in D&D, clerics recharge after a long rest (8 hours), time they didn't have. also in D&D, dragons have a feature called "frightful presence", best seen in the very first episode when Keyleth cowered when she faced Brimscythe. But they've been setting Scanlan as wanting to run away both against Brimscythe, the Briarwoods, and the Conclave, so it's been a bit of a through line for him. looking forward to seeing you react to season 3 when it comes out.
