The Illusion of Reality - Alan Watts (No Music)

Alan Watts - The Illusion of Reality (No Music)
Alan Watts often spoke about the illusions of reality and how our perception of the world can be distorted by our thoughts and beliefs. He believed that we often create mental constructs and stories that we mistake for reality, leading us to misunderstand ourselves and the world around us.
One of Watts' key ideas was that our sense of self, or our ego, is a construct that we create in our minds, rather than a fixed or objective reality. He argued that we often identify with our thoughts and emotions, creating a sense of separateness from the world around us. According to Watts, this sense of separateness is an illusion that creates suffering and prevents us from experiencing our true nature.
Watts also spoke about the illusion of time, arguing that our perception of time is a mental construct that we use to make sense of the world. He believed that past, present, and future are all part of a larger reality that is beyond our normal perception.
In addition, Watts often discussed the illusion of control, pointing out that we often have a false sense of control over our lives and the world around us. He believed that this illusion can lead to feelings of anxiety and helplessness when things don't go as we expect.
Overall, Watts' perspective on the illusions of reality was that our perceptions of the world are often shaped by our thoughts and beliefs, and that we need to be mindful of the mental constructs we create in order to avoid suffering and experience a deeper sense of connection with ourselves and the world around us.

About Alan Watts:
Alan Watts was one of the very first philosophers to interpret Eastern ideologies for a Western audience. Alan Watts was born outside of London in 1915. It was in his youth when he first discovered a nearby Buddhist lodge. In 1938 he moved to the United States where he became an Episcopal priest and relocated to Millbrook, New York,. it was here that he wrote his most pivotal book The Wisdom of Insecurity: A Message for an Age of Anxiety.
Alan later moved west to San Francisco in 1951. It was here that he began to teach Buddhist studies, and in 1956 he started his well-known radio show “Way Beyond the West.”
By the sixties, his radio talks were aired nationally and the counterculture movement had truly adopted him as a spiritual genius. Alan continued to write and travel until the end.

@@Mr.CreamCheese69Most of my time is spent in solitude also. There is no person here that wants anything from a person there. All is one - so the apparent I and apparent others are The Absolute Infinite appearing as separate but never being anything other than The Whole. However, within The Whole are real illusions. The sky really does appear to be blue. But if you fly up and open the window of your plane to fill a container with the air up there you’ll find when you land that it isn’t blue. But the blueness is a real illusion. If your painting a picture of the sky you’d be silly to not paint it blue, because the blue is not real. Apparent humans believing the sky to be blue cannot really be termed “filth.”

@@Mr.CreamCheese69 by labeling and judging how people view said facades as “filth” your ego has come into play. The universe just is, nothing else. But if you take relative reality into account, you would not see filth, but suffering. Other beings clinging to ideas and facades is suffering, and you should never judge them for experiencing this suffering.

One thing I noticed: at 10:00 minutes he strikes a gong as he says "this". Only not too loudly, so he can talk over it. Your noise gate erased it. The second gong is audible. I suggest you use it to replace the gong that was erased. Otherwise perfect :)
