out of IP movie recreations, "Us" was easily the most accurate, movie-to-house adaptation I've seen in over 10 years of HHN history. It wasn't my favorite house by far, but you have to give credit where it's due. This house made me feel like I was in the movie. The faithfulness was uncanny. It was the same exact style as the Ghostbusters' house in regards to recreating its source material into house-form. Nightingale was the most underwhelming house I've ever been through in HHN history. It was worse than seeing the Walking Dead return for the hundredth time. The bird costumes looked like they came straight from Party City. The only redeeming thing of that house was the lion. I went through that house 3 times just to make sure I hated it. I'm glad you at least appreciate the House of 1000 Corpses.

Expedition Theme Park can you also do a video about the history of Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort's Halloween events and Halloween parties ? As we all know back in the 90s the 80s and the 70s, they were never any Halloween events that took place at Disneyland. Except Knott's Berry Farm and later on Universal Studios. So all together we would like to know the history of how the Halloween events started at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World, and their Halloween parties that take place at Disneyland park and the Magic Kingdom. And especially how they decided to do Halloween parties at Disney California Adventure from this year

The Nightingales' kind of reminds me of Harpies from Greek mythology and the Mouthbrooders look like a deep-sea viperfish. Though a slight nitpick on the Yeti house, I have a feeling they either got the creatures or places mixed up, Yetis live in the Himalayas, and this is taking place in the Yukon area in Canada, it should be called Sasquatch. Plus Isn't it ironic that Hunchback of Notre Dame and Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney though Universal films are in the public domain? Also (Again just a nitpick, and I hope the crew knows this behind the scenes), Quasimodo the hunchback, yea he looks like a monster, but he's not the villain. The real villain if you've seen each adaptation of the novel, his master Minister Dom Claude Frollo is the real villain/monster.

@@ExpeditionThemePark, maybe I was particularly unlucky, but I only had 1 scare timed to me the entire night. I thought almost every house was a "novelty" house instead of a "horror" house. A majority of the houses I managed to go through were scenically bright, killing the atmosphere and the elements of surprise. I don't have any complaints about the production value, but I didn't have a "wow" moment. The scare zones were disappointing. I think the only conceptively creative and scary house was Depths of Fear. The other 90% of my night was plainly not scary. Also, I ended up leaving early since the shortest lines were 75 minutes long and the line cutting was egregious. I could only get on half of the houses which I've never experienced. 10 - 6 --- ??? 5 --- Nightingales: Bloodpit 4 --- Ghostbusters 3 --- Yeti 2 --- Universal Monsters 1 --- Depths of Fear

This was my first ever year at HHN and I can't wait to go again. The only house we didn't do was Stranger Things because the lines were too long to justify for a show we'd only seen the first season of. I think House of 1000 Corpses was my favorite since it recreated one of my favorite movies so well, but I do have to give kudos to Depths of Fear because it was the only house to give me a real good jump scare (I'm just not a jumpy person - unlike the person I came with who screamed the whole way through every house). The thing coming from the ceiling... You got me Depths of Fear.

But even House was amazing. They outdid themselves this year and to think HHN30 will be better is insane. It sucks seeing people think it was underwhelming, but I think they really did so amazing that some houses felt underwhelming.

Of the houses I did, here's my rankings: 6) Us (Felt like the movie, even if I didn't get too many scares) 5) Yeti: Terror of the Yukon (Beautiful props and great costumes, especially the arm scare) 4) Killer Klownz from Outer Space (funny and colorful, I also liked the button room) 3) Stranger Things (felt just like the show, and the upside down portions were especially strong for me) 2) Graveyard Games (The scariest house for me, which makes it great. Bonus points for having the most fleshed out original story) 1) Universal Monsters (Honestly could tie with Graveyard Games, but I put Monsters at #1 because of the great detail and homages to all the major classic universal monster movies.)

I only hit 7 of the houses when I went- 7. Ghostbusters 6. Killer Klowns 5. 1000 Corpses 4. Stranger Things 3. Depths of Fear 2. Graveyard Games 1. Universal Monsters Ghostbusters just wasn’t scary, and we hit it during a cast change, so next to none of the scares were there. I’m not afraid of clowns, so Killer Klowns was more cutesy and fun, but still okay. I loved 1000 Corpses, it was intense and very well detailed. Stranger Things did feel a little empty, and I wished there was more of season 3, but I still really liked it. Depths of Fear was so fun, and that baby mouth thing from the ceiling was the best scare. Graveyard Games was so beautiful and I loved every minute of it. Universal Monsters scared me the most- I loved the Phantom scene, and the final Frankenstein got me SO GOOD. I’m excited for hhn 30 and I hope I can go!!

I'd also say that graveyard games also heavily relied on timing.. The first time I went through, I thought it was terrible. I wasn't hit with a single scare and I didn't really get what was going on.. But the next time I went I was proved completely wrong. I barely ever jump at the jump scares but that house was terrifying when I got the right timing. It's one of my all time favorites and I'm so glad I got a frequent fear pass last year or I would have never known.

