I saw her (good ending) with my cousing when I was a kid playing in the Arcades! It was the first time for us to beat it. A crowd came to see us win the game and wait their turn to play haha. My trigger fingger was shaking after beating the game.

@@spongeyspikes09 Exactly. I could most likely take the zombies and carnage, especially if it was just normal in my line of work. But I couldn't take me losing my fiancé' to all that mess, and him/her turning into a zombie. That would be the thing to fuck me up the most.

Got to remember. Sophie is the bigger hero in this story. She was the one who called for help. She survived (in the good ending) without a gun with neverending bullets. She raised a daughter in the mist of a big war of monsters in the third game.

The ending without Sophie as a zombie or alive is the best imo. They turn back and look at the house and the way the screen turns dark sends chills up my spine every time.

The process to get the good ending actually makes a lot of sense, if you believe that some of the researchers you saved eventually found Sophie while escaping, and helped her recover. Bad ending: one of the "dead" researchers somehow survived, and in a botched attempt to recover her, he turns her into a creature. She ate him shortly afterwards, which explains the blood dripping from her mouth.

I never got the Sophie saying "thank you" ending. Me with my friends played this game like a decade ago, they never understood how to stay alive, so they told me to be the player while they just watch, I got the mansion overview ending first, then the 2nd i found out that there's also ending where it zoomed in after overviewing the mansion and revealed Sophie that has become a zombie.

If you closely, she was hit by the blunt end of the weapon. I think she just passed out.. (happened when you first see her). Also I think G might have known, but he wants Rogan to focus on the mission. If he known she might be alive, he won't leave here.

It’s actually creepy when you think about it that in the bad ending, Sophie is the only zombie left in the Curien Residence. (Unless you count any zombies or mutants that were in routes the agents didn’t take.)

Jordan Ezell It just... feels creepy that a area was cleared out of zombies, and one zombie is left alone. The fact that the remaining one is Sophie, (Rogan’s wife) just feels like.... wow. Especially poor Rogan who doesn’t even know as he leaves the mansion. (Not that the bad ending is canon)

I remember playing this game for hours when I was a kid. I got the ending with Sophie becoming a zombie once, and for hours after that tried to figure out how and why, but to no avail. this is pretty cool.

@@notevencalm you need to be more accuracy on killing zombies! Like killing the zombies from Chapter 1 in the far away! and Chapter 5 kill the zombies that are far away from you! Make sure you don't have to take any damage or else your score will be reduced!

You Gotta Be Aiming For Headshots, Destroying Boxes For Coins And Other Collectables And Saving The Scientists To Earn The High Score Without Continues

That would have been extremely funny if, in the good ending to this game, Rogan and G realize that they forgot to check on Sophie to see if she's still alive, they both run back towards the mansion and find her still kicking and not hurt; it ends with her thanking and hugging the player while Rogan scowls and G has a big thumbs up.

I think a better ending is: just before they get to their car, a zombie charges at them. But then it was shot in the back. As the zombie falls, it is revealed that the shooter is Sophie

I have theory that maybe Sophie was tested on by Curien. with whatever sickness Daniel had as in the bad ending for HOTD3 Daniel turns into a zombie the same as we see here so maybe in the good ending sense none of them turn into zombies whatever Curien had given them had no affect as I think it's activated through stress, fear, shock. Something like that but that's just my theory it probably isn't true. 😂

Not canon tho... Because HOTD3, she became pregnant with Rogan as dad (Lisa) and the daughter became the new agent with G as helper. Lisa and Daniel Curien (Curien's son) fought the Robotic Enhanced Curien aka. Wheel of Fate.

Tje bad ending (where she's a zombie) is kust unsettling, you go into the mansion & she's just standing there (MENACINGLY!) & it's all quiet

I was always scared during the ending sequence where we walk back the route we just took. I felt like another enemy will just randomly pop out lol

The "Model 2" is the name of the arcade board. That means that the game is running on the original Sega arcade hardware. You can check on eBay to see if there are any available but I'm sure they're hard to find.

Damn player 2 is cold

Another suggested endings. It flashes forward to the middle of the third game. G was in a makeshift medical center tending those injured by the attack. Rogan was instructing those who are going to retake the city. A zombie broke parimiter and about to attack G. The zombie was shot in the back. It was a group of people who said to G "guess we're even" G recognize them as the people he saved from the first game. They had volunteered to help when they heard of the attack.

I have an idea. That Sophie survived because Curran's son has a crush on her. And it may have given him the will to live. That may explain why he got well with her daughter in the the third game.

