The Hot Rod C4 Corvette LT4 Engine of 1996

Today I am taking a look and describing the one year only C4 Corvette LT4 engine of 1996. In this video I go over the components of this engine that made it the hot rod version of the LT-1 engine that was introduced for the Corvette in 1992.

I'd put a stock 96 LT4 up against any stock 97-2000 LS1 any day of the week... An LT4 just pulls hard and when the LS1 starts to fall off the LT4 is still pulling hard..

    I own a Torch Red/Black Sport 1996 LT4 convertible and love it but don’t forget the 29 1997 LT4 Firehawks!

I have a 96 coupe lt4. It's been rebuilt, torqhead conversion and coil packs. C6 ecu. Brand new pilot sport as4, corsa exhaust. Torch red, or please arrest me officer red. Just did the weather stripping. 67k miles. She was a single owner car, garage kept all her life. I'm having an absolute blast driving it.

I saw a youtube video about the LT4 c4 1996 engine. Some 200 engines were dyno tested, the results were the engine produced between 360 and 390bhp in standard tune. They already knew the 97 car had only 345bhp, so quoted the LT4 at 330hp in 1996.

After I retired and a bit of a search, found a nice all stock lo mile LT4 . Hard to find one that has not been beat up or modified. Lot of fun to drive, lot of car for the money. Thanks for the C4 content. Hard not to like all corvettes in general.

Interesting fact about the stripper cars: their fathers weren’t around in their lives.

I've owned my white 96 LT4 for 5 years now. My original plan was to get rid of it after a few years but I enjoy the car too much. A few go fast goodies and the car is now a sleeper...if a corvette can be classified as that...

I own a96 LT4 manual, 72,000 miles on it, and absent the uphill climb to get out, I love it. I bought as a retirement present, and put half the mileage on it since then. It will always be my summer toy, unless I hit the lottery, and I'll drive it til I need a hoist to get me out. LOL

Is $25k for an 11,000 mile example too much? Same owner car since 97’ it’s polo green with tan interior lt4 manual.

Got my LT4 in 08 and had it for nearly 10 yrs. Regret having to sell to pay some bills and I basically kept it nice for the next guy. lots of driveability upgrades but basically stock motor. I built a custom sound system for it but often drove with the music off and windows down. It had limo tint and muffler deletes and sport front spring when I got it. Was my first American car after coming,to the US and I did a lot of reaearch and spent a year looking for the right one. I got the fastest car you could buy for the money. The seller told me ‘it’ll do a burnout for an entire block’. That sealed it for me😁 Loads of torque in any gear but you can still redline it and it just kept pulling. Same torque curve as the original Gen III LS motor which makes me think the LT4 was meant to have the Hotcam from factory but they reigned it in just enough so it wouldn’t beat the new C5. That was a rule at GM! Lots of fun and I learned a lot from being in the club, a lot about vettes, Chevy cars and US automotive history in general. I was having emissions system problems when I let it go and had just replaced the entire system. It was just fast enough to get yourself in trouble and just old enough to keep you guessing😉 I would get another one. A C5 Z06 would better on paper, but just not the same charm as the LT4, with its modern electronics but old school style and attitude 👍🏼

A friend had an LT4 back in the late 90s. He even let me drive it. It’s kinda what influenced me to get a Z06 later in 2001. They drive nice and do feel strong! Loved the info...