I only got to do three houses in my time there with graveyard games being my first house ever it really scared me leaving me physically shaking while walking through it. I had a great time (I also did killer Klowns and ghostbusters and my group danced through both Klowns and ghostbusters)

My experience has often been that the original content houses are the best for actual scares while the IP houses are great for detailing. Which is why I tend to rank them separately. My ranking for the original houses: 4. Yeti 3. Nightingales 2. Depths of Fear 1. Graveyard Games My ranking for the IP Houses 6. Killer Klowns 5. House of 1000 Corpses 4. Us 3. Stranger Things 2 2. Ghost Busters 1. Universal Monsters Yeti and Nightingales were further down the list for me. I really could not get the best out of them story wise, just a general sense of location but not why anything was happening. Depths of Fear and Graveyard games however their story rang true and clear and the houses were just gorgeous! The IP houses were sooooo close in their quality that it's almost a 6 way tie. However the Monsters House was just breathtaking and easily the one I wish I could bring back. I got so many great moments in these IP houses, from the best scare of the night in Us, to being the very last person of the night to go through Stranger Things (the normally busy house was totally empty, it was amazing!) to getting stuck in the line in front of the Slimer scare in Ghost Busters. (The scareactor started making slimer dance and even twerk, hillarious!) Best HHN year I've ever had.

I didn't get a chance to go to HHN 29 Last year, but I went to Hollywood's plenty of times. I too wasn't a fan of the US maze and found the movie much more enjoyable. For me the two IP's in Hollywood that stood out were Killer Klownz, and Ghostbusters. The indie house Pandora's box was an amazing concept and pulled at everyone's fears.

Damn this is crazy how different the houses are from Hollywood. Us was the ABSOLUTE favorite in Hollywood. Everyone loved it. And Killer Klowns had an awesome facade of the tent with a live actor playing the farmer looking for his dog. House of 1000 corpses was ok for us but NO ONE appreciated it. Even on one of the busiest nights, House of 1000 corpses only had a 20 minute wait, and at one point you could just walk right in, no wait.

Also Us did AMAZING telling the story and the sets were so damn cool. I was so shocked to see it ranked at the bottom in this video. My jaw dropped lol. Holidays in Hell was SUPER lackluster. The best and most detailed section was St Patrick’s day lol. Freakin Christmas and Halloween were the worst. Halloween was literally just a bunch of mannequins with jack o lantern masks with an occasional scare actor jumping out. I felt like they could’ve done a lot more.

I didn’t make it into all of the houses, but none of them really scared me. For the most part, I thought they looked really good and I liked the overall vibe. There were some good scare zones, like the one with the Vikings was pretty sinister. The best part of HHN was the Academy of Villains show, which my daughter and I both agreed was amazing! I liked the House of 1000 Corpses house and the Classic Monsters house the most. I missed the Yeti house unfortunately. I think I missed most of the scares through the Ghostbusters house, but the house was so short. Some of the scene sets looked great and others were rather unimpressive. The house I liked the least was the Nightingale house. We waited so long and my daughter and I both agreed it was terribly lame. I also missed Graveyard Games. So sad. Looks like it was really cool. Oh well. It was still a great time!

You know what I would've loved to see back? Evilution. Specifically a Jurassic World take on the Evilution concept. Like... Wu having finally gone completely insane or something.

Blood Pit was a NIGHTMARE. I went through 4 or 5 times and each time was worse than before, with full grown men in front of and behind us in tears during one walkthrough. Loved it All of the houses were awesome, though Graveyard Games left something to be desired

    10. Yeti - I know people love it, I just found it repetitive. 9. Nightingales - I never *got* the story, but I liked the scare actors. 8. Killer Klowns - Not scary really, but so much fun to go through. 7. Us - Maybe I was lucky, but every walkthrough was so creepy. 6. Ghostbusters - I went through it ten times, and up until my last three tries, I was ready to put it last. So many bad walkthroughs. But those last times, it *finally* clicked with me. 5. House of 1,000 Corpses - Makes a much better house than movie. 4. Depths of Fear - The closest I think I’ll ever get to my precious Alien house. 3. Stranger Things - Not the scariest, but I loved the theming and progression. Still, it was a step down from last year’s spectacular effort. 2. Graveyard Games - After getting over the pitch black room (which initially scared me for all the *wrong* reasons), I loved this house more and more each visit. 1. Universal Monsters - I wasn’t expecting this to top my list, but every time I went through it, it was on fire. Amazing theming, paced incredibly well, and every single scene gave me at least one scare. I just kept wanting to go in again and again.

I agree on your top 2 but think Ghostbuster was fun enough to make it 3. HHN has very beautiful sets, but lacks a fear aspect since conga lines stop reset times and huge crowds and 1 mile exits. Another issue is the price over 200 bucks is a bit extreme since if you can only go 1 night you need a fast pass.
