Their teeth aren’t built for clean cuts like those of other mammalian carnivores. While lions and other big cats, for example, mostly kill their prey by going for the throat (except for jaguars, which just bite through their prey’s skull and shatter their braincases, the badasses), essentially suffocating them and giving them a quick, almost merciful death, leopard seal teeth are more designed for sifting krill. In other words, it can take *minutes* for an actual kill, and penguins suffer the whole way, while deer and wildebeests take only a few moments, and it’s relatively painless.

realistic animation is not great animation. These penguins are meant to be so realistic that they aren't expressive at all. And good voice acting never ever saved a movie. Messages? In all seriousness, this movie is really deep and has a ton of symbolism/allegory for religious shunning due to someone being gay or autistic, or simply too different from their community. You even have the father who blames himself for how his son turned out and is the one who sticks to the method of letting Mumble be exiled while his wife is heart broken about it. Mumble's childhood is very implied to be difficult. He's seen as different and incapable of following the methods of his society, and is almost even denied the right to "graduate" with the other youth. From day 1, his father worries about how he acts, how he dances and sounds compared to the penguins around him. He feels self conscious and keeps the temporary belief that Mumble will grow out of it. But you can tell that as time goes on, he feels guilty until he can't run from it anymore, and reluctantly confesses that he dropped Mumble's egg which is why he's "all messed up" . And yet... Even as much as he is guilty, he can't bring himself to stand up for his own son due to the judgements of others. He lets himself stay in the dark and keep the senseless idea that his son needs to fix himself and even "repent". This movie is extremely layered in implications. It's crazy

Usually when I watched a movie as a kid I ignored some of the horrifying animation. Not this movie.
imagine your mom coming home with this movie on a Friday and forces the entire family to watch this. (i had to experience that)

my favorite KZread channel by far
Damn I never realised my childhood was this hardcore
Im honestly glad I wasn’t the only one genuinely scared of this film as a child. It was way more serious than it needed to be. And that goes for the sequel too, I mean I still get chills watching the kitchen scene.
Am I missing some inside joke or late April fools, omg

Even though I grew up with Happy feet and it was my favorite movie as a kid, I’m genuinely scared of it now.
I didn't think about this when I was younger, I now see the terrors of this movie.

I liked Happy Feet when I was younger but looking back on it, it’s kinda of creepy looking.
is it weird that I was ACTUALLY scared of this movie? no? okay.. it's very uncanny, especially the humans, I could not watch this scene

@@franknfurter5336 After spending almost a whole movie watching 3D critters, your brain is in "processing art (or simplified images)" mode and seeing something with as much detail as a real life human all of a sudden makes your brain freak out trying to decide which way to process the images XD Not to mention all the penguins in this are a centimeter away from being full on in the uncanny valley, which just makes it that much worse

I know! I don't know how I liked this when I was a kid, so many of the scenes I can remember where so uncomfortable to watch.
2:40 all jokes aside that is a sick shot
in hindsight, this movie probably caused my thalassophobia... idk if that is the name, but basically my fear for deep seas
This movie gave me fears of deep waters because of the scene where the crane fell out of the ice.
For most of this I'm like ???? This movie isn't a horror movie??? But then you mentioned the daddy kink thing and I was with you all the way that is horrifying. .....as is the Heaven bit that actually was an acid trip