I used to play this game on the PC version with my aunt (my mom's sister) when I was a little kid.

I only got Sophie alive once.

Weirdly enough the first time I beat this game I used a crap load of continues and still got the zombie Sophie ending. I read somewhere that if the amount of continues you use is an interval of 10 (10, 20, 30, etc…) then the game reads that as zero and still gives you the zombie Sophie ending which is probably what happened to me lol

I love this game I just dont get why you need to do better to get the bad ending instead of the normal ending

I always figured it was because the "bad" ending had more "content" in a way. Seeing Zombie Sophie is more interesting than seeing nothing, so it makes sense to have to earn that. The plain and boring ending is for those who played the worst.

I remember playing this game in PC, only got the "Normal Ending" cos I'm a noobie. 4-5 continues for me normally, then improved to 3 continues before I got to college.

I remember back then my brother always got the good ending while on the other hand i always got the normal ending

I mostly had normal endings. I rarely had a 60k+ NC ending. I almost never had a under 60k NC ending.

I was thinking about the reason why Sophie should live. The daughter in the third game. If Rogan married someone else, the daughter would be much younger. But that got me thinking that if Sophie didn't make it; there would be one person he would marry so quickly... another survivor. She would say "I am doing this for Sophie. She summoned you here to destroy the monsters that were killing us. She saved our lives. It doesn't feel right that she didn't make it. I may not be her, but I endured the same horrific event that killed our friends. And I will ensure the safety of our kids, should this... infestation of monsters failed to be contained.

I was thinking about a story of the plausible survivors. Survivor 1 would be Sophie's best friend and would help here with Sophie's zombie awairness movements, and be co leader of the safe are in the third game. Survivor 2 would be an agressive one, would have been part of a voluntary fire team in the second game. Third survivor would hold self-help groups of those lost loved ones in creature attacks. Survivor 4 and 5 are a married couple, and had a big family in Sophie's safe are in the third game. Survivor 6 and 7 we're told by Rogan to contact headquarters and guard the entrance, they had an issue with a cop who arrived and was killed by a zombie. Survivor 8 made books about her involvement in the incident as well as her volunteer as a medical aid in the second game as well as her involvement in the zombie war in the third game, she was at the party in crimson dawn and that her experience made her the first to be aware of the attack and lead a few to safety.

Why does no one talk about that Sophie is a rip off of Rachel from Time Crisis?

I think in a remake, they should go with: they are greeted by Sophie and other people you rescued (like the second game, Sophie runs into Rogans arms and G saying "I knew she was just passed out" then G saw a helicopter fly over the mansion but then thought nothing of it, the survivors give interviews of their survival and what they are doing afterwards, (if died on the final boss fight) Sophie and some survivers run to the find the agents dead as the wizard flys off to wreak havoc, and Sophie and the survivors wait for our heros to return but fined they were taken out by a zombified currien.

Seen the staff rol for some reason gives me nostalgic fealings and i wasn't even born the year the second game was realesed, i had HOTD2 For PC and me and my brother always played that one, it wasn't until like 2012 that i saw the first one and i played, it became one of my favorite games of all time and made me want to play the one i haven't played(i played HOTD3 before, HOTD4 is the one a haven't playee yet) I wish i was born in the time were this game just came out in arcades and played to fell what everyone did back in the day, i'm a 17 Years old kid and normaly kids at my age play other crap like Fortnite and other stupid trash, but i grew up with clasics becose at the time i didn't had that much money to get a console, but with this game and a lot more, i just fell like i was born in the wrong time, i love House Of the Dead and i hope it gets more love then it has now.

I was thinking that they should have a special scean: in the prologue set a few days before the third game. G is getting Sophie's daughter to go rescue her dad. Sophie wants to come to, but G has many reasons why she couldn't. Sophie then looks at some pictures, symbolizing her remembering what lead to the first game. The epilogue shows her looking at pictures that reflects events leading up to now. The crew returns home with Rogan and he and Sophie embrace. Rogan then considers the idea of retirement.

Another idea: is that it flashes forward just before game 3. Rogan, G, Sophie, and Lisa look down at a battle between humans and monsters. If you rescue enough science, the humans would be winning.

@@oksat6495 Well most of those survivors (after they survive therapy) would have some experience with surviving a zombie outbreak. And that experience would be come in handy in the situations yet to come.

Please, next time dont stretch a 4:3 game to 16:9, it looks awful. At least if you play it in 16:9 in the emulator you can still return it back to 4:3 later in your video editing software.
