Greek mythology extends to Iranian mythology as well, in fact that whole region. It's very deep and I'm only now being serious with Greek Mythology. It would be nice to form a study club for the illiad.

I'm always confused, i read the german book/tale of the "Nibelungen". Equal to this story, you don't know what you reading, until you see some "one of a kind" trope, and it hits you. Trojan horse? Hagen? I know that, and then, you realize that in every fiber of our culture, there's some of the old. You can't erase the past to that degree.

I like to imagine this is just the story people made up to explain a time when all the warriors left for a couple decades. Like the whole sea peoples stuff, I could totally see there being a famine or something and a bunch of Greeks(along with a bunch of other island/seafaring people) went out to plunder their neighbors for all the riches they bragged about having. Taking over all islands, Ugarit, the Anatolia coast, before getting stopped at Egypt. What was left limped back home to find their kingdoms in ruin and possibly invaded by other groups from the north. Writing practically disappears for a while and when it comes back we get a story like the Illiad, totally fictional, but I like to think it was based on a survivor who made it back telling super embellished stories as to where he was and what had happened to him over the last couple decades away. Like if Bilbo left the shire for all that time with the dwarves and they didn’t actually experience any difficulty at all, but when Bilbo gets back in the shire he makes up this whole Lonely Mountain adventure story to tell to young Frodo.

it is great work! But it is not Iliad. It is a mix of stories about the trojan war. The original Homer's Iliad is something more than a story. However , it is grest work! Thank you!

This story was so much more epic than the one they told in Troy the movie. Netflix or HBO should do a 1-3 season series on this event ala Sparticus. Could be epic with the right people in charge.
