    And Pete is right. I had an Electromatic Pro Jet (bit higher range, TV Jones blacktop pickups, same controls) and the master volume and tone setting changed the overall tone, a bit like a Gibson i.e. - high volume starts to gently go to overdrive and with tone rolled off you can get woman tone. Lower master volume with mid tone on the neck pick-up you can get a cleaner George Benson style jazzy vibe. This is on top of the classic Gretsch twang ( epitomised by George / Beatles ) - needs a good valve amp as the output is quite low from the flitertrons / broadtrons. At the price, they make a great case for a step up guitar as they are well built and have this flexibility. The Streamliner and ProJet are Asian made - we genuinely had no issues and the finishing, binding, fret ends were excellent for the price. Recommended.

    I bought a Chinese-built Gretsch Electromatic from Andertons in the Christmas sale. Like Lee, I was initially wary of the Bigsby, because it slipped out of tune rather easily. But it's "settled in" somehow and now works beautifully, allowing major bends and returning to pitch very reliably. It's actually the first vibrato I've ever really got on with. That, plus the distinctive-sounding pickups, makes the Gretsch a really versatile guitar.

THANK YOU! .....BTW, after watching the 1 week later review of the next line "up" for Gretch, I think I much prefer this line. Less midrange, more musical broadrange of sound. 'Love that beginning piece and am happy Lee's distortion pedal wasn't ready.... the licks he produced are devine as clean.

    G'day from Australia. There is in fact a band named The Streamliners here in Adelaide, South Australia. They've been playing for some 30 odd years, 7 or so CD's, extremely skilled musicians. A bit hard to find stuff by them, but there are a couple of clips on KZread, and you can access their music via their website. Can highly recommend them, easily my favourite band.

    For anyone considering a Gretsch with a Bigsby, it’s crucial that you lube every point the strings come in contact with. The nut is crucial. Something like Big Bend’s Nut Sauce is great. If you do this and make sure the nut is properly cut for your strings, the guitar will stay in tune fine.

    I bought a G2655T and it did have a tendency to go out of tune when I used the whammy bar. However, I restrung it and did not have the strings go under the forward roller and no more tuning problems. I was worried that the shallower angle from the bridge to the rear roller could result in the string popping out of the bridge sections but so far no problem...and I've banged on the strings pretty hard. I love this guitar!

    Wow, blast from 3 years past. Here it is 2024! Gotta say that G2210 Jr Jet was a stunning guitar and sounded really good. You later said the neck needed a little attention. They're still selling them for 299 US. The other one that impressed me is the G2420. That thing sounded wonderful like a jazz guitar should. Still available for 449 US. I just returned an on sale for 299 US G2622-P90 because the neck wasn't straight and the bridge pickup was seriously tilted up on the bottom. Number one, a guitar has to have a good neck. I doubled down by ordering a 229 US sale G2622 with the humbuckers for immediate use while I wait for the replacement. We'll see what I get. If you get good copies you can't beat the prices, especially on sale. Think they're blowing out some of the previous versions, especially the colors they have a lot of inventory of. Adorama also has a G2622T for 279 US, and also a JR with the Bigsby for the same price in the US. Both of you guys sound great. Hope all is well, just subscribed.

    I have a 2622T, the BTs are good but I took out half the pole pieces and it cleaned them up no end. Still fab with some gain but less muddiness. Also I would advise to swap out the stock spring for a reverend. Helps tuning stability also. Another tip is to string over the tension bar, makes a big difference. Love these guitars though. Gretsch killed it with this line.

    @@Icantdrive55 That's amazing. I guess they may have bothered to cut the middle nut slots correctly, at an angle to reduce binding. I think I'll go for a Reverend Contender RB if I wanted a Bigsby though. They give you a roller bridge stock with a softer spring that travels more and an inline headstock with locking tuners, but, it's $1100.

  • @Icantdrive55

    @Icantdrive55

    SQUIRE LOVA so far so good, if I have tuning stability problems in the future it’s an easy fix with a roller bridge and a graphtech nut. Reverend is a good make but I admit I don’t know much about them other than I heard they are good. Gretsch also has great more expensive guitars. I’m from Canada and we have a company in Quebec called Godin. I don’t own one but they are supposed to make some really good quality guitars.

    These are very well made guitars for the budget (based on recent ownership) and dependent on model, often include higher than expected specs such as a synthetic bone nut, strap locks, heavy duty switching / bridge and stop tail, well applied binding with a nicely finished fretboard - mine had a maple cap, set neck and rosewood. Compared to an Epiphone I had at the same time (similar price) the difference was clear and it felt a much more solid guitar because of this. After three years it was just as solid whilst the Epi had developed pot crackle and a defective switch - both easily fixed but you get the drift.
