As you have so much here, I’m wanting to listen to this again. Your lecture is so comprehensive. And this is number one for five - each about an hour and a half long. This seems a good view of how to examine our spiritual life in relation to our daily life and its activity’s, thoughts and feelings. I’ve never been to a retreat, so I’m gathering that this is what a good retreat aims to deliver and accomplish. Lord, Jesus, have pity on me a sinner and help me to redirect my steps and my ways of thinking. Amen.

Hello, I’m sorry as I was mistaken in there being five lectures, this is four more as a continuation of this lecture. I mistakenly got that number from one of the videos on Catholic Faith to the right of this video. I only realized that after I sent the message and starting the next video. If you are a good book reader, get Thomas a Kempis “The Imitation of Christ”. Best to you.

Within the first few pages, I felt like I got punched in the face! WOW! If you are a true believer-this book is scary and magnificent!

From 3 years ago, but even more relevant today. It only gets worse in the world, however, if we keep things Christ centered, we are the solution to the world’s problems. Most of the world, including family, will scoff at you, “why doesn’t he get drunk”, “why is she so calm and loving during a disagreement?”, “or get involved with fantasy football?” “Motherhood is so demanding, I need a break”- this is our world. The dog thing I see 100%, and I get ridiculed and get upset because people would call me uncaring for God’s creatures. I will strive to see how Christ would react. Honestly, as a man with grown kids, I’ve never heard such a loving, crystal-clear, and timely message.

The day came I was her sponsor, fainting with joy Jesus! Today we both pray daily the holy rosary! When I am too sick to pray, I feel empty not praying I feel a loss:( I am full of J O Y today even in the mist of all this evil darkness, Jesus I trust in you ;) Holy Mother Mary pray for us, she is not dead that is a lie:(

On pg 34 is The Prayer to Overcome Evil Passions and to Become a Saint, pg 35 has the Commission of the Care of Soul and Body (bringing in Mother Mary) and pg 36 Protection Prayer. I say these 99.9% every night before bed and never have any issues. My Blessed Rosary is next to me and St. Benedictine Medals and Mother Mary's Miraculous Medals too - all Blessed by my priest. Might consider that as well. God Bless!!!

Friar I am reminded of the word, "witness" in Acts 1: 8. The Greek is "μάρτυς" (martys) a word that we get the word "martyr" from. We witness to our faith by being martyrs. According to Acts 1: 8 there is a special grace bestowed on those that remain true till death in giving a witness to the resurrection of Christ Jesus the Lord. I want that grace to keep me true if our Lord should want me to serve Him in that capacity. We know that the Holy Spirit Who indwells the true follower of Christ is our strength, and He will be our strength in that final hour if we are called upon to witness to Christ's resurrection through death. Not everyone that names the Name is a genuine believer, only those that do the will of God are truly His.

"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God"......We don't have memes of scripture because we are not reading it enough, nor HEARING IT enough. Listen to something enough and it will be readily on our lips. If "Faith comes by hearing" we need to hear it repetitively. We must be Doers of the word of God. But how can we do it if we aren't familiarizing ourselves with it?

I don't know I agree but also disagree. Mainly because this sounds kinda narcissistic to say that other peoples wounds don't matter. I think they do. Our whole purpose is to love God AND bring more souls to him so he can love them. I don't think you can do that by minimizing other people. I agree we need to be mature, but I don't know if this way of doing it is right.

The way he describes St. Joseph's business practices makes him sound like a doormat, and respectfully, I'm just not buying it. Where did Fr. get that view from? Was it pure speculation or is there some actual basis to believe St. Joe carried out his business that way?

Do you really think that Saint Joseph didn't get paid? It was the duty of his state in life as a husband and father to support his family and you can't do that if you let people steal from you. I am quite certain he both demanded and received a fair wage for his work.

Where is the proof for this interpretation of the Gospel story? That Joseph didn't charge his work and worked "for justice"? That shepherds were low social status? Why is this father inventing all this stuff, that really isn't to be found in scripture?

This is a humble , good priest, ordained by God . Remember King David had the opportunity to kill Saul, but refused to because he was ordained? The shepherds were poor wanderers. Not hard to understand. St joseph was the foster father of God. Why shouldn't he be humble and work for justice. He was not full of grace and sinless, but was certainly a great protector of the Holy Family. I'm sorry that you misunderstood the good Padre. God bless you!

@@davidshoulta6142 Humble priests don't make stuff up. That is the province of the proud. There is no evidence that Saint Joseph was not paid for his work. It would have gone against the duties of his state in life to not seek remuneration for his labor in order to support his family. Saint Joseph was a husband and father. He was not a monk.

@EJL Maybe, but it didn't seem that way to me. It seemed to me like he was saying that the Holy Family didn't have any money because Joseph didn't care whether he got paid or not. Saint Joseph was a man of great courage and tenacity who got the Child and his mother out of Bethlehem in the middle of the night when Herod's goons were after them. I'm sure that he was more than capable of getting paid for his work.
