than other African countries, yet forget that Africa was with them in times of apartheid. We helped build that country and so need to support each other rather than hating each other. This divide and conquer that was creating by those Europeans who colonised us is still in our system and needs to be dealt with.Just because you live in the U.K and has seen the system they use, does not mean we have to adjust to that because it is not in our African spirit. We need to disassociate ourself from this mental enslavement because it will only lead to hate and hurt.

Remove the incentive and you remove the problem. It is also why we have people migrating to the Western Cape and Cape Town in the thousands daily. The last functioning part of South Africa. But it won’t be like this for long, eventually the western cape will collapse just like the rest. South Africans love their servants, rich poor, black or white. They all love having servants. This will be our downfall. Shanaaz is correct.

It’s an unnecessary strain on the poor of this country. The Somalians, Ethiopians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshi have destroyed ownership of the local spazashop economy and pushed locals out. In the Western Cape, they controlled over 70% of it. You can’t tell me this is normal and healthy.

Such an informative, well articulated interview. Appreciated the fact that Faith did not let it hang and also asked about inter countries relations in respect of immigration. It is true that in Zimbabwe slots to come to SA are sold by government officials. They are the most profitable. However, the SA government should be clever than that. You cannot expect Zimbabwe to prioritize borders when it is not beneficial to Zimbabwe. SA needs to introduce laws that require 1. That on arrival or being captured etc the embassy or diplomacy of the relevant foreigner is informed of their person, 2. That a living or movement within SA tax is charged on such person until they inform SA of their exit out of SA, that for every public services given or rendered on the person, e.g. Access to school or health services at state hospitals, the costs are immediately sent to their embassy and diplomatic offices for payment. This measures will reduce illegal immigration without the need to be at the border, and it will also force this other countries to not allow their own people to just come to SA, when they cannot afford to live here.

interesting thoughts. Perhaps another solution: Require visas for entry into South Africa at all levels. This would go against SADC ideas of free travel, similar to the EU. However, free travel within the EU only works between nations of similar socio-economic levels-see the resentment in the UK from immigrants coming from Eastern Europe. So I guess what i am saying is, introduce a visa application system, whereby the applicant can demonstrate that they are self-sufficient, and/or have skills that the country demands. I am not saying that i have an opinion one way or another on the immigration issue (I dont really feel that i have the right to an opinion)- however, it seems to be the case that South Africans by and large have rejected the idea of open borders within SADC and Africa generally.

Not only Zimbabwean nationals enter through Beitbridge port of entry, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, DRC just to mention a few. Zimbabweans in particular are economic refugees here and to address this, ANC should have dialogue with it's sister revolutionary party, Zanu pf, they're in a position to solve this problem but there has to be a political will by both parties especially ANC

Faith Mangope thank you so much for a balanced nuamced interview. The South African mainstream media has abandoned the strife of poor South Africans. The black middle class has also abandoned the strife of fellow poor black South Africans. They live in gated communities and can account for everyone within the estate but frown upon poor communities wanting the same in their respective communities. Julius Malema lives in a gated community. His kids attend some of the best private schools in the country. I am quite certain Julius Malema's wife gave birth to their kids under dignified conditions. Does he not want the same for an average struggling poor black families that are set up to compete for basic services with ILLEGAL UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS? More importantly Julius Malema has a farm. Why doesn't he make his farm available for housing illegal undocumented immigrants? The hipocricy is astounding. The poor are truly marginalised. The government has abdicated it's responsibility to the poor. It's a feeding frenzy at the expense of the poor. The biggest beneficiary being Ramaphosa and his circle of friends.

If the govt can begin to apply proper fingerprinting of citizens or anyone within the country to determine who is documented or not, we would not be having this immigrants fracas. Many people who have walked through the borders, or driven through such borders, cannot enter this country illegally. Its just that this govt does not employ knowledgeable people, with skill, ability, strategic thinking people. If this govt is serious about solving this problem, they must stop 🛑 deploying their comrades, friends and allies. And the reactionary personality of our ministers will come to an end.

There needs to be strong action taken against entities and individuals who deliberately seek to draw in and exploit illegal immigrants as a way to cut costs and avoid our labour laws. For as long as the demand side is not curbed there will remain incentive for economic migrants to enter the country illegally.

Guys from experience, when you and your spouse allow a family member or friend to stay with you when they are in need. You might allow it but only for a time. When resources become scarce your children start, starving and lacking on account of the member who is overstaying their welcome... How will you react?? Sadly you have to understand when I have to ask you to leave in order for those resources to be redirected to my immediate family to whom are my first priority 🤔 Trying to justify that is foolish. It's simple, say thank you and appreciably leave.. I'm amazed when people are actually chanting about rights that actually are secondary to those of the land... I'm not here to build hate but just think logically, you will not tolerate naughty kids from next door in your yard.. Try to return to your home's and effect change as a mass, let our prayers for one another be from our own homes 🤔 let each sort out his own house..

I visit Zimbabwe occasionally, and it is obvious that what is left of the economy in that country is entirely dependant on South Africa. This explains the panic from Zanu-Pf when Motsoaledi was going to deport large numbers of undocumented Zimbabweans last year (I forget the details). It will be interesting to see if the ANC changes its position regarding Zimbabwe.

To avoid situations like this, we need to fix two things, first our politics and second being our economies. We have for so long allowed dirty politics to take a centre stage at the expense of the citizenry. In terms of the economy I believe regional integration is the option where those with money can invest beyond their borders to create much needed jobs. With regional integration, a lot of red tape can be removed

Peope who r running away from their countries must be known in this country and their whereabouts. If we can stop 🛑 the politics of the stomach, just for 5yrs, we can begin to bring our beloved SA back at the starting point, at least, of being on track to where JL Dube, prince A Luthuli, OR Tambo etc wanted us to be.

Immigrants will never stop coming in South Africa nomatter what you do. The best solution in terms of jobs, every company hires undocumented foreigners has to be fined a lump sum of money. Department of labor should do random checks in all businesses in Rsa. When it comes to crimes, all undocumented foreigners should be informed to go to their embassy/country to certify their legal documents or apply for their passports and Rsa should issue them a temporary renewable iD card every 6months and they should pay +R400 in every renewal. Those id cards should allow them to work and open accounts. Companies should hire a certain number of foreigners e.g if a company has 10 employees, may ONLY hire 3foreigners 7citizens. Failure to do so a company has to be fined. Once a company exceeds the limit of foreign employees must be charged R25000 per head. Those are found without those id cards should be sentenced in jail for 5years and get deported after. The moment they are in jail they should be taken to work for free painting bridges, fixing roads , cleaning the cities and so forth.. believe you me we will live in harmony.
