Years ago, I picked up a 67 F250 with a 352, the cast iron manifolds were cracked and the gaskets were gone. I had several broken studs, I had the luxury of having the motor out, for rear main and trans seal. I drilled the holes and used a dermal motor to remove the stud material down to the threads, the used a tap to refresh the thread chase. You were lucky on your removals. The put tube headers on it.

$125? No wonder they're no longer available! Headers alone are going for $1700 these days.

I'm sure you already know this but I figured I'd throw it out there for someone who may need the information and that is the little trick of using some heat. Just a little propane torch will work fine you just have to leave the heat on it for a good bit of time. Then you can try to back it out, if it breaks loose don't keep removing just turn it about a quarter of a turn out then back in again, coming a couple more threads out each turn. That'll help preserve the threads better. If using just heat doesn't work try to get it extremely hot again and then shock it with water in a spray bottle then immediately try again. You can always wear a nut to the stud and do that trick and of course the ones that are broken below the surface I can almost guarantee you you'll be stuck drilling them out. Last but not least you might have to healy coil them.

Hey I really think it would be a sweet idea to cut away sections from the frame in the front. Cut a little slice to free space for the headers. You are genius for the steering shaft idea. Have you seen the solution for removing the ac system? Just switch around two pulleys and get a shorter belt. Its so interesting to see such things. Thank you.

Always clamp v bands together before welding them. They will warp.

More like 1500 for Stainless Works headers. I'm in a pickle for my 1999 Townie, I wanted to buy a set but those headers cost almost as much as I have spent on the car so far by themselves...in other words i can't afford em.

Did you put the steering shaft behind the 2nd primary tube ? Or did you got between the first primary tube and the second? I’m in the middle of doing this job to my Vic
