The Guys in RUSH are such a class act..No egos, No Drugs, no songwriting credit issues etc...Neil Peart's Lyrics always speak volumes and tell stories... RUSH has never been all "Hey I met this chick at the Bar, I took her home and banged her".....None of that crap..This is another reason why they are one of the greatest rock bands ever.

They don't put a lot of emphasis on it, but they've never hidden the fact that they have "burned the midnight oil" before. Other than that I totally agree.

@@gtpl1789 I listen to that song nearly every day. One of their most underrated. Stark and beautiful, speaking of loss, of fading into obscurity, of growing old. No other rock band sang of such things. It is also an excellent song to play on the drum kit and one of the few Rush songs I can make a passable stab at.

"We will pay the price but we will not count the cost." I teach middle school and made a huge poster of that lyric which I hung prominently in the front of my classroom. It was frequently referred to as the class guiding mission statement.

After becoming a fan of their music and lyrics I learned about their commitment to playing music honestly, to only putting things on the record that they could actually play. That resonated in my brain. Had a distaste for fakery before that but a desire to live honestly, to not try to appear something I am not, was awakened. Have always tried to be open about who I am and what I can do. That ethos has served me very well both professionally and personally. In eliminating artifice, one must become truly excellent at what they do or face having to admit they are not. Cheers.

Honestly, I have a very hard time choosing. I adore A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres and their harder prog rock sound. I love Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure with their heavy synth use and lighter and faster solos. Roll the Bones and Counterparts bring back a rockier tone with newer technology and I love that as well. Vapor Trails, Snakes and Arrows, and Clockwork Angels bring a return-to-form for Geddy and Alex in a heavier tone, while Neil moved on to having a more pronounced "feel" on the kit vs his straight and to-the-point accuracy on earlier records. To many different pros to every era for me to say which one is my favorite.

It is impossible to compare bands from different eras. However, Judas Priest is my fave, I just know it in my guts. Beatles are like the Leonardo da Vinci of rock: they started so many different things, but they also happened to be in the right place at the right time. That goes pretty much for Hendrix too. However, the respect that Rush shows to music and their fans is amazing. They are a total class act, and, for me, 2112, kings and hemi surpass Beatles’ revolver and Abbey Road. But that is not a fact, it is simply my personal experience of their music.
