Not sure I can agree that the Japanese view of Americans and propaganda to their folks about our intentions can compare to the well earned reputation Japan earned in China.....don't see that as balanced

It is propaganda by the Empire we're talking about here, it's as thinly veiled as their propaganda of liberating Asia, instead of just conquering it. They genuinely thought plainly stating they were coming to China would make the Chinese civilians celebrate their presence. That's how delusional they were.
Its so funny how honered japanese felt to give ther life for the enperor to me that is stupid as hell.

The irony was that there was a horrendous typhoon that damaged or sunk numerous American ships right before the end of the war!
